At Beach Whisper, our oceanfront house on Ponte Vedra Beach, you feel as though you're in command of a gorgeous private beach, with rich dunes, sparkling waves, and soft sand. Bring the whole group to this luxurious family home and vacation in style!
Beach Whisper sits right on the dunes overlooking the wide, unspoiled sands of the beach. There are wonderful views from many rooms in the house, as well as from our big second-storey deck and first-storey patio. And these aren't glimpses -- they're sweeping panoramic vistas that put on a show every morning at dawn!
The second-storey deck is one of our favorite places, and we think it will be yours too. Located just off the living room, it offers a picnic table, safety rail, and outdoor staircase right down to the dunes. There's plenty of space here for sunbathing, reading, bird-watching, or even using your electronics (you have free wireless Internet at Beach Whisper). Let the murmur of the waves and the smell of the salty sea breeze restore your spirit out here!
Just in from the sundeck, the living room is another great place for the whole group to gather. Here you'll find a fireplace and an ultra-comfortable sectional sofa (part of which opens into a bed!) in front of a gigantic new HDTV with cable, VCR, DVD player, and all the trimmings. Watching a movie here is almost like being in the theatre -- so before you go to bed one night, cue up The Jungle Book and let the kids wake up as early as they like to watch it, while the adults snooze for another couple hours. Isn't vacation wonderful?!
The ocean views from the living room are lovely, but the dining room offers even more exciting vistas. Our cozy round table is inset in an alcove ringed with long, sunny windows. One look at the beach outside, and you'll be hard pressed to get anyone to eat any breakfast. Another day of adventures has begun!
The breakfast bar offers additional seating, and it's fun to watch the cook in our open-plan kitchen. Everything is sparkling clean here, and you'll be impressed by how well-stocked the cupboards are. No casting around for glasses or a can-opener -- you'll find al the cookware, dishes, and utensils you need waiting for you here.
There are 4 bedrooms at Beach Whisper, so everyone has a great place to stretch out. The master suite is on the second floor, and sports a super-comfy king-sized bed, a private TV, and great ocean views. The en-suite bathroom is luxurious too, with a separate walk-in shower and soaking tub.
The second bedroom offers 2 single beds, while the third contains a queen-sized bed. A second full bathroom is convenient to both of these rooms. And the fourth bedroom, on the ground floor, opens out to the patio. Lovely ocean views are yours in this room, which contains a double-sized bed and a TV. The third bathroom is on the first floor as well, with a separate door leading directly outdoors, so the kids won't track sand in from the beach!
You'll love how remote Beach Whisper feels, even though it's very close to a main road and convenient to both St. Augustine and Palm Coast. A private set of steps leads you down from the dune onto the soft sands, which are perfect for everything from sandcastle-building to sunbathing. Dolphins swim by our beach, and many types of birds are constant visitors. At any time of day, it's simply wonderful here!
And at Beach Whisper, we've tried to anticipate everything you need for your stay. We provide all the linens, pillows, blankets, and towel sets for every bedroom and bathroom, and our washer and dryer are at your disposal. You'll find beach toys of every description -- feel free to enjoy them. After visiting St. Augustine as a teenager, I always wanted to bring my family with me to enjoy the beauty of this historic city. This house was a beautiful vacation home and we really did enjoy our stay. We had a major issue upon arrival that was never taken care of, so that was very stressful. The house had not been cleaned, the sheets were dirty and rolled up on the beds, the towels were wet in the dryer, and it had not been vacuumed. Since we arrived at 11 at night, this was very stressful for our two children under 3. We called the house maintenance number and the office number several times and did not receive a call back for the entirety of our trip. The downstairs bedroom had all sorts of dead bugs on the mattress and on the floors. It did not look like it had been cleaned in quite some time. Even though we had this issue, we had a great vacation, which is why I scored this house as good. Had we not had the issue or someone had called us back, we would have scored it Excellent. Once we sorted out the initial stress of the house not being ready for our arrival, we had the most wonderful vacation. The house is the perfect getaway for St. Augustine. It was located very close to the city and isolated enough so that the beach was your own. Our children absolutely loved it. We brought our brother and sister with us, and at one point the huge comfy couch had four adults laying stretched out, not touching, during a nap. I highly recommend this house and location. Hopefully there is a new maintenance company or our issue was at least addressed at some point. I was hoping to return, but have also noticed that the price on the house has increased significantly.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children.

You're within a short car ride of historic downtown St. Augustine, the oldest city in America filled with pedestrian walkways with shops, cafes and first class restaurants. We are also close to Daytona Beach and the Daytona speedway and museum. We are also only a 1 1/2 hour drive to Orlando and Disney World/Universal/Sea World as well as 1 1/2 hour to the Kennedy Space Center. Our rental is also a short car ride to Ponte Vedra Beach and PGA golf Course and TPC as well as Jacksonville with the brand new St John's Town Center (with a Costco), Avenue Mall and River Front Arcade. There is also a minor league baseball team and a professional football team and stadium.
