This is my 3rd year coming to Swain to reunite with my friends and family, introduce the kids to skiing, and enjoy a long weekend. I've stayed at a few places around the area and found this place to be truly amazing! I will definitely be considering future visits to the same place, and possibly even during the off-season. Thanks Dave!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This was a wonderful property for a family reunion. Very spacious and loaded with things to do for all ages. The property was only 20 minutes from the ski slopes and easy to get to. Owner was very pleasant to deal with and we didn't have any problems and/or complains. Hope to come back again in the summer!Owner response: Swain Ski resort is less than 10 miles away from my home.

Very family friendly just wished the water was a little closer so that we didn't have to use the ATV everytime we wanted to take the kiddos there. Dave was a great host! We would rent again anytime.Owner response: Yes the pond is up the hill a safe distance from the house so you don't have to worry about the children wandering away and getting into potential trouble in the water. I see it as a safety feature.

My extended family and I spent 10 days here earlier this month when we were all in the area for a family wedding. With the wedding being held in Dansville and the reception in Hornell, the location midway between the two towns was perfect. But best of all, as described on HomeAway, the house was spacious and well appointed, even for our group of 7 adults, and 3 young adults; no one felt like they were on top of one another and even more surprising everyone had a very nice, clean "real" room - not the usual sofa surfing that sometimes is necessary when we all get together. The three full bathrooms were also a godsend for a large group like ours, as was the washer and dryer. We always do a lot of cooking when we get together so it was great to find a kitchen that had every tool we needed, a large fridge and a large table. We even put the second kitchen in the guesthouse to work on one occasion. Having the bbq available to us was also great since the weather was perfect for grilling - Wilson's Meats is really handy and worth the stop - and eating outside on the picnic tables. My favorite thing, though, was getting up in the morning early, grabbing a cup of coffee and sitting on the large porch watching the sun come up and listening to more birds than I've heard in a very long time. By the end of our stay, we were all finding that to be a great way to begin the day. The location away from the bustle of traffic and other houses was really relaxing. We didn't have as much time to do a lot of exploring but we did find that we were able to take a day trip to Corning to the museum there and as well as easily dropping off folks who had to leave early at the Rochester airport. One contingent even found it possible to make the round trip to Cooperstown and the museum there in a day. As the title of my review indicates, I would come back for another stay in a heartbeat. And I know that I have lots of family members who feel exactly the same way.... Thanks, David, for the opportunity to experience the beauty of the area from such a comfortable base!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

My family had a reunion at Slader Creek and it was wonderful. The home was clean, spacious and very beautiful. It is such a beautiful part of New York, and we all enjoyed being outdoors, running around, hiking and exploring the property. The swingset and kid toys were a big hit. The pond was well cared for and the kids had a blast catching frogs, little turtles and salamanders, and wading around in the water. The guest house was great for more space to store food and a bit more privacy for those of us with little kids going to bed and waking earlier than the rest of the group. Lots of beds and bedding and very comfortable. The owner was great to work with and we may go back in the future if we can get everyone together again. It was just great!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

We rented out this site for our group of friends: four families including eleven small children. The setup was perfect! Everything was very kid friendly, including gates, pack n plays, and a toddler bed. The adults got to enjoy campfires and the expansive property, including the small pond with a canoe. Everything was neat, orderly, and clean. We would love to come back!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Our party of three large families (6 parents+11 kids) found the house excellent for our purposes. The large grass areas, the swing set, the pond with its canoe, allowed for lots of activities for the kids. And when our kids have a good time, so do we. The property is in excellent condition, clean and functional. The beds are very comfortable, the kitchen is spacious and the living areas are pleasant. David, the owner, was forthcoming and helpful when needed. I would certainly recommend this property to my friends.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We came with some friends and family to celebrate New Year's Eve and to ski. This place was very spacious, clean and child friendly. The children enjoyed tobogganing in the back and we appreciate the fact that there were many toboggans to accommodate the children. David was friendly and easy going. We had a fabulous time and will definitely come back for another ski trip. Despite the little snow we were able to go skiing a few days. There were only 4 runs open but the kids loved it and there were no line ups for the chair lifts which the adults appreciated. We would love to come back when all the hills are open. We recommend this place to anyone who would like a home away from home! Poradzisz familyDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

Just returned from a Thanksgiving ( Canadian ) family reunion at slader creek, I must say It was the best! The house was large enough to accomodate our family and the property was fantastic, the children had fun scouting the 200+ acres and picking apples and rowing the boats/fishing at the pond, we all enjoyed a couple of hikes around the property. The house was clean and functional and well stocked with linnen and towels, pots and pans ect. Slader Creek appealed to the little children, teenagers, adults as well as the seniors in our family. The owner David was pleasant to dealwith and I would definately go back again Brian Burlington OntarioDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My family and I were looking to get away from it all - and this place is great! The views are awesome. House is VERY clean. Modern kitchen. LOTS of space to stretch out. We took hikes every day on a different part of the property. Cell phone reception is a little limited, but, frankly, that made it better! Definitely glad we rented the ATV. Large outdoor gas grill on site. Pond was great for swimming.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, families with young children, pet owners, age 55+.
Owner response: Most cell phone providers have no issues but we did install a hard line phone for renters use. Free unlimited usage provided for in the continental USA.
