Quelles vacances merveilleuses!!! It was wonderfull and so relaxing being at the Lake House. Everything we needed was provided, I so much appreciated not needing to pack sheets and towels for the whole family. There's even a washer and dryer, which came in pretty usefull since the snow was quite wet! Our for children loved playin in the snow, we even built a big snowman! It was so quiet when we were there, we only saw 1 car. The owners a great and go out of their way to make your stay perfect. The only thing missing are shades or curtains as the kids were awake with the sun every morning! We are thinking of going back, mayby in the fall to see all the colors! And we are telling all our friends what a great place this is! Merci beaucoup pour votre merveilleux chalet! Monique, Eric et nos 4 enfants!

This was our first time renting a vacation home (through HomeAway or at all!) and we could NOT be more pleased with our experience. The photos and description don't do the place justice - the home was immaculate, well-stocked, and beautiful. We made good use of the hot tub and fireplace during our 7-night stay! It's a bright, airy house with lots of windows and skylights, comfy furniture and plenty of space! Well WELL worth the price. The owners were prompt, excellent communicators - the driveway/walkway were taken care of immediately after the snows - and they even supplied us with more firewood [and birdseed for the feeder - those little fluffball birds are adorable!] mid-week. We thoroughly enjoyed the area - snowshoeing on the lake and meeting a friendly neighbor or two [and their friendly pups!], going for snowy walks, taking tons of pictures, seeing movies in both Essex and Morrisville, etc. Our tummies enjoyed the area, too - what with Cabot cheese, Ben & Jerry's, Green Mountain Coffee, the Magic Hat Brewery in South Burlington, Lake Champlain Chocolates, Positive Pie (pizza, etc) in Montpelier, delicious cider doughnuts - and the list goes on! What we craved most, though, was quiet and alone-time, a bit of isolation and a ton of relaxation - and this home delivered! Beautiful views and not too many people (in the dead of winter!) made this the ideal place for us to celebrate our honeymoon (and my new husband's birthday!). If I could think of only one thing that could've made our stay a tiny bit better - it would've been a way to connect our iPod through the stereo/speaker system [which was excellent, by the way]. We tried and tried - bought a special cord and everything - still couldn't figure out a way to do it. Perhaps there is a way - we just never got it! The 25-disc changer was well stocked with artists we love, though, so we enjoyed the Springsteen, Beatles, CSNY, James Taylor, Indigo Girls, George Thorogood, etc all the same :) We'd HIGHLY recommend this place to any of our friends and family - and we'd most definitely visit there again! Thank you, Deanna and Jeff! - Janet and Will Jacob Sturbridge, MA

This Lake Eden Home far exceeds the pictures and description. The view is spectacular even in early February before and after a 14 inch snow storm. This was the best vacation home we have ever rented. Everything in the listing and then some is there. The kitchen has a multitude of seasonings and spices and all the necessary appliances to prepare a gourmet meal, except possibly cooking knives (I carry my own). All the comforts of home are there and possibility a few you did not think of. Even the drive and walkway to the house where plowed and shoveled during the snow storm we experienced during our stay. It is a great place and we will highly recommend it to our family and friends.

My girlfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here over a three-day weekend in January. Perfect romantic getaway in the winter. The view of the lake was fabulous and the snow covered mountains on the horizon were very picturesque. We took full advantage of the jacuzzi in the master bedroom and the fully stocked kitchen. A great sound system throughout the house and a fireplace with plenty of firewood were two of our favorite features as well. We had a great time and hope to be back. It was a great rental for the winter and seems like it would also be great during the summer as it is right on the lake. There are two bedrooms with their own bathrooms and plenty of space in each so this place would be perfect for two couples traveling together. Plenty of common area space as well. The only disadvantage for us during the weekend was that the TV is in the basement living area, not the main living area. This was a minor inconvenience as we were trying to watch the Pats game while cooking. The house is also a bit far from town, but that is nice if you are looking to get away from it all. Other than that, Jeff and Deanna were very accommodating and although we never needed to get in touch with them, they made themselves available in case of any questions. We ate at Hen of the Wood one night which was fantastic, but a bit of a drive. The fresh seafood at Stowe Seafood was off the charts and we highly recommend it. Deanna made this recommendation for us and she was spot on. We highly recommend this house to others who are looking for a rural getaway spot where you can unplug and enjoy the Vermont country.

