My family and I stayed in this lovely home for four days. It is well-maintained, well-appointed and has the most beautiful gardens surrounding the house. We never wanted to leave. It is a nice walk into the charming town of Point Reyes with good restaurants and shops. There are also many beautiful hikes nearby in the park. The owner was most helpful and ready to assist with any questions or problems. We had initial difficulty with the wireless connection and she immediately responded to our situation and had the problem solved in a short period of time. I would highly recommend this property.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

Six friends got away for the weekend to enjoy the laid back culture and beautiful scenery in Pt Reyes National Seashore. We didn't know we would get this 24 hours a day. We hiked all day in wild flowers that literally came to our shoulders and retired to 31 Mesa in the late afternoon to relax, share stories, drink a little wine (and Chai Baba Chai from the Bovine Bakery), cook and eat together, and relax some more. Elegant and homey at the same time, 31 Mesa was a luxurious resting place to spend our inside time. Fabulous artwork and artifacts, comfy furniture and really comfy beds, well appointed kitchen, enough bathrooms so six women weren't always competing for space, and gorgeous gardens made the house a great place to get away from it all. Mila, our host, left us well prepared with coffee, milk and Strauss Family cream, cheese and fruit plate, and a nice bottle of wine. We went on the swing, walked the gardens, smelled the amazing roses from the deck, and checked out the soaking tub in the master bath. The only regret is not using the hot tub. Maybe on our next trip. Maybe next weekend...Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

About the owner: Our family ( 4 generations of Californians) have Northern California in our blood and the natural beauty of Point Reyes draws us together in this little edge of heaven, helping define us as outdoors lovers. We have spent much of our free time in adventure travel throughout the world. In the year 2000 we decided to celebrate by walking across Europe. We started at the North Sea and 4 months and 1,100 miles later found ourselves in Geneve. Traveling on remote pathways we stayed at countless vacation homes and bed and breakfasts. It was with that experience in mind that we designed One Mesa for short and extended stays. Our hope is that our guests will feel that our lovely home provides them the comfort and beauty that makes this the spot you will always come back.
Why the Owner Chose Point Reyes Station:
We discovered the wonder of Point Reyes over 30 years ago when we would come to the Pt Reyes National Sea Shore to be in nature and get away from the city on weekends. We fell in love with this amazing corner of the world, with its little village, surrounded by a wild and natural beauty that is hard to believe is so close to a metropolitan center. This is a perfect place to walk, hike, bike, do photography, horseback ride, kayak, paint, read, write or just plain BE. A great vacation spot for nature lovers and those wanting easy access to places like San Francisco, Napa, and Sonoma, while being in a quiet world away from the 'maddening crowd'.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
This lovely Mesa Road house, behind an electric gate, is on the sunny Pt Reyes mesa, is so centrally located that you can walk to town, drive 5 miles up to Marshall for a quick Kayak, an oyster or two on the Bay or pop over (HQ 2 miles away) to the National Sea Shore Park for an all day hike...or just sit on the decks, in the gardens and enjoy the sky, the birds and the hot tub right without leaving the property! The deer do come right into the back field and the occasional bobcat has been seen prowling about. We spot Hawk and other feathered friends just sitting still.
