Enjoy all the luxuries of a private home along with many of the amenities you desire. With its bright, open floor plan featuring lots of windows and glass doors, you're bound to enjoy the Palm Springs vacation experience the way it was meant to be. The over-sized lot features an expansive backyard with a classic rectangular pool ideal for lap-swimming, if not lounging. A brand-new adjacent in-ground spa just steps from the pool, is thoughtfully positioned to take in the commanding views of the nearby San Jacinto Mountain range. A gas-powered in-ground fire pit in the pool and spa area offers cozy comfort and warmth during those chilly desert nights under the stars. Furnishings comprise a creative combination of contemporary and classic 'retro' pieces that complement and pay tribute to the Mid Century Modern movement. A plus for purists!
Built in 1959, this vestige of the rise of Palm Springs' Mid Century Modern architectural boom has emerged from a remarkable renovation. The year 2011 marked the year of its metamorphosis, offering all the comforts and conveniences of the 21st century, while preserving the integrity of its celebrated classic design.
The iconic butterfly roof line continues to be the most popular of Palm Springs' designs, expressing the optimism and progress of the late 50s and early 60s design movement in America.
This exquisitely appointed Alexander Butterfly home includes: Three spacious and professionally decorated bedrooms with clerestory windows for plenty of natural light and views. / Two artfully designed ultra modern bathrooms with beautifully tiled showers and floors, and skylights above / Sleek and modern yet practical, a fully equipped kitchen with Caesar-stone counter-tops and breakfast bar is part of the great room and opens directly into the backyard for lounging and casual entertaining. A gas-fired barbecue sits outside, just beyond the kitchen's sliding glass doors. / Stay super connected (only if you want to!) with a completely wireless network throughout. TVs in the master bedroom and living room feature ROKU connections to allow for streaming Netflix movies (included!) and to browse an endless number of streaming channels, or to just lean back and listen to your favorite music service, such as Pandora, MOG, and more (see the entire channel lineup here). / A large 30'x15' pool ideal for lap-swimming and room for plenty of guests to just float or splash around. Heating optional. / A brand-new bubbling spa at the east end of the yard ensures a panoramic view of the majestic San Jacintos while melting your stresses away. / A hot-and-cold outdoor shower makes it easy to rinse before and after a dip in the pool or spa. / Covered carport parking for two cars, plus driveway for two more, and off-street parking provides space for up to 5 cars.
The Alexander Butterfly vacation home is just a few minutes from downtown, with its abundance of restaurants, bars, shops and other entertainment. Or escape to nature via the famous Tram to the top of the nearby San Jacinto Mountains--just a five-minute drive to the station.
Make the Alexander Butterfly your next Palm Springs vacation landing. We think you'll leave feeling relaxed and refreshed from your very own metamorphosis!

I came here for a weekend getaway with my wife, our two boys, and my parents. This home away from home was amazing, inside and out. It is located far enough from the bar scene of the strip, which makes it private and quiet, but just a minute or two drive from everything. Everything is newly renovated but also brims with classic Palm Springs mid-century modern cool, from the architectural design to the furnishings. The pool was fantastic, the hot tub that is right next to it made it even better, and the lava rock gas fire pit that is next to both of them creates the ultimate relaxation trifecta! And with a great view of the nearby mountain sweetens the deal. The secluded outside shower that gets nice hot water as well as the patch of soft grass to play ball/lay out on are a great touch. We had a great stay, and would definitely return.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing, families with young children, age 55+.

Great house, beautifully renovated, and fully equipped with everything you need. The perfect place for our 5 days of relaxation in Palm Springs, so much better than staying in a hotel, and also very good value for money. Very cool place to stay if you want to get that 60s Palm Springs feeling. Highly recommendable!Owner response: Thanks for your feedback. Staying in the Racquet Club neighborhood really is like time travel - you will experience street after street of restored mid-century homes. This should be an important part of anybody's Palm Springs experience!

We stayed here for Coachella in April and loved this house! Beautiful interior. Kitchen comes stocked with plates, cups, flatware, etc. The backyard is wonderful. There is a nice patch of grass to lay out on, a pool, a jacuzzi, a fire pit, a grill and a shaded area. to lounge in.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with young children, age 55+.

Stayed for an extended long weekend. Property manager was at the property waiting for our arrival. House was beautiful. Air conditioning. Fans in each room. Kitchen fully stocked including basic things like salt, pepper, sugar! 2 bathrooms (and an outdoor shower!) with tons of towels. Backyard was my favorite. Pool was large and roomy. A huge patch of green grass to lay on. Lounge chairs and a covered area for shade. Awesome gas bbq as well. Would certainly and intend to stay there again!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

A group of us rented this house for Coachella and it was great. It was extremely clean and beautiful inside/out. Stylish mid-century furniture, full size modern kitchen and a giant pool in the backyard. The location is perfect - just a short drive to restaurants, shopping and the shuttle stop for the event. The property manager was a pleasure to work with so that made the experience even more enjoyable. This is a very cool pad...highly recommend it!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, age 55+.
Owner response: Thanks for the kind words, renovating the house was a lot of fun we too stay there whenever we have a chance.

I spent a short week at the Alexander Butterfly with my family. The house was recently fully renovated and everything is new, so even though the house is from the 50's - it feels like stepping into a entirely new modern home. The garden is enormous and tastefully laid out with a grassy area, private patio and a huge pergola which became my favorite spot for spending the day. I just loved the outdoor shower, I would run in the morning, then have a shower while enjoying the views of the San Jacinto mountain. My parents (especially my mom) loved the kitchen which looked gorgeous with white counter-tops and a nice space for us to sit with our laptops. Netflix was included so we got to catch up on a bunch of streaming movies - very nice touch. The neighborhood is really interested, almost all houses are restored Alexanders from the early sixties and walking around feels like going back in time. The Palm Springs Tramway is also close and everyone visiting Palm Springs should take a trip up to the top of the mountain - it's worth it! Great place and we will definitely be back.Owner response: Thanks for the kind words. We are glad you had a great time!

I recently stayed at the Alexander Butterfly in Palm Springs. This house is gorgeous. Breathtaking views from the outdoor ramada, pool and spa. The pool and spa is white and the water reminds me of my visits to South Beach with privacy. The outdoor shower in invigorating and allows three people to shower at the same time. Each bedroom is perfectly designed with beautiful window treatments and bedding. Yummy soft sheets. Being on one of the main roads was convenient and surprisingly quiet. We mostly ate out, but the grill was great and the sleek white kitchen was a pleasure to cook in as well. The furnishings are mid-centiury modern classic and understated. I will definitely be returning. This was a five star experience.Owner response: We are glad you had a great stay at the Butterfly. We spent a lot of time getting the pool and spa right when we rebuilt it last year and ourselves love the view of the mountains.
