If you are looking for nostalgia and the feel of a traditional Down East Maine summer home, then 'Arbor House' is perfect for you! We are located just a stone's throw away from a private beach access to Little River Cove on the beautiful Penobscot Bay. Enjoy walking the beach and searching for that special ocean treasure, or take one of our kayaks for a spin and listen to the loons. Within walking distance to the Village of Bayside, a small historic settlement of gingerbread houses right out of a fairytale, where you can swim, fish off the pier, or simply relax in the park with your favorite book. 'Arbor House' is very conveniently located just off Route 1, between the larger towns of Belfast to the north, and the Camden/Rockport/Rockland areas to the south. A variety of fine restaurants, shops, golfing, sailing, hiking & sightseeing are within minutes of this property.

'Arbor House' has the look and feel of traditional Maine summer residence, with all of the conveniences & amenities you would expect in a seven year old home. It is extremely well equipped and very tastefully decorated in a nautical & lighthouse motif. It will comfortably sleep 7 adults and features two full bathrooms. The master suite ('Captain's Quarters') has a queen bed and private bath on the first floor. The second bedroom ('Lighthouse Room') has a full size bed and a twin with rocking chair, small vanity table and two chairs, and the third bedroom ('Coastal Vineyard Room') has two twin beds and a large oversized rocker for reading. A full bathroom is conveniently loacated between the two bedrooms. We also offer a full sized futon in the first floor office ('Necessary Room') that comfortably sleeps two. The office features a rolltop desk & chair w/ printer for mobile business needs.

The first floor plan is very light, open and airy. There are ceiling fans in all rooms. Just open the living room plantation shutters and let the cool ocean breezes lull you away into relaxation. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need to cook with from baking cakes & muffins to steaming your favorite lobster and seafood dishes.

The living room is designed for relaxation, featuring three leather chairs, and has a satelite TV, DVD, satelite stereo and a wonderful gas fireplace for the perfect ending to the day. We have provided a variety of DVD's, CD's, books and family games for you to use when you simply want to stay in.

There are three areas for you to 'escape' to on the outside. The main deck is equipped with a gas BBQ, patio table & umbrella and additional folding chairs, which leads down to cobblestone patio complete with firepit (wood), tiki torches, accent lighting and the famous Adirondack chairs Maine is known for. It is surrounded by wonderful perennial gardens. If a quiet place for reading is more your style, we offer a covered front porch and two rocking chairs or a very intimate tete-a-tete double adirondack settee on a small cobblestone patio in the front by the arbor. The property is very private and bounded by woods on three sides.

If the convenience of shopping, dining, the enjoyment of nature, and close proximity to all that Maine has to offer on the mid coast, coupled with privacy and the need for pure relaxation, then 'Arbor House' is perfect for you.

Whether it be one of the many festivals or variety of arts that Maine has to offer, you will find something for everyone to enjoy during your stay. If small venue plays are your thing...we have it nearby. If you seek a venue for gaming, Hollywood Slots is a short ride to the north. If you desire local arts & crafts, music, or wine & beer tasting, we have some of the finest around...and perhaps one of the most beautiful National Parks you will ever see is a mere hour or so away...no visit to the mid coast of Maine is complete without experiencing this wonderful treasure!

We respectfully ask that guests be a minimum of twelve years old. We are 'small dog' (non-allergenic) pet friendly...a small deposit will be required. Let's discuss your needs...

We do not use an outside property management company or cleaning service. We take great pride in our home and will personally greet you upon arrival to show you around and answer any questions you may have.
All linens and towels are provided.

Kayaks, paddles & life vests are available for use STRICTLY at renter's risk. A liability waiver clause is included in the renter's agreement. Lobster certificate is provided and available for redemption at Young's Lobster Pound in Belfast.

Our family enjoyed staying at the the arbor house last summer. It is a well taken care of newer property and the host was most accomodating to our needs. It is setback off the main road and is in a very quiet area. Restaurants, nice beaches, and hiking are all nearby. We used the provided kayaks that are a short walk from the property.

My wife and I wanted to escape for the holidays and so at the last moment we made plans to get away to the Arbor House. The home itself is beautifully decorated and maintained with EVERYTHING you need to make your stay perfect. The location is ideal for shopping in Camden, exploring your way up to Bar Harbor or just getting to know Northport which Downeast Magazine recently called one of Maine's Coolest small towns. We had a wonderful time staying here and will be going back again! Don't wait and book your reservation NOW!

My husband and I recently visited Maine for our 10 year anniversary and were fortunate to stay at the Arbor house. This house was such a sweet romantic spot. The owners were so thoughtful; they had an anniversary cake waiting for us upon our arrival since we had told them this was a trip for our 10 year Anniversary. The house was very clean and well cared for. The owners also provided so many basics like coffee, paper towels, trash bags, toilet paper, etc... It was nice to not have to run out to the store right away. We especially loved the outdoor fire pit. Many nights we would come back to the house and drink wine by the fire. It was so nice and relaxing! We really enjoyed the location of the Arbor House as well. The town of Belfast is so cute. Young’s Lobster pound is a must! Camden and Rockport are pretty towns that are close by. The restaurant Shepard’s Pie in Rockport is phenomenal. Such a great casual hip restaurant. The Halibut was the best meal I had in Maine. We also, were able to go to Bar Harbor in Acadia. It was a pretty drive from Belfast. We hope to return to Maine soon and when we do we will definitely plan to stay at the Arbor House.

