The livin’ is easy and the fun never stops at Golden Star, our beachfront 3-story house in Jacksonville Beach. With 2 separate living areas, it accommodates up to 18 people in comfort with many outdoor spaces, and updated furnishings.
Located near the Mayo Clinic and perfect for 2 families traveling together, a family reunion, or a big group of any kind, Golden Star gives you options for how to arrange your vacation space. The first floor has a separate entrance, a complete kitchen and dining area, and a separate living space as well as 3 bedrooms that sleep 6 comfortably. It connects to the second and third floors through an exterior staircase. You can treat it as a separate unit for privacy, or merge it into the flow of the entire house. The choice is yours, and either way, your group will love it!
Surrounded by wide white beach sand, Golden Star will enchant you before you even step inside. You’ll find plenty of outdoor games and activities waiting for you here, from croquet and a beach volleyball set.
The main living area of the house is on the second floor, so let’s begin our indoor exploration there. Drenched in light and beautifully furnished, the great room invites the group to gather for an evening “in.” Here you can sprawl out on the sofa, switch on the HDTV, and put a movie into the DVD player, the ocean in sight all the while. Cool tiled floors, a bank of long windows, and high ceilings make this room appealing.
Adjacent to the living area is the dining room, with the lanai and its luxury furnishings just a hop away. There’s a breakfast bar in the kitchen area as well, which you can use as a kids’ table or keep as a buffet counter.
The second-floor kitchen is a pleasure to use, offering the full measure of cookware, dishes, and glasses, plus appliances and utensils. A small table at one end is ideal for popping open the laptop (you have free WiFi at Golden Star) to check your social media. Whether you’re cooking this vacation or simply fixing drinks and snacks, you’ll find the kitchen well appointed.
There are 3 bedrooms on this floor as well a sofa sleeper and big windows facing the ocean. Sunny and light, it promises a great night’s sleep every time.
Stairs lead from the 3rd floor loft and master bedroom which include a stunning 3rd floor ocean front balcony. There is also a bonus 3rd floor loft that can serve as a bedroom. This large room contains a sofa sleeper bed. The loft is the kid-pleaser at Golden Star!
On your way down to the first floor, linger on the 2nd floor outdoor deck. This beautiful area captures the sunshine, breeze, and sound of the ocean just yards away, with lovely views of the sea.
The first floor is a more compact version of the upstairs, right down to kitchen, dining room table, and breakfast bar! The main bedroom is a suite, with a king-sized bed; the other two rooms offer a queen bed and 2 single beds, respectively. Perfect for anyone whose sleeping schedule is different from the rest of the group’s, the first floor is charming and convenient!
Golden Star is just yards from the Jacksonville Beach and Pier. Brimming with things to do and places to be, our house is a perfect vacation just waiting to happen. Note: The 2nd floor fireplace is decorative and non-working.

We rented this property over Labor Day weekend for a reunion of our friends. It worked out very well because of the number of rooms, beds and living space. The property had not been used in a while, but the property manager came right over as soon as we<br/> got there to fix a problem with the water. We loved the location and amenities and would recommend it for large groups. Its not a five star resort, but suits its purpose very well!

An interesting structure in disrepair
I booked the Octagon House on the strength of its appearance in photos, location, and price point. On arrival, we were perplexed to find the majority of light bulbs out, two blown circuits, nonfunctioning air conditioning during a heatwave, a nonfunctioning box fan, and strongly sulfurous tap water as if the property had been shuttered for months. While the property manager was responsive in replacing the bulbs and performing other repairs, our overall impression was that this property needs to reinvent itself before it can compete in this market. Setting aside the maintenance issues we encountered, the furnishings at Octagon House demonstrate a lack of consideration for guest comfort bordering on contempt. The house is brimming with beds, but all of them give every apperance of junkyard acquisitions. The enormous master bed suite ultimately amounts to a dirt-cheap, well-worn futon mattress laying on plywood. My back finally went out after our third night on it. Filthy bedspreads and a roach problem only added insult to injury. Faucets and showers also required deep cleaning after a long life of serving up poorly treated well water. We encourage the owner to either seek guidance on furnishing upgrades or sell this property to someone who might at least make it habitable.

There were not enough linens for showers for all that the house accommodates. The sheets were clean but there were no blankets and the bed spreads were all dirty and stained. There is a mold problem in the basement that caused our son's breathing to have problems. The bathroom walls are dirty. The leather couches are filthy. The deck is splintering. The clothing washer has such low water pressure that it doesn't get the laundry clean. This place was a BIG disappointment. We needed to leave early for our son's unexpected surgery, and the rental company was not willing to refund us in such an emergency.

There is also a minor league baseball team and a professional football team and stadium.
