My husband and I rented the Spinnaker to celebrate a wedding anniversary. We could not have been happier. The home was lovely with spectacular water views from the many windows and decks. We were initially concerned that the home would be too big for the two of us; however, we felt that the layout accommodated two people extremely well. The lower deck was amazing for relaxing in the adirondack chairs and a romantic candlelight waterfront dinner under beautiful evening stars. The master suite bathroom with a shower for two and romantic two person jacuzzi was luxurious--just like in your own private resort. The hardest decision was where to enjoy our morning coffee--from the balcony watching the sunrise over Assateague or the screened in porch. Usually the sun deck won out. Spinnaker is very well located in a quiet private community surrounded by lots of pine trees and a short ride to the beach, restaurants, shops and a delicious homemade ice cream parlor. The owners were a delight to deal with and provided lots of information on local activities. This home is perfect for a romantic getaway--as the saying goes, "Virginia is for Lovers." We hope to come back next time with our canoe!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

We all soaked up the unforgettable beauty & tranquility of our stay in this spacious house so perfectly designed. The interior allowed us to relax and enjoy all the books, games, toasty fireplace and every TV Channel desired. The wonderful Spinnaker left nothing to be desired. Seven of us slept so very comfortable and the peacefulness & serenity of inside and out was 'Heaven on Earth'. We enjoyed superb dining in restaurants and here. We had a lovely time -- just the two of us, retreating for a long weekend from a frantic life. What a lovely place, and lovely views. I especially appreciated the thought that has gone into many of the features of Spinnaker -- the lighting, the la belong of the switches, the clever pass throughs from the kitchen and the decorating. My family and I just returned from a stay at the Spinnaker, just yesterday. We all had such an incredible time! The house is in a great location. It has such character, with all the comforts of home. Clean, tidy and organized. The things you hope for when renting a home. Within the home is a large fireplace which we used every night. Nine of us total, and plenty of room. Modern amenities, comfortable spaces, a view that you will find yourself gazing. I will recommend this house to anyone. My husband and I stayed at the Spinnaker with my adult daughter and her husband for a few days over the Thanksgiving holiday and were delighted with the peace and natural beauty of the house and area. While most of Chincoteague is considered quaint in its rustic charm, Spinnaker is a modern, comfortable residence that allows visitors to experience the beauty of the area without sacrificing quality. The unusual layout of the house allows family members enough places to escape, while the central "great room" is large and comfortable enough to accomodate larger family games or movie watching. Beds, pillows, couches, blankets all were spotless and comfy. The kitchen, while small, was large enough and fully equiped so we could prepare a full Thanksgiving meal, and the lovely dining area let us feel like we were in the middle of nature while we ate. The multiple porches and outdoor living areas allowed us to follow the warm winter sun all day without being windblown. The multiple levels of living areas, inside and out really made us feel like we could each spread out in our own "space" without crowding other family members. The TV/cable/dvd set-up - very important for after dinner football watching - was super easy to use, even for the elderly among our group. This house would be a great place for larger families or groups who don't like to be crowded into a conventional home and want to feel the beauty of nature that Chincoteague provides.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

Spinnaker is the ideal place to spend the Thanksgiving week with family. Nothing was lacking in the kitchen to prepare our feast and clean up was complete in no time with an excellent dishwasher and deep sink. We were lucky to have good weather so we could relax on both spacious decks and just enjoy the outdoors. Plenty of comfortable beds and no shortage of sumptuous bathrooms plus plenty of living and dining space. It was wonderful!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

My husband and I had several romantic days to enjoy Spinnaker Waterfront ourselves before our family arrived for a our traditional Thanksgiving dinner. The fireplace was great and the views were spectacular. We enjoyed walking at biking the beautiful natural beach and trails on Assateague Island and seeing the famous wild Chincoteague Ponies up close was a real treat. Even if you're not a Twitcher, the birding over Thanksgiving was fabulous -- this week is the popular WaterFowl Week and the snow geese were in as well as osprey and herons and so many other birds that I can't remember. The house had everything we needed to cook our Thanksgiving feast, and seated our family comfortably in the dining room. We even enjoyed our morning coffee on the relaxing screened porch most mornings, except one morning we decided to catch the sunrise over Assateague from the private balcony on the loft and it was worth getting up early for it! The great room was the place we kept migrating to -- it had 3 really comfy chars and two large sofas, plus great water views in several directions and even a real porthole. The fireplace (thank you for the firewood -- that was a very nice touch) made it even nicer to sit around and reminisce. The house was clean and well cared for with many extra things that were not expected in a rental, but were greatly appreciated. The wi-fi and cable tv were easy to operate and there was a basket with menus from all the local restaurants as well as other information about the area. We did not get over to the Wallops Island NASA visitor center on this trip but did manage to get to two visitor centers on Assateague Island and one of Chincoteague Island -- all were very helpful. At first we were disappointed that we couldn't bring our dog, but then we learned that pets are not permitted to cross the bridge from Chincoteague Island onto Assateague Island because it's a National Wildlife Refuge in addition to being a National Seashore. Pat was great to deal with, made reserving a breeze, and answered all our questions and offered great tips which made our trip even more enjoyable. The house was perfect for our whole family and the grand children enjoyed crabbing from the private dock so much that they voted to come back next year. This house is really perfect for all seasons--it will be difficult to choose! We will plan to do some kayaking the next time we visit. We'll be back!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

