  I have stayed in many villas in the Seminyak / Legian area over the last 5 years & this villa is definitely the best value budget villa available. Putu the manager took care of us the entire holiday, taking us to Tanah Lot, Ulluwatu, Dream Beach, Ubud & also to the owners Sandy & Ron's beautiful villa in Canggu for sunset drinks. You don't get such personalised service staying at a hotel and an opportunity to experience the real Bali. We stayed in villa 9B with a huge pool (most villa pools are plunge pools, you can do laps in this pool) & a large tropical garden surrounded by high secure walls. The powder room with 3rd toilet off the open air lounge/kitchen was a welcome addition not found in many villas. The air-conditioning worked great and cooled the rooms down quickly. We looked at 9A after guest had departed, it would be perfect to rent both villas for larger groups & still cheaper than most 3 or 4 bedroom villas in the area, giving more space and privacy if some guests wish to party in one pool while others want more peace for afternoon siestas. Putu's sister Komang serviced the villa every morning & his nephew cleaned the pool/garden daily. They both keep the villa and grounds immaculate & were so quiet & discrete, never intrusive. The beach, restaurants & shopping in Jl Seminyak all a 10min walk. For convenience and exceptional quality only 1min walk in both directions are Lestari Restaurant fresh pasta dishes & Lasal Restaurant Spanish Tapas. Lasal's main courses Pork Belly, Slow cooked Lamb & Wagu Beef Stew are sublime. For sunset drinks Crystal Palace next to Lifeguard Hut between Jl 66 and Jl Dhyana Pura 5-7PM Happy Hour. Great cocktails and service on the sand whilst kicking back on the beanbags or sit upstairs on the sunset viewing platform. For an unforgettable Wednesday night out go to Santa Fe Bar & Grill on Jl Dhyana Pura to see World Fusion Concert Saharadja Band, the most amazing vocals & musicians & only 5min walk from villa. Opposite Santa Fe is a boutique called Shirley Lane owned by a lovely woman originally from Byron Bay with the most amazing Bohemian style custom clothing & leather goods. Leather boots & sandals custom made to your foot in 2 days for $70 AUD. Oberoi district, Potato Head Beach Club & Cocoon Restaurant only a 5min taxi ride. Kreol Kitchen 5min walk awesome fusion comfort food for breakfast & lunch. We would buy takeaway and reheat it in the villa microwave. We have found paradise without the expensive price tag.

  Exec Summary - Tree Frog's staff is great, the villa is OK, and the immediately surrounding area is less than desirable. I stayed at Tree Frog for 11 days in Feb of 2013 with my wife and 7 month old baby. The staff (Putu - manager/driver and Widi - cleaning lady) made the trip. They perfectly handled every request we had (massages, babysitting, etc.). Our stay would have been a lot less enjoyable if they were not there. The villa itself is a bit run down. While the outdoor space is attractive, it is pretty much unusable due to the lack of ceiling fans, mosquitos and uncomfortable/low-quality furniture. Most of our time at the villa was spent in the air conditioned bedroom. The villa is located on the east side of Seminyak, very close to Legian. Unfortunately, Kuta's unattractiveness has made its way to the villa's neighborhood. The nearest high street is full of tourist shops/restaurants. You will need to drive (or get a taxi) to get to any decent shops or restaurants (or a decent beach). Additionally, it seems that a number of 'spas' catering to sexual tourists have sprung up nearby. If that is not your thing, you probably want to avoid the area after dark. I should mention that I specifically asked the owner (Sandy) prior to booking about the surrounding area. I explained that I had last been to Bali ten years prior and was concerned that Seminyak might have become too touristy. She assured me that the area was fine, nothing like Kuta or Legian. After almost a week of keeping an open mind, we decided that the area was not how she described in our previous email exchanges. After we had stayed at the villa for a week, I contacted the owner, explaining that we felt that she had misrepresented the surrounding area and that we would like to move to another villa (and get a refund for the last few days of our reservation). She became very upset/emotional and accused me of calling her a liar and threatening her (none of which was the case). Needless to say, this made the last few days of our trip less than enjoyable.

