Property description

Your Own Private Idaho – 120 feet of private, pebble beach with some round glacier deposited rock shoreline in a park like environment on Lake Pend d Oreille. This vacation home is the perfect place for making memories with friends and family. Chalet will be for sale during summer. All rental reservations honored. Renters expected to allow any showings; no cleanup required. Owner offers free bottle of wine for your cooperation. Chalet offers good rental income and has never had other than summer vacation renters.
There is a rope swing over the water. It has a weight limit and requires a signed waver before use.
Jack and Diana live across the road from the Chalet but live a quiet life. They are there to help renters if not out boating or at some of their favorite birding or kayak areas.
Enjoy spending your day basking in the sun on the dock, swimming, boating, water skiing and playing in the water. At only 35 feet deep, Bottle Bay is one of the warmest bays on the lake making it the perfect place for all water sports. Dock your boat at the 50 by 10 ft. dock. A canoe is provided local sight seeing around the bay.

Time for lunch? Bring your picnic to the grassy shores edge and enjoy eating at one of the waterside tables while watching eagles and ospreys fish for their days catch. After lunch might be the perfect time for a siesta while the kids continue to frolic in the lake.

Tired of being in the sun? Enjoy the shade or read a book. Stop to enjoy the views of the lake and mountains beyond, sitting on one of the benches nestled in the trees or skip a flat rock across the waters

As the afternoon unfolds, wander to the large Chalet deck and refresh yourself with a cold beverage, glass of wine and snack. Kick up your feet and watch the sun play on the water and the Canada Geese paddle by.

Dinner time! It’s your choice for a barbecue on the chalet deck. A small fire pit is provided for small fires weather permitting. during the dry season no fires are permitted

As night falls, star gazing is spectacular. Keep your eyes open for the possible Northern Lights dancing across the sky. The Persieds meteor shower is around August 8-12 and the docks are the perfect spot to watch

For the young and young at heart, now is the perfect time to stroll back down to the shoreline to share stories of the day and roast marshmallows around the campfire.

The Chalet is a short walk up the hill and has a light and airy full kitchen which opens to the living room and deck. The four (4) bedrooms provide a variety of sleeping options. Two (2) of the bathrooms are located on the main level of the home; on second level there is one (1) bath and laundry and another bedroom plus TV room or the 4th bedroom. The home is fully furnished to meet your every need.
Bottle Bay Resort Marina is a short walk or boat ride away and offers dining, cocktails, moorage, gas dock, boat rentals and boat launch. The resort is renowned for its huckleberry margaritas and lemonade!!

Make certain you don’t forget to spend time exploring Sandpoint. A 15 minute boat ride or 30 minute car ride will place you in the heart of town where you will find exceptional dining, shopping, antiquing and a variety of other activities. Tennis anyone? City Beach has several tennis courts, public beaches, horseshoe pits, basketball & volleyball courts, boat launches and a play ground for young children. There is a huge fireworks display in Sandpoint and Garfield Bay. And lately the north and south sides of Bottle Bay are putting on an awesome shoot off! We do not allow fireworks however to be shot on property.

Save time to head up to Schweitzer Mountain Resort. Incredible views and vistas await you as you ride up the chair lift. There is plenty to do on the mountain with hiking, biking, casual dining, huckleberry picking and more. Don’t forget to call ahead to see what the featured entertainment is.

The owners live near the property and are available to answer any questions that you may have about Sandpoint and the surrounding areas. The 2015 summer season is booking quickly; we look forward to hearing from you soon.

About: The owners Jack, a retired geologist, and Diana, retired historian, have lived on this property since 1995. Nowadays they spend about half of their time here and the remainder with family or traveling in foreign countries (the children are grown and on their own). Jack originally purchased the property in 1980 after spending many years vacationing on the lake when he lived in Spokane. They both love the pristine quality of the Lake water and surrounding forests for hiking as well as the exhilarating boating experiences that can take one nearly 30 miles down the lake or just a short boat ride to the beautiful town of Sandpoint. Since geology is Jack's passion he can tell anyone about the fantastic Missoula floods that sculpted the mountains and valleys of this area all the way to the Pacific Ocean. This is an astounding story of a gigantic flood that took geologist J. Harlin Bretz 40 years to convince his peers that such an event happened. Diana loves to ride her 'comfort' bike on the roads in the area visiting other nearby Bays to dip her toes in the water and just enjoying looking at the verdant countryside fields and pastures. Both like to bird watch and listen for the whistle calls of bald eagles and osprey that often perch high in the pine trees on the property while fishing. Many a youngster has also caught their first fish off the dock. The lake provides a convient flyway for swans, canada geese, various resident woodpeckers, hawks, eagles, ravens, coots, turkeys, gulls and other water and song birds. Moose, Elk, beaver, and abundant deer occasionally frequent the neighborhood. Since astronomy is another favorite pastime of the two, they have spent many a night star gazing through scopes at the bright night time sky looking for one of many meteor showers or northern lights. The two have really enjoyed having friends stay with them and making new friends with those who have rented their vacation houses over the year

Why Bottle Bay:
Beautiful country living that is full of natures best plants, animals, and access to the lake.

The Unique Benefits at this House:
Perfect summer setting, kids love it.