Arrived late afternoon to a beautiful house, we were all blown away. The house is very nicely located with a gorgeous view of Lake Eden. Once inside there was a welcome note from Jeff and Deanna with some instructions. The house is in very nice condition, very clean and extremely well equipped. Directly started a fire and sat down just to embrace it all. Plenty of stacked firewood and I think we more or less had a fire going for three days. The hot tub in the master bedroom can fit more then two, more then three is pushing it. The only slightly negative is the lack of good knives in the kitchen? The House is truly a hidden gem in Vt and we will come back!

We arrived on December 23rd and stayed 4 nights. We have two young boys (2 and 4). This house is simply amazing. It is extremely clean, super well maintained, the kitchen is fully equiped (not one thing was missing), bathrooms are impecable. There are tons of huge windows and from each a beautiful view of the lake, the mountains...the great outdoors!! Coming from a busy city, this place was like a dream come true. We were able to relax and enjoy the snow with the kids. After playing outside we were able to go back in and warm up next to a nice warm fireplace, watch satellite tv, connect to the internet via WiFi (much needed for my kids Netflix addiction). The owners (Deanna and Jeff) are great. They decorated the house for the holidays and even had a christmas tree and left a gift under the tree, which my kids spotted as soon as we arrived. They left us some sleds for the kids to play with, which were much enjoyed. Although we were in the middle of nowhere, it was really not that far from anything. A short drive took us to grocery stores, to the village of Stowe, sleigh rides etc.. If you want to relax, I strongly recommend this property. It was amazing in the winter and I can't wait to go back perhaps in the summer or the fall for the changing of the color of the leaves. Thank you so much Deanna and Jeff for a wonderful stay in your house. Delphine and family

We had a great stay at this house. The owners, Jeff & Dee, were excellent at preparing the house for us. Instructions for the fireplace and jacuzzi were also left for us. There was not a thing that we wanted for. The house is better than as described. I was not expecting the full array of cookware and spices in the house. The house itself is beautifully maintained. It is ideal for up to three couples. We were only 3 people in total so we had plenty of extra room. The view is fabulous....we were right on Lake Eden with a perfect view of Jay Peak. The Bread and Puppet museum is a must visit. We also made our way to the Rowell Farm in Walden where Maple Syrup is made, and sold for @25% less than anywhere else. Kayaking on Lake Eden was a treat. All in all I recommend this house highly and hope to visit again.

What a wonderful experience! Home was very comfortable and in a spectacular location. Views of lake, shoreline, mountains in the distance, and changing autumn leaves made this the perfect venue for our "small family reunion" (2 sons, 1 daughter in law, myself and my wife). Upon arrival, absolutely everything was found just as "advertised". From the Kayak-ing and Canoeing on the lake, to the comfortable fireplace and modern kitchen... everything was exactly as it should be for a worry-free vacation. The only down-side is that we only had 3 nights ! We all agreed that it would be a good idea to return at a later date and enjoy this home and its surroundings many more times in the future. definitely a 5-star stay ! Thanks !!!

The house is lovely and well located for a beautiful view of the lake. The house is beautifully provisioned and we had everything we needed for a few days of rest and relaxation. The owners were very helpful and forthcoming with information about the area from local mini-markets to restaurant and activities suggestions. The lake was lovely, clear and warm enough to swim in. Kayak and canoe were great to use and conveniently located. We'd love to come back and recommend this home to anyone looking for a great vacation spot. Thanks, Liisa & Alan

We just returned from a week vacationing at this beautiful property. It was perfect for the two of us and our two teenage children. The house is situated up high so there are beautiful views of the lake and mountains. It is fully equipped from the kitchen to the fire-pits to the stereo to the waterfront. The owners have thought of everything to make a vacation relaxing and enjoyable. The lake is a great place to swim - no weeds!! Deanna and Jeff were very helpful both before our arrival and during our stay when we had a couple of questions. We hope to return and wish we could every season!

