Stunning Characterful House with Pool in Heart of Village

This magical house is brimming with character, and its owners have worked hard to preserve its original charm – exposed beams, ancient doors, thick stone walls, limestone floors - while bringing it imaginatively into the 21st century with a kitchen and bathrooms providing all modern conveniences and furnishings throughout that are a blend of antique and contemporary. Many items of furniture were collected at nearby Isle sur la Sorgue’s famous Antiques Market. From the moment you step inside, from the pedestrian lane that leads up to Roussillon's charming central Place de la Mairie, you enter another world. A spacious hall leads towards the split-level salon and dining room, (37sq m) where an open fireplace can warm the house on winter nights. Adjoining this is a TV room/music room/games room – whatever you like, with ample seating and a door leading out to the terrace. Double doors from the salon also lead on to the south facing terrace with its spectacular views over the ochre cliffs and, by night, the distant floodlit ruined castle of Le Marquis de Sade in Lacoste. With its ochre coloured awning to shield the summer sun this terrace is a perfect place for breakfast, lunch, a candlelit dinner or for just hanging out. Wander down from the terrace through an ancient vaulted passage to discover the charming private garden another great place to chill or chat. Then descend to the next level where thesurprisingly large pool (9x4m) is situated. You can spend the day here – there’s an electric barbeque, shaded dining table, sun loungers for an afternoon nap. One is surrounded by the bustle of village life and popping corks, but shielded from view by the surrounding properties and restaurants
Back inside the house, the sleek modern kitchen is equipped with ceramic hob, electric oven, microwave, dishwasher, and large freestanding fridge with freezer compartment. One makes ones way up the winding stone stairs to each of the four bedrooms, which are individually styled. Bedroom 1 has a double bed (140cm), ensuite bathroom – dark wood panelling with Philippe Starck shower, toilet and wash basin. Original fashion designs from the 1930s adorn the walls. Bedroom 2 - the Master Bedroom - has a double bed (160cm), high ceilings, a fireplace (not useable), and a long window overlooking the ochre cliffs. The bathroom opposite is decorated with large slate tiles, double wash basins, chrome heated towel rail, toilet and Jacuzzi bath. Bedroom 3 is accessed by a small ancient wooden door, has its own 'powder' room (ie toilet and contemporary resin washbasin) and with twin beds is a suitable kids room. The 4th bedroom with double bed (140cm) dominates the top floor of the house. One is up in the eves and away from the world. It has its own bathroom with toilet, washbasin and shower.
