'Marsh Mellow' is a recently renovated condominium at the Turn of River complex. In 2011 the unit had many rooms updated with new flooring and fixtures and appliances, plus a built in dining area and entertainment center. For 2013 the unit got some fresh paint and an updated screened in porch. In early April the entire HVAC system was upgraded. The new unit is one of the quietest on the market - about as loud as a dishwasher. This is a critical feature for anyone staying at Turn of River, as the design of the complex puts the compressor units literally right outside your front door. The new unit is designed to help you 'Mellow' out while here. With 3 queen sized beds and 3 full bathrooms - 2 of which are en-suite - Marsh Mellow is perfect for 3 couples to escape and enjoy Folly Beach as well as the greater Charleston area. Downtown Folly is about a 10 minute walk from the building, and the beach another 5 minutes. For those of you flying into the area, Charleston International Airport is only 20 miles away, allowing quick and easy access to the condo.
In addition for room for 6, each bedroom has a TV with cable including HBO. The main living room has a 50' HD plasma with a blu-ray player and stereo system, along with a selection of blu-ray movies to enjoy. The stereo has an aux cable waiting for your iPod or MP3 player. There are also books, magazines and games for those rare rainy lazy days indoors. Wireless internet and local phone are also included.
The condo sits on the coastal Folly River. This river leads right to the ocean and you can often see dolphins swimming by. Enjoy the views from the large screened in porch or balcony. You can easily walk across the bridge and be in downtown Folly taking in all of the shops and restaurants. Even the beach is an easy walk. Imagine waking up and taking a stroll down to watch the sunrise each morning. Sunsets over the river can be enjoyed from the porch and balcony. Turn of River is on a basin that empties and fills with the changing tides. Sit in the living room and look out the window at full tide and you will feel like you are in a house boat, floating on the ocean marsh river.
Folly itself offers kitschy shops and fun restaurants, all in a few compact blocks next to the beautiful pier and ocean. Take a kayaking tour. Or try a paddle boat adventure! Head to Washout to see the local surfers try to master the waves. Or take the long walk through the dunes to see the Morris Lighthouse. What sets Folly apart from many ocean escapes is the simple homey feel you get from the community. You won't find high rise buildings lining the ocean. Most of the beach front is made up of homes set far back from the shore. It's what a beach was meant to be.
If you need more excitement, Charleston is only 9 miles away where you can easily enjoy everything this vibrant and cosmopolitan city has to offer. Or take a ride over to West Ashley for a more suburban shopping, dining, and theater experience. When you stay at Folly, you aren't limited to just the beach.
The exterior of Turn of River was renovated in 2011 with all new siding, decking, and lighting. Along with the updated interior, Marsh Mellow is a fresh escape for you and your loved ones. One of the key renovations to this unit, which you won't find in many others in this complex, is the kitchen/dining wall was knocked out, and the living room expanded, making for a giant open space for entertaining. You won't miss any action on the big screen TV while cooking up a great meal for everyone. It's a one of a kind condo in a great location.
FYI - In 2013 the two bridges that lead into Folly Beach are being replaced. Construction on the bridge just outside of Turn of River will be going on for all of 2013. So you can expect some construction noise and traffic. The good news is you can walk to town, so you shouldn't get caught up in the traffic back up created by the construction.

We stayed at "Marsh Mellow" for an extended weekend with another couple and had a truly wonderful time! The condo has been renovated and the upgrades, such as an open concept between the kitchen and living room, do not disappoint! If you are looking for a quiet, laid back vacation that's perfectly located just across the bridge from Folly Beach then I would highly recommend staying at this property! Great service overall and the owner has done a fantastic job to make this property stand out as one of a kind!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We stayed at this condo for the weekend of the Cooper River Bridge Run with another couple. It was fantastic! The interior had a very modern feel with the upgrades and the furniture. The beds were very comfortable, and each bedroom had its own bathroom. There was a great balcony overlooking the water with an open area as well as a screened in area. It was apparent that this place has been extremely well taken care of as it was very clean. Downtown Folly and the beach were less than a mile away which was a very walkable distance and highly preferable to driving and trying to find a place to park across the bridge. The condo itself was also about 8 miles away from the center of Charleston so it was easy getting to and from the city. When we return to the Folly/Charleston area, this will be our first choice of places to stay. Highly recommended!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

Went to "Marsh Mellow" with my husband & 2 teens for a long weekend in Feb. This is a BEAUTIFUL condo! Looks all recently redecorated and has anything you could possibly need. There is plenty of space & the furniture is clean & comfy. The big TV in the living room, and available movies & games were a plus for the kids on the one rainy evening. We appreciated the large master bedroom/bath. Our favorite times were either when sitting on the back porch watching the sunset, or walking into Folly. There is a wonderful beach and pier there & several excellent restaurants. Only 20 minutes to Charleston if you get tired of the tranquility :) Over the years we have rented many places and this is truly one of the cleanest & prettiest we have ever been in. We will definitely be back this summer so we can enjoy the ocean!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

This past summer my four teenagers and I stayed at the MarshMellow Condo at Turn of River. The accommodations were beautiful. Spacious, new, well stocked and several surprising amenities like high end kitchen, huge TV in living room with surround sound and flat panel TVs in the bedrooms, a wine "exchange program," newly remodled bathrooms and it was decorated very tastefully. It felt more like stating is someone home that a "rental condo." It was great to park the car at the condo and be able to walk anywhere we wished in Folly Beach. We went to the beach each day and enjoyed a different restaurant each afternoon. Charleston was a quick drive and was close enough we even went twice in one day! I would return there in a heartbeat!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Why the Owner Chose Turn of River:
As a kid, I spent summers at the beach. My parents rented a beach house every single year. I grew up spending many summers by the ocean, with both friends and family. When I relocated to SC I wanted to find a great beach like I had back home in New England. I fell in love with Folly the first time I went there. It was so simple. Mom and pop shops and restaurants. It wasn't built up and commercialized.
The condo itself was a diamond in the rough. The prior owner had converted it to a 2 bedroom, giving me the opportunity to put it back to a 3 bedroom with some unique features. The dated bathrooms were the first thing to go! I had to make some compromises, but overall I think it's a very cool space. I have traveled all over the world and wanted to make a space that people would enjoy coming to.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
Location, location, location! Every morning is a walk across the bridge and down to the ocean to watch the sunrise. My favorite haunts are Blu at Tides, Ritas, and Taco Boy. I always try to drive down to the entrance to the path to the Morris Lighthouse, as it is such a remote area. If I need something more fun I go to Basil in Charleston, or go catch a movie in West Ashley. The mix of having the beach with so many other options makes Folly a great escape.