What an outstanding week in north central Vermont. The accomodations for the entire family were the best we have had in many years of renting in Vermont. The house was very well equipped from cooking utensils to the kayak located at the water. I brought my 16.5 ft boat and the dock was absolutely perfect for tying off to after every trip out on the water to fish. We took days trips to several different towns and cities from Waterbury to Burlington.......and discovered a great little restaurant in Cabot, VT while on a visit to the Cabot Factory. The only reason I would not give this stay a perfect 5 stars is that the fishing was not the greatest (but we were able to find some nice smallmouth and big pickerel) All I can say is that week went by way too fast and everyone wished we could have stayed another week.......maybe next year ! Thanks again....The Lacey Family

Excellent property, beautiful house, and grounds. The owners take great care of this rental it has everything you need. Water sun and fun great for families or couples. My favorite was the 2 firepits on the property. The drive to hen of the woods restaurant is well worth the 40 minute drive to morrisville luckily we were able to get a reservation. Plenty to do from fishing to swimming great beach area on the property.

The lakehouse is very cozy, clean, and has everything you need for fun outdoors or just to cook in the kitchen. Deanna and Jeff are always available if you need anything. My husband and I stayed for two weeks and had a wonderful vacation! The house is absolutely beautiful. We loved that the fact that the house was updated and super clean. Waking up to beautiful views of the lake every morning or enjoying them from the jacuzzi tub in the master was such a treat! We liked that the location was central to 3 ski mountains, because when you're on a two week ski vacation one mountain gets kinds boring.... We were able to ski Stowe, Smugglers Notch and Jay Peak! We had a great time and would definitely recommend this vacation rental to any of our friends and/or family, can't wait to come back!

What a great rental experience! The previous reviewers definitely had it right when they said what a pleasure it was to interact with Deanna and Jeff. They were so friendly and more than helpful - they gave us on-point recommendations, plowed/shoveled the 2+ feet of snow that fell, and even got one of our snowmobiles running when we were having trouble getting it started. The house was fantastic too - really clean, nice layout, well-appointed kitchen (plenty of dishes, pots & pans and cooking utensils - which are sometimes lacking when you are renting a vacation home), and even complimentary firewood!!! Then after providing all of that, they made it clear that if we needed anything else (how could we?) to feel free to give them a call. I look forward to renting from them again in the not too distant future - hope to check out Jay Peak (skied Stowe this trip). Note: the only reason I am giving a 4 (rather than 5) star rating is that the distance to the restaurants we were interested in trying was just a little far for us 25 min. +

All I can say is WOW! What a great home, Thank you so much to Jeff and Deanna for opening up this wonderful property. Hospitality was unbelievable, from discount tickets to the local ski areas to the continuous communication on where to go, where to eat, what to do for fun... This was my wifes 1st visit to Vermont and thanks to Jeff and Deanna she is sold on the "annual" trip to the Lake Eden home. Can't wait until next year but it looks like we my be back sooner! House is in the perfect location between Stowe (45min to lifts) and Jay Peak (38min). Take advantage of the Green Mountain Market on the way to Stowe, Ingalls is ok for some groceries but a bit pricey so take the 20min drive to the larger grocery store. Also, Jay Peak can really be your town of choice considering the mountain, the pump house and Ice Haus. All local shops are great and this house truely allows you to disconnect while soaking up all of the luxuries of home (and then some). Jeff and Deanna, Thank you... Thank you... Thank you!

My friends and I were scrambling for a place to stay after our original plans for our girls' weekend to Stowe fell through. Boy, I've never been so glad to have to change my plans. Serendipity stepped in, we stumbled up this home, and had the most excellent long-weekend experience. The owners were attentive from the first minute we contacted them about the property. Each communication was warm and personal and the owners were very accommodating of our needs. Even when we were significantly delayed in arrival, they were available late in the night to assist us if needed. And, they were thoughtful enough to consider our "sleeping in" needs before coming out to plow the driveway and shovel the walk. Now that's hospitality! The house is fantastically situated on Lake Eden and the views from any room are magnificent. The interior is very cozily appointed and every amenity was provided. The owners provided recommendations for local eats and attractions as well as suggestions for discounts for the season. Without a doubt, any of the ladies in our party would recommend this house for an very enjoyable getaway. I, personally, already plan on returning to their home in the summer for some warm weather activities. Thank you for a magnificent experience!

We booked the house 2 days before Thanksgiving as a romantic gateway. The owner were prompt in replying and setting the transaction up which was great. We felt really lucky to have found a place available and we were not disappointed once we arrived at the property. There was snow all around and the view from the house was really beautiful. It was very quiet and we spent 3 lovely days cooking (great kitchen with all the stuffs you need), listening to music (great stereo system) and reading close to the fire place. It was very quiet and ... perfect for us. Waking up in morning with the view on the lake straight for the master bedroom bed was also pretty special. I would love to check it out again in the summer time, I am sure it is a different atmosphere but probably equally good.

