The house was wonderful. Our family totally enjoyed our experience. My only suggestion Is to upgrade beds in two bedrooms on second floor(the master bedroom bed was great) Thank you again for sharing your home.

Owner response: Thanks Barbara, I have taken the bed from the front bedroom out and replaced it with a new queen. Next year I intend on doing the same for the back bedroom. I appreciate your kind words and suggestions. Hope to see you again next year. Russ
Wonderful Week at Cavanaugh Bay
Wonderful Week at Cavanaugh Bay
Our family had a fantastic time at the Alway's lakefront home. It was everything claimed to be and would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a clean, spacious place to stay while visiting this exquisite lake. Views of the lake from the large windows upstairs and down were amazing. The large deck was a great place to hang after barbequing some dinner and watch the sunset. Our three kids spent most of the their time swimming off the dock when they weren't tubing in the bay. Cavanaugh's is always a treat as we boated over there a couple times. Thank you Russ and Patty for sharing your wonderful space with us and we look forward to coming back again !! and again...

Owner response: Arik, We were so happy to hear that your time at the cabin was so enjoyable. Nothing is more important to Patty and I than knowing that those who share our cabin appreciate it as much as we do. Thanks so much. We hope to see you again in 2014. Yours, Russ and Patty
We traveled to Priest Lake from the mountains of Colorado with our 5 children ages 10-23. It is sometimes difficult to find a place which appeals to the various ages and interests of our large family. The Alway's cabin on Priest Lake was the perfect destination. There was plenty of personal space for everyone in the four bedrooms and the roomy living area was great for congregating in the evenings. I could spend hours gazing out the floor to ceiling windows at the gorgeous view. The best part, though, was the chance to spend many hours outdoors in this "jewel" of a place. The hiking and exploring possibilities were endless. The beautiful Priest Lake Golf Course was 20 minutes away, watching the sunset from the deck at Cavanaugh's was spectacular and dinner at Hill's Resort was a special treat at the end of our stay. Unlike Colorado, the water in Priest Lake was warm and pleasant. We swam off the dock and enjoyed roasting s'mores in the fire pit on the beach until late in the evening. One caution: good knees for stair climbing are a must. All in all, I would definitely recommend this cabin.

Owner response: Patty and myself love our cabin, the lake, and the numerous outdoor activities in the Priest Lake area. Nothing could be more rewarding than hearing that wonderful families like this have experienced the joy that we share with our own children while playing together at the lake.
Cavanaugh Bay Memories
Cavanaugh Bay Memories
Our family has spent 20+ years vacationing at Cavanaugh Bay on Priest Lake, Idaho. Unfortunately our favorite place to stay has become too small with our growing family. How lucky were we to find this wonderful bayside home. The pictures do not do justice to this immaculate, tastefully decorated home. The kitchen was well stocked with top of the line cookware and utensils. The refrigerator was large and the ice trays full All the needs for large group were here, with lots of room to dine inside with it's a large dining table and bar or outside on the large deck with it's own large umbrella table and chairs and stainless steel BBQ. The four bedrooms were roomy and tastefully decorated, two with outstanding views of the lake though floor to ceiling windows. The master bedroom was large with a ceiling fan and a well appointed master bath. Up stairs included a washer and dryer, and we found a well stocked video library as well as many games and books. The dock area was roomy with plenty of chairs and loungers to enjoy the sun and views or to swim in the crystal clear waters of the lake. This home also had a large beach area and fire pit to enjoy and spread out as well. Through out the years our family has enjoyed many trips up to Hunt Lake or just laying out on the dock, enjoy the sun, watching the small planes come in for an approach to land at the near by Cavanaugh Bay landing strip. One year our kids were able to watch helicopters hover over the bay, lowering big buckets for water to spread over fires that were in the nearby mountain areas. We were never in any danger but it was pretty exciting for the kids to watch. The owner was very helpful when we had questions or concerns before our stay as well as during. This is a wonderful, magical place and I would not hesitate to recommend this home to any of our friends or relatives. It is a good choice for a multi generational family get together. We have already made our plans to stay again next year.

