We spent over two weeks at the property. As stated in my review title, the sandbar off the dock steps is very nice. It's great for kids and adults. For the price we expected as much. What we didn't expect, and which was not stated in the VRBO description of the property, was the continuous presence of the owners in guest cottage less than 50 ft from the property! We had very odd encounters with one member of the family, who thought nothing of shouting through the screen door at 830 pm, muttering annoyedly about why the door was locked?!, and asking for his fishing poles inside the house. It became apparent that the family was renting out the main house due to financial difficulties. They made comments to us about how cramped they were feeling in their tiny cabin without air conditioning. It was very uncomfortable! Their presence for the entire two+ weeks of our stay was not disclosed before we arrived. Once there, what were we to say? Before renting, I would check with the owner to see if they will be staying on site. Everyone in my party, along with guests, found the setup extremely awkward. We would not return under these circumstances.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

home was beautiful, so many perks, very charming. Anything you would forget , was there. from the roasting forks, crock pots, dishes, tons of towels, pillows, quilts, plenty of lounge chairs and seating by the fire and dock. The pictures and history of the lake area on the walls and in books were amazing. The lake front was right there when you walked out on deck. The swimming area was great, couldn't ever ask for anything better, all sand and very shallow for our grandchildren, ages 2 to 5 loved it, they furnished a launch pad-raft for the kids. Kids loved it. Maria was very helpful and friendly, great family to rent from!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: Kim - I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay at the cabin. Thanks for the great review. Maria

Why the Owner Chose Spicer:
The cabin is located on the North Shore of Green Lake on a sand bar. It is a perfect spot for young children to learn to enjoy the water.
Green Lake is a beautiful lake 2 hours west of the twin cities. A weekend commute to Spicer does not include all of the hassel of going 'up north'.
There is a 27 hole golf course 2 miles from the cabin, a bike trail across the street that connects to the Glaicial Ridge Trail.
Winter activites include Cross Country Skiing at Sibley State Park and Prairie Woods Environmental Center. We are two miles from the snowmobile trails, and if the weather and Ice cooperate you can snowmobile directly from the cabin to miles of trails.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
In the Summer we enjoy swiming, fishing, skiing, sailing, biking, roller blading, walking and going to the Big Kahuna and Little Crow Water Ski Shows.
In the winter you can find us snowmobiling, ice skating and cross country skiing.
I also love sitting by the fireplace looking out at the lake on a winter day - it is so cozy.
