Arrived the weekend of the American Music Festival it by far is the best time of the year for us. I love the North End, water all around you. The picture on this web site does not show you the true condition of this unit. You cannot see all the dirt and grime. The vents in the air condition units had not been changed in months. My husband cleaned them. The first day we arrived. Mold all over the bathroom tub, floors and surrounds, dust and grim every wear. I did complain to the hotel staff and I was told the owner did not us Dolphin Run employees to clean that unite. I know the owner was contacted and did not care to talk to me, I even sent photo of the dirt and grime… did I say dirt and grime…. If you have any mold or dust allergy I would stay away from this rental or unite. I wanted to came back to Virginia Beach next year and I love the North End so, I look at a couple of rental in Dolphin Run same price range. The other unites in Dolphin Run put this unites to shame in cleanness and decor. .

Overall we really enjoyed our stay at the Dolphin Run. This was our first trip to Virginia Beach and we loved it. Dolphin sightings every morning from the balcony plus amazing sunrises over coffee...couldn't be beat! The unit was very spacious, and was perfect for our needs. We are a family of 4 with two teenagers; a boy and girl, and Grandma was with us too, so two queen beds in each room worked out well for us. The bedrooms were each the size of a hotel room - excellent use of space. The beds were also very comfortable, and linens were provided - beds made too - which was much appreciated after arriving very tired from a 14-hour drive. The LR/DR was not that big, but furniture was very comfy and the views were enough to make up for it. The kitchen was small but clean and had everything you could think of. The only disappointment was that the bathrooms needed updating. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the location was great. Easy walking to shops and restaurants, and the shuttle running along Atlantic Ave. was a great way to get around, because parking was at a premium in the shopping district. Overall great experience - would definitely return. However....we would highly suggest checking the events calendar before booking. This condo is near the end of the boardwalk and events were set up right outside our door at the "5th Street Stage". The East Coast Surfing Championship was on the weekend we arrived, and the American Music Festival was on our last weekend. Great energy and fun during the events, and music was off by 11pm, but the set-up and take-down of the stages was not fun to watch - literally it took 2 days to take down the first stage, then 2 days to set up the second one. There were trucks everywhere backing up and unloading scaffolding and equipment, then crews setting up, morning til night on 4 of our 7 days there. Being in a work-zone is not what you want on vacation. Unfortunate for the condo owners as they have no contol over this. But if you can pick a 'quiet' week - it's fantastic!!

I wanted to write a review for this property because I looked at many before booking, and I was a little leary just because the listing could've been more descriptive, and I think the owner would benefit from having more photos on the site. The unit itself is very nice. Both bedrooms are a good size, as are the two beds in each room, and they are both decorated nice. One bedroom has its own bath. Both bedrooms are oceanfront so it's great to be able to open the windows and hear the waves at night. The living/dining area isn't very big but has a bigger table, and the couch and chair almost look like a sectional and are very comfortable. I would have preferred a beach decor in that room but that's my own personal preference. The oceanfront balcony off of the living/dining room isn't the biggest balcony but you can fit three people comfortably, and the view is fantastic. The kitchen is small but has everything you need and looks fairly new. Having linens provided was a plus. The building itself is undergoing remodeling, and it needs it, but I'm sure will be very nice. The staff is friendly. The only bad things I can say about this place are first, there is a door to the hallway in the one bedroom, and you can hear absolutely everything, even if they aren't being noisy in the hall. The other bad thing is that there is no swimming allowed in front of this building from Memorial Day through Labor Day; it is a surfing area only. It looks like there may be swimming allowed a couple buildings up, so it's not too far to walk. I did enjoy watching the surfers. The unit itself could use a fresh coat of paint, but it's not bad. All in all, you can't beat the price and the view in Virginia Beach, and I do recommend staying here.
