Welcome to beautiful South Bavaria! We offer a luxurious 2br/2ba vacation rental in a historical building constructed in the year 1900. Our castle, called Grafenburg, is located in the scenic Bavarian village of Oberaudorf, right on the Bavarian-Austrian border. Its location is more than spectacular: on the South side you have an unobstructed view to the impressive scenery of the Austrian Alps (Zahmer and Wilder Kaiser) and the Bavarian and Austrian Inn valley. On the backside of the building you find an idyllic mountain lake. Despite of this unique location the center of Oberaudorf where you can buy everyday commodities is in walking distance.
Our spacious and very quiet Residence Bavaria (120 qm, 1290 sq.ft.) is located on the 1st floor of the historical building Grafenburg (there is an elevator).
In the residence there is a living room that leads out onto a wonderful South facing balcony, with the most spectacular views of the Inn Valley and the Austrian Alps. The cosy dining room is connected to a gourmet kitchen, with top German appliances from Siemens, double fridge with ice maker/crusher, oven, ceramic glass cooktop, exhaust hood, dishwasher, microwave, electrical bread cutter, toaster, mixer, electric citrus juicer, filter coffee machine. The dishes are from Villeroy & Boch, cutlery from Christofle. The main bedroom has a king bed and an en-suite bath with bathtub and separate shower, two sinks and a toilet. From these two rooms you also have the spectacular view of the mountains. The 2nd bedroom has two beds that can be separate or together. The bathroom is across the hallway. This bathroom also has a bathtub, sink, toilet and washing machine with dryer. All the rooms are connected via a wide open hallway. All rooms have satellite TV with flat screens and wireless internet. For your enjoyment we also provide a wide selection of DVDs (in different languages), CDs, books and games. If you want to practice your swing we charge a fee to use our pitch and putt outdoor or indoor golf practice areas.
Grafenburg castle hosts an art gallery focussed on OLD MASTERS and some exquisite antiques and interiors. In the art gallery you find a French champagne bar. In combination with the famous museums in Munich you can spend an ART VACATION with us. For more information on our art gallery please check www.oldmasters-champagne.com.
The distance to Munich, Salzburg, Innsbruck and Kitzbühel is only 80 km (50 miles), so you can easily access the famous Salzburg Festival, Munich with the Oktoberfest, its prestigious museums and art galleries, the opera house, endless shoppping in Maximilianstrasse. The famous castles of King Ludwig II, Neuschwanstein and Herrenchiemsee can also easily be reached.
For the skiers: you can ski in Oberaudorf in the ski areas Sudelfeld and Hocheck, by the way the longest floodlit ski slope of Germany can be found here. The biggest Austrian ski area, Skiwelt Austria is only 25 minutes away and world famous Kitzbühel around 45 minutes. In summer you can ski on the glacier in Hintertux/Austria.
For the golfers: you find an abundance of golf courses within half an hour distance, e.g. the golf course Wilder Kaiser in Ellmau/Austria with 27 holes.
For the gourmets: close by you can enjoy the fine cuisine of 3 star chef Heinz Winkler at the Residenz Heinz Winkler in Aschau as well as of 2 star chef Christian Jürgens at the beautiful Seehotel Überfahrt in Rottach-Egern.

My family (four adults) found this to be a very comfortable apartment, with plenty of room for everyone. It was spotless, with very charming details in the decor and furnishings, and a beautiful view. Also, my husband and son enjoyed use of the sauna. We found the internet connection a convenience, as it allowed us to search for information on things to do nearby. We also enjoyed visiting the village of Oberaudorf, which was exactly what we'd envisioned Germany to be. The photos on this website are a very good representation of what you get with this apartment. I would recommend it for anyone who would like to stay in an authentic German village, while having the city of Munich within an easy drive of approximately one hour.Did you find this review helpful? On our trip through Germany we wanted to stay in the Munich area and found this absolutely stunning castle at the Bavarian-Austrian border. It exceeded our expectations by far and the pictures cannot show the real beauty and charm of this place. The apartment was immaculately clean and beautifully furnished with modern and antique pieces. Especially nice was the underfloor heating in the master bath. Due to its unique location with the most fantastic views imaginable we were able to visit Munich Oktoberfest (absolutely spectacular, something you have to experience), Salzburg, world famous Kitzbühel and the impressive King Ludwig castle Herrenchiemsee, located on an picturesque island in Lake Chiemsee. The apartment has everything you might need: WLan with a printer, phone, international TV, not to forget the gym we used many times. The kitchen is superbly equipped and we thoroughly enjoyed having a glass of champagne while watching the sun set behind the mountains. The staff taking care of us ws excellent, the maid came by whenenver we needed her and even our teetime at the beautiful golf course Wilder Kaiser in Austria was organised. We can highly recommend to stay at this property, it's the experience of a lifetime.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

Beginning of January 2012 I had the pleasure of staying at the property for a week, the provided information is complete and correct. I liked especially the indoor sports facilities and the sauna after skiing, which I practiced in KItzbühel, just 40 minutes away from the castle. Another day I had lunch in South -Tyrol (Sterzing, Italy), also just an hour by car. It was also very relaxing to prepare meals in the wonderfuly equipped kitchen and having a "sun-downder" at the heated terrace. Conclusion: Real luxury combined with the best opportunities to enjoy culture and practice sports, a must for a return in summer to visit Salzburg - Festival and a trip to the Lake Garda (Italy).Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.
