Snow draped mountains, peaceful silence, beautiful cedars surrounding the Lake House (Chalet), and clear view of a Bottle Bay, created a serenity that filled the air and offered a perfect recipe for a our cozy Thanksgiving stay. We highly recommend you work this one into your vacation plans! Our stay during the Thanksgiving Holiday 2011 was a wonderfully enjoyable experience made possible by the lovely property, warm Lake House and kind owners. They were extremely helpful and went out of their way to ensure our comfort even though the property was perfectly equipped with everything we needed to enjoy our stay, with a spectacular view of Bottle Bay and easy access to the 2 boat docks and water. They were open and friendly, sharing tales of adventures through time (which we thoroughly enjoyed), and offered a variety of educational DVD's for our pleasure. The Lake House was immaculate, very clean and tidy. There was ample room and could easily accommodate multiple families or groups such as Yoga Retreats etc. Though we prepared most of our own meals in the fully equipped and functional kitchen, we did see several dining options in nearby Sandpoint. We've stayed in numerous B & Bs, Lodges and Cabins over the years, but this one was crème d' la crème! We have fond memories of the beauty of the land, coziness of the Lake House, and wonderful conversations that will last a lifetime. We will definitely return and look forward to taking advantage of the convenient boat docks for fishing, sun bathing on a warm day, and boating at night to enjoy the glorious Night Sky and Cosmos!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Year Purchased: 1995
About the owner: The owners Jack, a retired geologist, and Diana, retired historian, have lived on this property since 1995. Nowadays they spend about half of their time here and the remainder with family or traveling in foreign countries (the children are grown and on their own). Jack originally purchased the property in 1980 after spending many years vacationing on the lake when he lived in Spokane. They both love the pristine quality of the Lake water and surrounding forests for hiking as well as the exhilarating boating experiences that can take one nearly 30 miles down the lake or just a short boat ride to the beautiful town of Sandpoint. Since geology is Jack's passion he can tell anyone about the fantastic Missoula floods that sculpted the mountains and valleys of this area all the way to the Pacific Ocean. This is an astounding story of a gigantic flood that took geologist J. Harlin Bretz 40 years to convince his peers that such an event happened. Diana loves to ride her 'comfort' bike on the roads in the area visiting other nearby Bays to dip her toes in the water and just enjoying looking at the verdant countryside fields and pastures. Both like to bird watch and listen for the whistle calls of bald eagles and osprey that often perch high in the pine trees on the property while fishing. Many a youngster has also caught their first fish off the dock. The lake provides a convient flyway for swans, canada geese, various resident woodpeckers, hawks, eagles, ravens, coots, turkeys, gulls and other water and song birds. Moose, Elk, beaver, and abundant deer occasionally frequent the neighborhood. Since astronomy is another favorite pastime of the two, they have spent many a night star gazing through scopes at the bright night time sky looking for one of many meteor showers or northern lights. The two have really enjoyed having friends stay with them and making new friends with those who have rented their vacation houses over the years.
