We were lucky to be the first ones to ever rent this home. There is only me, my wife and 10 year old son, We own property on a small lake in the erea and the timing was never right to build on so we always rented a place close by but found ourselfs driving to town and back our whole vacation. We've stayed on lakes, rivers and some nice places in the middle of the woods but never a place as Awesome as" Cawthorne's River Retreat". We had to wait a few days to get our vehicle fixed while we were up there but if your vehicle breaks down, this is the place you want to be because you need absolutely nothing at all and you can walk or ride a bike wherever you want to go, ie, grocery store, dining, putt putt golf, tube rental, downtown, beach etc... The house is stocked with" EVERYTHING" you could possibly think of, so if you forget something dont worry. All the cupboards and drawers were labeled as to what was in them so we didn't have open them all to find something. They even had laundry soap and bleach, there was a basket in the main bathroom with EVERY toiletry item you could think of, in it! My favorite part was interacting with the tubers and kayakers as they went by to drop off their rentals around the corner (and tubing ourselves). The water was only knee high when we were there and the bottom of the river is covered with small rounded pea-stone size rocks that were totally harmless and "tickled your feet as my son would put it." My son spent most of the time walking around in the river wearing swimming goggles with a small fishnet in each hand as he caught baby perch minnows. (Didnt think he could even catch one, so I bet him 20 dollars and lost because he had a total of 26 in the minnow bucket before we had to leave, so dont bet your kids). He would also walk up the river a couple hundred yards and then float back on the tubes they had there for us to use. Believe me , he got a workout in that river and slept like a rock! Roasted smores in the firpit right next to the river at night, that was awesome! Loved the way the house was set up, looks better in person than in the pictures. We spent most of our time in the middle part because there was just the 3 of us this year but the whole house was impeccable. We already booked it for next year and many more years to come! This is our new spot! The owners were always available via cell phone, text and they made us feel at home and relaxed the whole time we were up there. Thanks Brevin, Heather, you guys ROCK!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.