Owner response: Thank you for the Wonderful written review. We strive to provide an open and inviting atmosphere for our guest. We look forward to having you stay with us again at the time of your choosing, but the summer is a Wonderful time to relax and enjoy the Lake life. The Winter time is more secluded than any other time of year, but has the Fireplace relaxing atmosphere and location to the 3 Ski areas, if you choose to Ski. Otherwise the house is a great place in the winter for a book, cooking, relaxing and to just plain recharge. It sounds as if you acheived your goal, we hope to see you stay again in the future.

I booked this house for a weekend get-a-way with a bunch of my best girlfriends. We were looking for a house/location that wasn't too far of a drive from Boston but that would offer hiking, cycling, shopping, and relaxation for a weekend. This house is beautiful. It's new, cozy, and furnished/stocked with everything you will need to have a relaxing weekend with friends/family. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer. I would definitely return and hope to do so at some point when it's a bit warmer. The house is located about 20 minutes from Stowe, and we went on a hike on the Long Trail which was a 10 minute drive. It was a great (mild) hike and we had a wonderful experience. The house is also on Lake Eden which offers a great view and many activities (when it's warm) such as kayaking/swimming. The house has a fireplace which we used all weekend and a TV downstairs. The kitchen is new and well equipped. The owners were very nice and accommodating via email and I would definitely recommend staying here for a romantic or fun weekend retreat. I had such a lovely experience and I would highly recommend this property. It's definitely worth the 4 hour drive from Boston. The price was also reasonable. It's also not too far from Burlington so we stopped by the Ben & Jerry's Factory on our way back home. There was a ton to do in the area so you can definitely find activities for everyone. Many thanks to the Woods family for making my trip fabulous. I hope to visit again soon!! -Valerie & friends

From the moment you see the house you feel welcomed. From the moment we entered through the door, it felt like our home. We had all we needed and more. Our plan was to shut off the world and completely relax and that we did. The lake was not too busy, it was perfect for a relaxing kayak ride around the lake watching the loons, ducks and saying hi to friendly neighbors. Laying in the sun on the grass by the water, swimming, reading, or fishing was exactly what we wanted. We enjoyed a seven course meal with wine pairing at the Cliff House on Mount Mansfield that was a magnificent three hour dining experience. We did the Arbortrek Canopy Adventures Zip Line at Smugglers Notch and had lots of fun. I also enjoyed doing some local antiquing. If you want to be more adventurous there is hiking, biking and more. I would highly recommend this property if you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle and let nature surround and bring peace to your soul. Try it you'll like it!!

Owner response: John, Thank you for taking the time to comment on our Lake house and property. We try not only to meet our guests' expectations, but to exceed them whenever possible. We enjoy hearing about the experiences and adventures of our guests. Not only how they enjoyed the property and the Lake, but also local antiquing, fine dining, and now we can add the zip line experience. Best Wishes and we look forward to your return in the future. We have stayed at many lake front camps in Vermont during our summer visits and this was by far our best experiance yet. We definately plan on coming back to this camp next year as we had a fabulous stay during the 4th of July week. The camp is located on a quiet, private dead end road. The camp was very clean and comfortable. There are some stairs inside the camp but they were not a problem for our 4 year old. We enjoyed relaxing at the patio on the deck while grilling, and overlooking the waterfront from the master bedroom. On the 4th we watched private fireworks from neighboring camps. We also loved the private beach area and spent most of our time there. It was clean and it was great for the kids as it was shallow enough for them to play in that we didn't have to worry about it dropping off. We also did some fishing- caught some huge rainbow trout and paddled around in the canoe. There are quite a few stairs to get down to the lake/private beach- I would say about 100 steps but once you get down there is was well worth it! We spent almost every night down there at the camp fire. If you are looking for a weekend get away or a summer vacation spot this is the place to stay!

Owner response: Ashley, Thank you for the overwhelming vote of confidence in our property. We have been working feverishly this spring to make upgrades for the summer and sounds as if they have paid off! There will be more this fall as clearing the view is continuing for even better site from the house. We look forward to having you visit again in the future, Best Wishes from the Wood Family
