My sister, brother and I (and our spouses) have an annual sibling weekend where we get away with no kids--just the 6 of us. We chose the Deflorin Stone Cottage Inn this year, and were pleasantly surprised! It's the most unique little house I've ever been in--I won't spoil the fun of giving too many details if someone is looking to rent it--but it was so fun to look through and see the historical points of the place. The house was extremely clean, it was a nice perk to have some bottled water and pop in the fridge we were able to enjoy, and the patio, back and side yards were so cute. There were all amenities available in the kitchen with updated appliances. We had a great time at the house and enjoyed the Holiday Fare Wine Trail as well during our stay. If you have trouble climbing stairs, this house is not a good choice. Excellent house to rent--highly recommend it!Recommended for: Girls getaway, sightseeing, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

Great location ! This house was awesome...well decorated, clean, and the owners were great to work with! Our favorite part was the outdoor patio. We would definitely come back!Recommended for: Girls getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway.

Great house. Stairs were a little steep but that's expected of an old home. Great location and a fantastic inside of the house. Plenty of room to spread out. Thank you so much for the great memories of Herman.Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

Our whole family stayed here for the weekend of my niece's wedding. We had a really nice relaxing weekend. The young adults (our kids) especially liked sitting on the back patio late at night just talking and taking in the nice surroundings. The house was very clean, we appreciated that, lots of nice towels too!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

Great place to stay and very reasonably priced!! Tons of room it fit all eight of us. Make sure you use the trolley as well. They picked us up at our house it was nice. I loved how the house had sodas, coffee and tea for us. It came in handy in the morning. The house was so beautiful and spacious, just make sure you can climb stairs if you rent the whole house. We will for sure be returning next year.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

This cottage was perfect for our girls weekend in Hermann. The location couldn't be better - within walking distance of the trolley stop (use the trolley! Kevin the trolley-man is very friendly and makes getting around Hermann effortless) and many restaurants and shops. Steve answered all of our questions quickly and was very personable and helpful. He made sure the house was filled with extras; water, soda, popcorn, coffee, charcoal for the fire pit, etc. We loved making our way through the house looking at all the antiques and remarked so many times about how clean everything was. Everything was in great working order and we did not need to contact the house managers at all during our visit. The photos online simply do not do the cottage justice. I have already recommended Deflorin Stone Cottage to several friends and have let Steve know that our group will be returning to stay again next year (if not sooner!)Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

About the owner: We are a family of 5! We all love Cross Country running, biking, and, of course, vacations. Lisa and Steve met at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois and are still active with the Cross Country and Track teams at Bradley. Our girls are in Junior High running for O'Fallon.
Why the Owner Chose Hermann:
We have always enjoyed Hermann's historic homes, wines, Katy Trail, and the community's German roots. Jerry and Marilyn Snell have done wonders with this historic home. We couldn't pass ownership up.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We enjoy the privacy and the DeFlorin home's history. We are right next to the historic St. George Catholic Church, just a few blocks away from the bustle of downtown. What a great view of the valley!
