6th Street! Yes! Walk Everywhere from Clean, Bright Condo
- Minimum stay:2-4 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
You will love staying here! My immaculate, bright condo is right on world famous 'Austin's 6th Street,' a top destination for live music. My place is very slightly removed from the clubs and bars, so you can easily retreat to a peaceful, charming spot when you prefer some quiet time. I always walk home from a night out- it's about a mile. You walk from the live music scene to my stretch which is restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, spas, and artisan galleries. If you run , bike, or even stroll you will enjoy town lake- slow walkers will be there in 20 minutes. Rent a canoe or kayak while there- fun!
Our city slogan 'Keep Austin Weird'means we are not about big franchises. We love our independent restaurants, eclectic shops, and artisan centers. Walk to many of them from this 6th Street location.
Keywords: Charming Clarksville. Walk downtown, to parks, town lake and more.

Poor Communication from Owner. Condo Dirty.
Poor Communication from Owner. Condo Dirty.

My biggest complaint with this Condo was the lack of communication from the owner. I had to e-mail the owner to get our arrival info, to which she did not respond, so after 36 hrs, I called and left a message. Once we arrived at the Condo, the first thing that we did not like was that the fridge was still full of perishable food. This included rotten salad, half drank slushy, and a half-drank bottle of wine. We also found that the microwave was dirty inside, and that between the counter and the stove was full of old food. Our next unpleasant discovery was that the shower curtain is a mildew farm. There were several very large black stains on the curtain. It is hard to feel clean when you are surrounded by mold. There was also no garbage can in the bathroom, which to me, seems like a requirement for a bathroom, not a want. The last real complaint was that the information that was sent to us was not accurate. We were told that there was a key hanging on the fridge to access the pool. There was not. Another sheet of paper on the coffee table said it was a key-code lock for the pool. Maybe a minor annoyance, but come on. Update your word document before sending it out! To me, this just went with the theme of lack of care for the customer. The HVAC in this unit is also very loud when it is running. Not really anything you can do about that, but it should be noted anyway. One other thing to note is the poor quality of the bed. While I was not promised a fantastic bed, I expected something just a bit better. This frame sags badly in the middle. Myself and my fiancée are combined weight of about 330lbs so we did not put any additional stress on the bed. The foot stool stuffed under the bed failed to support the frame either. A lame attempt at a fix. Perhaps I would have been able to give this place a better review had Terri taken the time to respond to my concerns. She still has not, and that was over 5 days ago now. I do not expect a response now. Location was good, and the parking was good. Just don't expect proper communication from the owner. The customer does not come first in this relationship.Recommended for: Adventure seekers.

The condo was clean, comfortable and well kept. If you are in town to sightsee or hit the downtown scene this is the perfect spot. Walking distance to everything you need, and an excellent starting point if you have a vehicle! We really enjoyed our time : )Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, tourists without a car.

Loved the condo...especially after having to stay at a Super 8 for 2 nights. We could not figure out how to use the TV set, but, that was alright since we were always out. The air did go on pretty loud in the middle of the night waking us up and stayed on for a while giving out noise. Otherwise, the bed was super comfy and the place is very cute. Nice big towels for after the shower, and a blow dryer! I wish it had some windows we could have kept open, but, the only way to get air in was opening the door. It is a nice sunny condo with a pullout sofa that is also very comfortable. I would go back. Terri is extremely informative and cheerful...very easy to deal with. Thanks, Terri !!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, tourists without a car.

Overall, this was a great apartment rental in a great neighborhood. Close enough to walk to neighborhood coffeehouse, grocery, restaurant and smaller bars away from touristy sections. Distanced from the Bourbon Street-esque Sixth Street bar and night life - but if you're into that, it's still walkable or for $1 you can catch the bus. Only surprise: no bottle/wine opener in kitchen. Good news: you're within walking distance to two local wine stores with helpful staff -- not to mention the mothership Whole Foods store. Local bookstore, Book People is also within walking distance. Modern furnishings and two loveseat sleepers in the living room. Sleeper was comfy and neighborhood quiet at night. Owner gracious and offered tips on navigating the neighborhood on foot. Much better than a hotel stay. Felt like a home away from home. I would stay here again and will recommend to friends.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, tourists without a car.

This was a great place to stay while I attended a conference at the Hilton Austin. I enjoyed the 1.5 mile walk in late October. My wife and two youngest (sleeping bags on the floor - a big adventure for them) were able to stay comfortably with me as well. The apartment was clean and relaxing. We would highly recommend it.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, tourists without a car.

Exactly as described - clean / bright and centrally located. The condo was perfect for two and had everything we needed. The pool was a bonus! Only issue encountered was the air conditioner in the bedroom was a bit loud - so we turned it off. Otherwise it was perfectly clean and convenient. Thanks!Did you find this review helpful? While the listing says this condo sleeps 2-4 people, I can't imagine how anymore than 2 people in this cozy abode would be comfortable. I stayed here during SXSW and loved it. The condo is about a mile walk from downtown, and when the weather was nice, this walk was perfectly doable. Terri left lots of guides suggested things to do and places to eat which was useful and she was always available for any questions I had. The weather was terrible during my stay, and she sent me a sweet email about how to turn up the heat which was very thoughtful. Everything about this place was very comfortable; impeccably clean, nice conveniences such as an iron, hairdryer, plenty of towels, and a coffeemaker. It was clearly a vacation rental property (something a lot of my colleagues who also stayed at VRBO properties during SXSW did not experience, rather they were staying simply in people's full-time homes). If I were to visit Austin again, I would definitely stay here. It was a 10-minute walk from the flagship Whole Foods store, which was a trip, and it was also a 5-minute walk to this very cute town center that featured independent stores and cafes. I really liked it!Owner response: Thanks for the kind and thoughtful review. I tried to think of the types of items I like when I am traveling and love suggestions. Regarding the accommodations for 4, the two love seats open to twin size beds which is nice for people traveling with children. We hope to have you back sometime- you left the place so neat.
