Just returned from 5 days in Umbria at Cinque Querce & Mezzo. It's a wonderful, spacious house on a nicely landscaped property with a fine pool and view of the Italian countryside. Though secluded, the property is not a far drive from exquisite Italian cuisine and good shopping. The owners and hosts were friendly, helpful, considerate, and added a lot to our stay with their knowledge of the area. We highly recommend it for an Italian getaway and are already checking our calendars for when we will be able to return!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We found Cinque Querce & Mezzo to be very well presented with a house equiped with all your needs. The pool and gardens were beautiful and the hospitality of Dennis and Gilly wonderful. The Roman wine cellar was very popular with our older family members. Dennis and Gilly arranged a Italian cooking class in our kitchen which proved both informative and a great deal of fun. The views from every window of the property are picture postcard. On our first evening we watched the sunset while sipping on excellent Italian wine and eating fruit from the trees in the adjoining orchard. Owners have provided a very useful list of shopping , eating and sight seeing contacts and locations in the area. We sampled a few of the ristorante's in the area which had food and views to die for. All in all a AAA holiday rating and we were sad to leave.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

We were looking for a relaxing holiday in the sun at a comfortable villa with a pool, private but not remote from local amenities and restaurants with good food and wine..and that is exactly what we got. Fantastic spacious villa, beautiful grounds, great location with stunning views, fabulous pool area, and suitable for all ages. Dennis and Gilly were very welcoming and helpful hosts who could not do enough to ensure that our stay was as comfortable and as enjoyable as it could be. We combined relaxing days at the poolside with day trips to the likes of Sienna, Assisi and the Adriatic Coast. Wine-tasting, art&culture and fascinating old villages are all within easy reach. We also alternated between cooking at the villa with its great BBQ area and pizza oven and dinning out and the many good quality local restaurants. The villa at night has a special ambience at its hilltop position, under the stars and with panoramic views across the Tiber valley. It was a great place to spend a holiday and I cannot recommend it highly enough. We are already planning dates for our next visit. Enjoy!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

This house is absolutely breathtaking with killer views! The owners were amazing and so gracious. We truly came as strangers and parted as old friends. The pictures doesn't even do justice on how gorgeous this property is. The villa is beautifully landscaped and the smell of the wildflowers was intoxicating. The house was immaculately clean and the owners went out of their way to give us a fantastic support system. Definitely worth the value and repeat visits!Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2002
About the owner: Gilly is a garden designer and has many published books on gardens and interiors, and Dennis is a semi retired advertising man. We have 2 small and very friendly dogs and we both speak Italian as well as having a wealth of knowledge of this beautiful and unique part of Italy. Hence we can offer advice and information easily. We can arrange for a private chef to come and cook for you at the house, and this is charged at cost. All linens are provided including pool towels and are professionally cleaned. All bathrooms include a hairdryer and robe for each guest. Central heating is charged at cost during the colder winter months, but wood for the two wood burning stoves and additional fireplace is provided free of charge.
Why the Owner Chose Citta di Castello:
We chose the house as a home rather than a rental, but after being here for 10 years, we have recently purchased another property 10 km away and we are moving in April to an even larger property and yet another adventure.
The Unique Benefits at this Chateau / Country House:
The position of the house has been the most stunning and unique benefit. The hills above us are perfect for walking and enjoying the wildlife of birds, deer and many other parts of animal life.
The views from the house are magnificent yet we are only 5 minutes from great restaurants, shops and commercial activity. In other words the best of both worlds.
The privacy of the pool area is stunning and the 'al fresco' dining areas conducive to great lunches and dinners.
