We absolutely loved this place! We didn't want to leave. The photographs don't do the place justice. It's even BETTER. The owners were so helpful with everything plus giving directions to different attractions and recommending great restaurants in the area. The master suite, kitchen, theater room, game room the amenities just keep going. If you have a large group of people and want to get away this is the place to stay. You will not be disappointed!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

Owner info

About the owner: I love to immerse myself when I travel. It's about the experience, not the sightseeing. This is thanks to my fearless mother. When I was a child she packed my 2 sisters and I into a Chevette for a summer cross-country adventure. We visited Indian reservations, metropolitan cities, small missions, Mexican border towns and we went to see the site of the Watts riots. I want to meet the locals and feel what it is to live in a strange place, not just visit as a tourist. When I went to South Korea, I toured the DMZ. In Hong Kong, I visited posh hotels for tea, but also hung out in the slums checking out the markets and eating things that most people wouldn't imagine trying. I'm still unsure of the origin of some of the 'delicacies.' In Dubai, I strolled the streets in my burqa. In South Africa, I went on safari, but also visited the Soweto. As your hostess, I will help you experience the great State of Montana. Whether it's a day at the local county fair, horse trail rides in the wilderness of the Swan Range, kayaking or fly fishing, I'll help you make your experience here one of a lifetime!
Why the Owner Chose Kalispell:
I toured five states and looked at hundreds of properties before settling on the property now known as the Avalanche Ranch. Everything about this place is magical! Although only a short 15 minute drive to Bigfork, we have a remote feeling with soaring mountain views around us. We have abundant wildlife and are in very close proximity to numerous trailheads along the Swan Range. Every season brings a new beginning and a new adventure. Spring brings our young fawns, turkey poults, and bear cubs. Pastures green up and the warmer days find me hiking and gardening. Summer brings in glorious days for outdoor activities such as kayaking and horseback riding. The cool nights encourage us to gather with friends and loved ones around the outdoor fireplace. Fall greets us with the changing leaves of aspen and birch. Walking around in the woods we see all our wildlife coming off the mountains from their summer feeding grounds. Even Winter warms my heart as the place becomes a wonderland of snow and ice. The perfect excuse to grab a good book, a hot chocolate and sit by the fireplace in the Great Room when I should be out snowshoeing! A recent guest stated that a stay at the Avalanche Ranch should be on everyone's bucket list. I feel very fortunate that I've been able to experience it for so many years and I look forward to sharing it with you.

The Unique Benefits at this Estate:
The Avalanche Ranch is a place which creates lasting memories. The 2,000 sq. foot Great Room will bring your family and friends together in a cozy environment with it's down-filled couches, antique carpets and soaring 27-foot walk-through fireplace. The large terrace and patio is a great gathering place for the adults to relax while watching the kids playing in the yard and pond just a short distance away. Our screened porch is the perfect venue for enjoying the cool Montana nights in front of the fire whilst making S'mores. The lower level of the Lodge provides the ultimate entertainment experience with it's full bar, custom pool table, card table, and Theo Kalomirakis Theatre. When it comes time to retire for the evening, you will find yourself comfortably settled into your beautifully appointed bedroom with Frette linens.
The acreage of the Ranch features beautiful gardens, maintained pastures, and forest with numerous trails. It's a kids paradise which brings out the inner child in all of us! Whether it's hunting for tracks, watching the native wildlife and birds, or taking in the majesty of the mountains surrounding us, both young and old can experience why Montana is known as the Treasure State.
Our on-site concierge service will ensure that you spend your time enjoying yourself, not making reservations. With long-standing ties to the local community, we can coordinate private trail rides, rafting trips, fly-fishing lessons and tours to meet your specific needs. We can arrange for pre-arrival grocery delivery and can make the necessary arrangements for catering, if desired. On-site massages can be arranged as well as reservations at local spa facilities.