I visited the Arbor House with two of my girlfriends over Memorial Day weekend and had a fabulous time! This house is perfectly situated to enjoy all the towns surrounding. Just a short drive into Belfast for shopping, dining, and grabbing a morning cup of coffee. You can easily drive to Arcadia national park for a day of hiking, and then spend another day driving south to all the wineries (I highly recommend the cellar door winery). The Arbor House had all the amenities we needed, but to be honest we didn't spend too much time at home. We especially liked the fire pit on the back patio! The house comfortably slept us three but we could have easily added another three people. If you plan to be out and about on your visit to Maine, I would highly recommend the Arbor House for your stay!

My husband and I spent a week at lovely Arbor house in August. Our hosts warmly welcomed us, showed us around and made sure we had everything we needed. Arbor House is immaculately clean, cozily decorated, and has everything to ensure a wonderful stay. We enjoyed the kayaks, the gas fireplace and the outdoor patio and porches. Just a short walk to the ocean and a quick car trip to Belfast. We had a wonderful time and we HIGHLY recommend it to couples and families looking for a memorable trip to Maine's mid-coast.

We would highly recommend the Arbor House. We rented the Adorable House for a month. Had our kids and grandkids visit us throughout the month. Everyone had a wonderful time. The Arbor House was perfect, so comfortable, warm and all the conveniences of your own home. We could walk to the beach, used the fire pit and loved having our coffee on the front porch in the neat rockers. The Arbor house was located perfectly so we could travel up or down the coast, from moose hunting to lighthouses, boat rides, beach, golf bowling, shopping, outdoor concert, wine tasting, ect. and come back to our home away from home. The owners are wonderful, helpful and made our trip Perfect! We would love to vist again in the future and would request the Arbor House. The experience was Awesome!

The culmination of my family's cross country Portland to Portland trip was a weeks stay at the Arbor House. We picked this house because of the reasonable price and central location, and it exceeded our expectations. We loved the cute decor, relished in cooking our own food in the kitchen after eating on the road for a week and an half, and had enough space for our family of seven and all the instruments we had along with us. The location ended being better than we hoped. We were within a days drive to Acadia one direction and Portland the other, and 5 minutes away from an organic grocery store and other amenities. Our favorite memories include watching the sunrise on Cadillac mountain and hiking Beehive mountain in Acadia, windjamming in Camden, touring the music box museum in Wiscasset, sampling all the locally made icecream we came across, and the one day we stayed "home" to kayaked and enjoy a gourmet grilled dinner on the back patio. I hope we get a chance to come back to Maine and stay here again.

My girlfriend and I needed to get away from the fast-paced LA Life for a bit. We both have very stressful careers and were in much need of a little R&R. We remembered that a dear friend of ours had told us about this house for rent in Northport, Maine. We immediately jumped on the reservations and were out of LA for a week! It was one of the best vacations we've ever had! Upon arrival to this great house, we were greeted by friendly neighbors that made us feel right at home (without the traffic & smog!). The house was very clean, cozy and warm. The fireplace in the living room was amazing as we sipped on a glass of wine and enjoyed eachothers' company. We had a wonderful dinner at Young's Lobster Pound in the nearby city of Belfast (5 minute drive). I enjoyed a 3lb Lobster which was to Die for! Then we went over to Three Tides Bar for a night cap. There we interacted with all the friendly locals. One of which insisted drinks were on them...said it was the "New England Way". Just don't wear a LA Lakers hoodie in New England...LOL! Thanks for the good times Maine! We will definetly be back!

My girlfriends and I chose this home for a reunion weekend due to the close proximity of the hundreds of hiking trails and venues nearby. We were not disappointed...the numerous day hikes in the Camden area, as well as our trip up Cadilac Mtn. in Acadia, provided some of the most spectacular scenery we have ever seen! The sunrises over Penobscot Bay were truly breathtaking. The shops and art galleries in nearby Belfast & Camden are a must-see for those shoppers in your group. Our trip to Cellardoor Winery in Lincolnville was as good as any experience in CA wine county. We met several wonderful people there and had many laughs that lasted all week long. Our accomodations were perfect for those of us who chose to curl up with our favorite book, as this home has several private "quiet areas". I especially loved the stuffed rocker in the Coastal Vineyard Room upstairs. I was able to bury myself reading & relaxing without interfering with the others. The kitchen had everything we needed for our gourmet meal preparation...right down to the wine decanter! The bathrooms are roomy, the linens plentiful, and the beds comfortable. The home was every bit as advertised. Our host did a wonderful job making us feel right at home. We were thrilled (and very appreciative) by the wine and cheese that greeted us upon arrival...VERY NICE TOUCH!! We especially enjoyed our girl talk, around the firepit in the morning, over coffee...something we all say that we miss! You cannot go wrong with Arbor House...we plan to make this our annual "girl's getaway" destination

                      Owner info

                      Year Purchased: 2004

About the owner: I purchased 'Arbor House' brand new in 2004 while living and operating a business in California. Having grown up and spending over thirty years in New England, I have always had a passion for the coast. This area brought back so many fond memories of trips to Maine when I was young, I could not resist settling here. The people are friendly and very genuine. The day I was to close on the house, a young local woman was dining with her daughter at the next table over, and unbeknownst to me (after she had left), had paid for my lunch. She signed the back of the guest receipt with the words...'welcome to Maine'. With a lump in my throat, I knew I was 'home'. That is the Maine way!

                      Why the Owner Chose Northport:
The Mid-coast of Maine offers a very diverse variety of culture and activities to enjoy. The rich traditions found in a smaller historic coastal community coupled with the conveniences found a short distance away in the somewhat larger towns and cities was the perfect combination for me.

The Unique Benefits at this House:
Peace & quiet, tranquility, raw beauty not seen anywhere else in the US...sipping coffee and wine by the firepit, watching the sunrise over the Bay, and knowing that you are located in an area that will provide you one of the most memorable vacations during your lifetime.
