This updated, 1920's full log cabin is surrounded by natural beauty and the retreat is situated overlooking Lake Superior with lake access to "sunning rocks." A stream babbles beside the sleeping porch.
Perfect for winter skiing or summer vacations. The cabin's logs have been lovingly maintained by the owners for over five generations. There is a full kitchen, large stone wood burning fireplace, and a 3/4 bathroom. The windows in the living room are huge with a beautiful view of the water.
The four burner gas stove also burns wood over two extra burners for an authentic cabin experience.
One bedroom has a bunk bed plus a full bed and the master bedroom has a queen bed. There is a twin daybed and a queen sofa bed on the enclosed sleeping porch - weather permitting (late spring through summer and early fall). The queen sofa bed is brought into the living room during the winter months and the sleeping porch is closed off.

Grand Marais is 18 miles further down the highway providing water activities and where a number of artists spend creative hours. The gunflint trail starts in that town and the boundary water canoe trips are legendary.

We just got back from Pine Knot and absolutely loved it. It was perfect for two couples, though also could accomodate a larger group. The cabin is more spacious then it appears in pictures. Both bedrooms are large, as is the kitchen, living room and porch. Kitchen had everything we needed to cook dinner and breakfast. Lots to do in the area - the guys golfed at Superior National in Lutsen and the gals hiked the Superior Hiking Trail. Thank you for making your family cabin available on VRBO!

There was plenty of room for our family of five. The sleeping porch was really nice and the living room was big. The beds had nice sheets and the mattresses were firm and comfortable. The house was not as nice as the pictures made it look. It was okay though, and it was fairly clean. The floors were slanted, but I guess that's because it was old! The thing that bothered me most is that the oven did not work. We got it to light a few times but most of the time it wouldn't light. That was disappointing because I had something all mixed up to go in the oven and couldn't make it. A new oven and stove is needed. The kitchen was very well equipped. There was a charcoal grill available and a nice fire pit area. We had fires two nights and enjoyed that. The flies were really bad the week we were there, so we couldn't sit outside by the lake. We enjoyed the location and enjoyed doing some hiking in the area. We went to Grand Portage and Grand Marais from the cabin and those trips were nice.