Excellent quiet getaway
Excellent quiet getaway
If you are looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life, then you will want to book a stay at the Priest Lake Waterfront Retreat at Cavanaugh Bay. We took our 4 children there for a week in April of 2012 and thoroughly enjoyed our getaway. Upon arrival we found the home to be immaculately clean and comfortable. The rooms were beautifully and tastefully decorated and well equipped with all of the amenities to make one's stay more than enjoyable. There was a washer and dryer, plenty of t.v's, movies, books, exercise equipment, gaming systems, towels, bedding, games, and a cozy wood burning stove. The kitchen was completely furnished with top of the line dishes, cookware, utensils, and a full size refrigerator. The large wrap-around wooden deck out front was comfortable, and the view from both the deck outside, as well as the majority of the rooms in the house was spectacular! All we had to do was bring our clothing and food. How convenient. The area surrounding the cabin was as impressive as the house. We found ourselves taking daily hikes up mountains, past waterfalls, down picturesque winding roads, and through the forests. We never repeated our steps as there was so much there to see and explore. The view of Priest Lake from the hilltops were breathtaking and well worth the gentle climb. As we were there during the early spring, we thoroughly enjoyed several light snowfalls followed by bursts of sunshine. We saw deer and moose grazing in the fields. Although the lake was too cold to swim in, we enjoyed taking the short path down to the beach to sit by the waters edge, play in the sand, and skip rocks. Staying at this retreat exceeded our expectations as we were able to enjoy nature, spend time together as a family, escape the noise of the world, and renew our souls in a first class environment. Should you choose to book a stay here, you will be treating yourselves to a deluxe getaway. We can't wait to go back.

Amazing Private Lakehouse Paradise
Amazing Private Lakehouse Paradise
This is absolutely our favorite getaway location!! I stayed here with my husband and his family this past August and we had an absolutely amazing trip. We fell in love with the cabin (really more of a house), which sits slightly up the hill from the lake in the woods - it felt like a treehouse! The floor to ceiling windows let in gorgeous light and provide amazing views of the private beach and lake. The lake itself is extremely clean and isn't too crowded or loud. There is a fire pit on the beach perfect for watching the sunset and roasting marshmallows. The dock is big enough for the whole family to sunbathe, swim and boat from all day long. An additional deck is located up near the cabin but is fenced in for privacy from the road, and it was the perfect place for us to BBQ dinner each evening and eat outside while enjoying views of the lake. We also spent a fair amount of time inside the house, which is very homey with large comfy couches and chairs in the living room (great for movie watching!) and a large table perfect for game nights. The kitchen was stocked with everything we could need to prepare meals and there were many different options for sleeping arrangements including a gorgeously remodeled master suite upstairs with breathtaking views... we just loved waking up to the lakeside sunrise. You can really make yourself at home here for long periods of time. The cabin is full of books and movies and even has an exercise room with a treadmill and television. Of course this is in addition to the incredible outdoor activities. One day we hiked up to Slippery Rock, which was one of our favorite adventures, as well as walking down the road one evening to Cavanaugh Bay to enjoy dinner, drinks and live music. We also enjoyed a chartered fishing trip! Staying here is a fantastic getaway from the hustle and bustle of day-to-day life, and we left feeling relaxed, refreshed, and thinking about the next time we could book a stay here. Thank you!

Year Purchased: 2010
About the owner: My wife and I have been vacationing at Priest Lake for nearly 15 years. For several year's we rented a cabin at Hill's Resort and enjoyed it, but really wanted to have more space and privacy, so a few years ago we began to rent homes on the lake. As we got to know more about the lake we fell in love with Cavanaugh Bay. When our cabin became available to purchase in 2010 we jumped on it and will never look back. Since it is impossible for us to be here all summer, however, we want to share our beautiful cabin with others. We are confident theat you will enjoy the comfort and beauty of our lakeside retreat as much as we do.
Why the Owner Chose Cavanaugh Bay:
Priest Lake is rightfully known as Idaho's Crown Jewel. The water is crystal clear and the lake is enormous, so there are lots of places to go and coves and islands to explore. The fishing is good, the boating is outstanding and the skiing and boarding is awesome. Cavanaugh Bay is a special place. The waters here are the quietest on the lake. Our neighbors are fantastic and the majority of them do not rent so we want to make sure that our renters respect them and the 11 pm rule. For the most part you can hear a pin drop after 11pm. You can sit outside and be amazed at the night sky full of zillions of bright stars, listen to the swish of the water on the beach, the hooting of the owls and the beating of each others hearts as you snuggle under the moonlight. You can't beat it!
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
We love this cabin because it gives us the ideal spot to relax, soak up the sun, swim, and totally forget the workaday world. We are avid hikers and their are hundreds of nearby trails surrounding the lake. These include many with little or slight elevation gains and some that are strenuous and challenging. If you like waterfalls and photography like we do, this is a heavenly place to be. In the winter there are hundreds of miles of snowshoeing, snowmobile and cross country skiing trails which offer incredible views of mountains and lakes. When we want to get out we have only a ten minute walk to Cavanaugh Bay Resort or a fifteen minute boat ride to several other resorts who also have fine dining and live entertainment in the summer months.
