Beautiful house with mold
Beautiful house with mold
The house was beautiful. The view was outstanding. Unfortunately during a very hot and humid week the house was infested with mold and there was standing water in the basement. Four of us got ill. We stayed 2 nights of a 7 night reservation. The owner denied a problem and returned only the security deposit, stating there were no prior complaints. If you are sensitive to mold, check it out in person before you rent. Everything but the mold was lovely. We should have invested in travel insurance.

Great location, a few hiccups
Great location, a few hiccups
We had an enjoyable stay here. Below are pros and cons. Pros: FABULOUS view! The beach is great for just hanging out and throwing rocks into the lake. The house was clean. Location is quiet. Dining area is fun with 6-person table and lake view. There was a humidifier in the basement that helped with the dampness. Good home for older kids (5 +). Cons: Cranky neighbor who is vocal if you walk use the lake rocks near his house to view the Lift Bridge. Limited supplies, like towels and blankets, for guests. We had 7 people stay and had to use beach towels for bath towels because there weren't enough. There wasn't detergent for the dishwasher (while not a big deal, it was one more thing for us to work around). Older house so there isn't really a large room for a group to hang out in together, although there are several small living spaces for whole groups. It's a charming house, but older, so it has older house quirks and older appliances. Downstairs shower is very small. I'm 5 ft.6 in. and couldn't put my arm above my head in the shower without hitting the ceiling.

My family stayed here 4 nights (3 adults, 2 children, and non-shedding dog). It was a nice shoreline property. All the appliances and supplies we needed, and was nice and clean. Close to walking/biking. Beds comfortable. When we had a concern it was resolved quickly. Visited with some lovely neighbors who were friendly. Would recommend to adults who are able to go up and down stairs easily, and not families with toddlers. There is very nice decorations adorning this home.