Joe emailed me each day for advise on Restaurants dinning out, eating in, babysitting, massages etc his email were very friendly He seem very happy. Then after 7 nights stay i received a phone call first I thought he was ringing to say what a good time he was having. My staff told me he was having a great time, surfing, massages in the villa some evening meals cooked by staff with his friends, babysitter when required etc.having a ball I was so surprised when he wanted a refund for 3 nights. I explained that is was too late to get another booking his reply was that he had leverage over this with the threat of a negative review. he wanted to move to Canggu where his friend is staying (Believe from staff that he now staying in Canggu for 2 more weeks) To any one reading this review do not be put off Seminyak by this, the beach is lovely with a great boardwalk with many cafes, The restaurants are among the best in Bali. At the end of the laneway where the villa is there a 2 great restaurants La Sal and Lestaris. Ke de ta. So Ho any many more are close by. Thousands of tourists visit Seminyak and love it they come back again and again , I asked if he had been in to Kuta to compare but he had not so I feel he has judged Seminyak rather harshly . As he said he was in Bali 10 years ago, Bali has changed since then. As far as my villa is concerned I am perplexed by what he said. I had the villa painted through out the day before he arrived, It is clean and very fresh my staff maintain the villa daily to keep the standard of the villa to a high level. The pool is sparkling, the garden very tropical and trimmed at all times. My furniture is Bali style Bamboo with very thick cushions which I replace regularly to alleviate wear and tear. I take pride in the standard of my villa and the maintenance by my staff.

  It's one of the best places I've stayed in. It's homely, well kept, well organized and extremely convenient. The rooms are big and spacious. The bathrooms are clean and massive. The lawn area is out of this world. The pool is clean and a fantastic place to relax with friends and family. It's located in the heart of seminyak. Great food places near by. Bike rental places, spas, currency exchange shops and 24 hour mart are a stone's throw away. The domestic help is excellent and they come and clean the place every morning allowing you to enjoy the villa to the fullest. I would recommend this 100%. It's value for money and it's '5 star'. While the other reviews mention ages 55+, I was in a group of 5 23 year olds and we had a blast. Pawan

  Thank you Sandy for a wonderful family holiday at your beautiful villa. With 2 large king size bedrooms each with an ensuite opening onto gardens, the open living lounge/dining area overlooking the pool and gardens was really special and the daily housekeeping and pool cleaning kept everything looking great. Sandy also provides a mobile phone for local calls and an information sheet. Our children loved jumping in the pool and running around the garden everyday. The villa is also in a quiet alley so no concerns with loud music at night. We had arranged airport transfers as well as a day trip to Ubud with Sandy and she has a great driver who was very friendly, always on time and resonably priced. We walked to the beach several days, which is an easy 5 min walk and would recommend pulling up a beanbag at a beach resturant and enjoying a drink watching the sunset over the waves. Also, easy walking to boutique and souvenir shops, resturants, bars and spas. We would also recommend the Delicious Onion for tapas style food and cocktails (just around the corner from villa). We would definitely recommend this villa to friends and family for location, quality and friendly service. Thanks again, Sandy!

  We stayed at Tree Frog Villa for 6 days and it was great! My husband, two infants, mother and sister all stayed here and we were all very comfortable. The villa was clean, pool fantastic and the staff and Sandy are a pleasure to deal with. The location was also good and cabs were very easy to pick up at the end of the lane way. I would have no hesitation staying here again. Michelle

  Sandy was wonderful to deal with and made the booking so easy. We took 3 teenage kids and they were in heaven at the villa. They loved their own space and freedom to 'chill' that a hotel would never have offered. Thanks for making our holiday a family success.

  The villa was so much more than the photos say. It is such a gorgeous villa and very comfortable. Always well maintained and clean. The housekeeper is lovely and polite always. In communicating, Sandy was always very good at returning emails and SMS messages at all times of the day. I would definitely recommend this villa. I love the area and all it has to offer. After driving around Bali, I realized that Seminyak is the best area, so I was really happy that I chose this villa. Everything one needs is within walking distance. Bintang, the local supermarket is a short walk away as well as laundry services, restaurants, bars, clubs and the beach. Bring mosquito repellent as they can show up and bite. It wasn't every night that I needed repellent, but at some restaurants (most restaurants are open air) the mosquitoes were very much present and hungry. I highly recommend VIP service at the airport on arrival to get through immigration. At US$25 a head, it's worth its weight in gold. I also highly recommend hiring a driver with a car as the driving in Bali is an obstacle race at any time of the day and it beats the whole tour bus thing as you can see what you want, when you want and leave when you like. The only thing I disliked was the fact that everyone smokes. We are a non-smoking family and it was a challenge to get away from cigarette smoke, but it won't stop me from returning.

  Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