We absolutely loved the new bathrooms!! They look as if they were always there. The addition enhanced so many aspects of this already beautiful & tranquil retreat. We can't imagine now how we rinsed off 4 sandy kids everyday before the outdoor shower. The boys fished and crabbed all week long. We made use of the new deck … it was my husbands favorite! What a peaceful week! I was hoping for a quiet getaway to spend Sept 11 and I found it here. Having my son and his girlfriend come down from Vermont was an added blessing. I truly appreciate how much this rental property felt like "home". We enjoyed breakfasts on the porch and cooking dinners together. About the owner: That's our Grandchildren delighted to check the crab traps at Spinnaker Waterfront's private dock on a private canal which leads directly into Oyster Bay. Crabbing is a favorite activity for young children visiting Ponyisland rental home, especially for the first time. We enjoy birding and hiking the trails on Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge and the wonderful sand beach on Assateague National Seashore. There's always so much to do and lots of FREE things for families with children from the NASA Wallops Island Visitor Center to the 2 Visitor centers with Ranger activities and schedules. We love the biking trails and picnic tables at the beach for grilling our fresh caught seafood dinner. We love wildlife and also really enjoy exploring the Eastern Shore Area, including Smith and Tangier Islands in the Chesapeake Bay. Fun to explore as one of the islands doesn't have cars ... .you can ride around in golf carts or walk ... it's small. Just take a boat over from Crisfield MD about an hour away. Also Rehobeth DE and tax free shopping is always one of our stops if we're heading north as well as the famous Thrasher's French Fries at the bottom of Ocean City's boardwalk. If we head south, we always stop in Onancock and mosey around the little roads on the eastern shore discovering great out of the way seafood restaurants and quaint towns. Sometimes we go out on charter head boats from Chincoteauge. If we're going south toward Virginia Beach, we always stop in the middle of the famous Chesapeake Bay bridge tunnel and watch the fishermen -- haven't fished ourselves there yet, but it's on our bucket list! We really were looking for a place to relax that was only a couple of hours from Philadelphia PA and Washington DC and we're thrilled to have found Chincoteague and been able to build in Oyster Bay after finding a wonderful waterfront lot that was larger than others. Plus it had stunning water views and way the perfect place to build our dream house.

As renters we couldn't find exactly the house we wanted so had it architecturally designed, and built to order. We were very fortunate to have stayed in several of Richard Vesely's designed homes on Chincoteague Island that were available as vacation rentals. He helped us pick out the waterfront lot and then he designed the house to capture the incredible water views in 3 directions. We knew we wanted a private dock for boating, fishing, canoeing and kayaking. We knew we wanted a single house and lots of privacy. We wanted to be able to swim off of the private dock and be near the beach. We like being on the eastern side of Chincoteague Island VA to view Assateague Island from one of our 3 decks. We wanted an enclosed porch to enjoy the water views and for al fresco dining. We wanted to enjoy fantastic sunrises and sunsets, and have room for a King bed, and have back yard for grilling and kids to play outside but still close to shopping, town and restaurants. We wanted a boat slip and plenty of parking and room for a boat trailer or two. We wanted to be near great fishing and crabbing. We like this location as we can enjoy the bay views by Assateague channel. We wanted room to build a wonderful single family luxury waterfront vacation rent house that was also a luxury waterfront rental vacation home that we could share with those looking for a nice, waterfront vacation rental on Chincoteague Island for families but we also wanted it to be a perfect romantic place for honeymooners or those looking for a romantic getaway. Sure, we have wi-fi, but we also have special nooks and crannies -- enjoy your morning coffee from one of our private decks (we have 3 balconies) overlooking Assateague or enjoy it on our screened in porch both with fantastic water views! Bring the family for a fantastic summer vacation with lots of free activities for the children and they're educational too! Perfect place for home schooling parents to bring the kids. Catch your dinner from our private dock and enjoy dining on our screened in porch. We even supply the crab traps. If you're from NY or New England or Ohio, PA, West VA, S Carolina or GA .. you're only hours away from one of the best vacations you ever had ... one with memories that will last a lifetime. We know how special family vacations are and how few there are over a lifetime, so we personally make your reservation and make sure that you have all of the information you'll need for that truly special vacation. And we also have someone who lives on the island who is on call should you need anything or even just want to ask for a recommendation for a restaurant!
She's been caring for Spinnaker for many years and considers all of our guest to be 'her guest' doing everything she can to make it nice for you! Where else can you just reach into the kitchen from the screened in porch and grab another cup of coffee? When you want a rental house and not a condo ... think of Spinnaker Waterfront. If you have allergies, Spinnaker has always been a no pet home as our family members have severe allergies also. We love pets but cannot host them at Spinnaker ... we hope you understand. But bring your birding book and binoculars as you never know what you'll see at Spinnaker
