Our family stayed at the Glory Manor from December 29, 2012 through January 1, 2013. The location was beautiful and we loved the house. It is very close to Murphys and Moaning Caverns is right across the raod. You have to try out the zip lines there. Everything we needed was provided such as bedding, towels, fully equipped kitchen and TV with DVD player and a good selection of movies. Be sure to bring some apples for Margarets sweet horse. We definitely this location for families and couples alike. We can't wait to return. Valerie.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

Our little family spent wonderful time during Thanksgiving holiday in beatiful Margaret's house. She welcomed us with great cookies, showed us all rooms and made sure that they are warm and cozy. Kitchen had all necessary plates/pots/pans and we cooked delicious Thanksgiving dinner. There are plenty of things to do around. Visit Moaning Cavern, Columbia state historic park, nearby Murphy, many good wineries. Thanks again for great time and your hospitality. We'll be back one day.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

"We celebrated our dear friend, Nancy's 60th birthday - Laughed, lazed about, shopped, shared, played games, enjoyed the weekend and our friendship. Plenty of good food and fellowship among dear female friends is what we love and we are mighty blessed to be a part of our "String of Pearls."Did you find this review helpful? A friend and I decided on a last-minute trip to Murphy's and Calaveras Big Trees State Park. We found this lovely home just in time to book it for a few days between Christmas and New Year. The property is well situated, close to Angel's Camp and Murphy's, and a hop to the state park. Margaret was a welcoming host. Thank you for the cookies waiting for us on our arrival! As nature-seeker, I really appreciated the freedom to roam the property! We had an excellent time exploring the trails to the top of the ridge, overlooking New Melones Reservoir. We enjoyed bird watching from our windows, and the quiet, expansive views were just what I needed. The home itself was clean and the heat turned on for us when we arrived. (The heating is space heaters in various rooms. The heaters worked well such that we turned them down before going to bed. If you go in the winter, bring layers & slippers.) Two rooms have beds which were quite comfortable. The third has a futon. We did not use that room because it was more space than we needed for 2, and it didn't have a space heater. Besides we were usually out during the day, when it warmed up from all of the sunlight that enters through the large picture windows. One night we had a nice evening in front of the fire. There is no telephone, and limited cell reception. They did provide several family DVDs and a TV/player in the living room. The kitchen came with a full sized refrigerator/freezer, working stove/range, microwave and slotted toaster oven. We used and washed the dishes, silverware, coffee maker, and pots/pans that were made available to us. As the name of the property implies, the grounds have Christian theological items throughout the main areas. Bible verses are mounted on trees when one drives in. There was a Christmas Creche lit up at night in a stand of trees on the opposite side of the property from where we were staying. In our house were several angel statues and the like. Our house was on a small circular drive with two other homes. We did see cars from time to time at the other houses, but we never ran into the other visitors during our time there. I would stay here again, easily -- perhaps returning for spring flowers. If we needed to use the third bedroom, we would probably draw straws for who stayed on the futon in what appeared to be an enclosed patio. I would bring an extra space heater, too, if we return during cold season. All in all a lovely stay which I would gladly repeat.Owner response: Thank you for your comments and we are so happy that you enjoyed your stay & the cookies. It was a pleasure to meet you and thank you for your email letting us know that you got "great photos of the flock of turkeys! We got great looks at Flickers and Hermit Thrushes." and that "The hike to the top of the ridge was well worth it." The views are fantastic, especially from the ridge. It is not necessary to bring your own heater as we have extras and are happy to provide the emenities. We have received such wonderful positive comments about the big picture windows and are pleased that you also found them enjoyable and had an opportunity to enjoy a cozy fire in the fire place in the evening. We are so glad you enjoyed your time here and look forward to your return visit. Saturday morning I thought about you and wished I had my camera when I saw 14 Canadian gueese in the meadow down by the lake, over 30 wild turkeys in the meadow and a flock of ducks on the lake. It is a joy to be able to share the beauty of this place with others.

We have stayed here on more than one occasion and will be coming back in the near future. If you need some place to relax this is the tranquil place to come. We took evening walks and saw deer and other wildlife. I spent time down at the lake fishing and reading and it was wonderful. But if your in the mood for something else, there is much to do close to the gardens. We went jet skiing just 10-15 minutes away. The property is beautiful and kept up nicely. Marge is always gracious and informative. See you soon. Mike and SueOwner response: Thank you and I am so glad you had such a great time over the weekend. It was great seeing both of you again. Fall is such a beautiful time of year and the leaves have already started turning beautiful colors. With weather in the mid 70's & 80's there is still time for more fun on the lake, relaxing, hiking and/or site seeing while enjoying the beauty and perfect weather. Looking forward to seeing you soon.
