This lovely and innovative casa is an eco-friendly paradise made from shipping containers. With stunning views of San Juan del Sur and the Pacific Ocean, this spacious (3,500 sqft) home is conveniently located within a five minute walk to the center of town. We are close enough for easy access to all the restaurants, shops, and activities of the charming village of San Juan del Sur, yet a world away on a quiet, breezy hillside among trees and wildlife.
This unique home lives and breathes sustainability, while still providing you with a luxury vacation setting. We designed and built this home using shipping containers, adding in a state-of-the-art radiant barrier to keep all rooms cool and comfortable, even on hot, sunny days. Our solar hot water system keeps the hot water flowing (a rarity in Nicaragua!), while our gray water system keeps the area around the home lush and green. We want to spoil you without spoiling the nature around you!
This home also comes equipped with more bells and whistles than you will find in any other Nicaragua vacation home, including solar-assisted air conditioning, jacuzzi bathtubs, rooftop terrace with hot tub, flat-screen LCD TVs in every bedroom, screened in porch, and a workout/weights area.
We also understand the needs of the traveler, and we therefore provide Wifi throughout the house, pool area, and rooftop, as well as a computer center with printer, scanner, and copier. Each room has a laptop safe for valuables, and we provide 24-hour security, and maid service. We want you to be able to relax and enjoy your vacation without any other care in the world!
The rooftop terrace is the perfect place to do some morning yoga and the 5-person roof top hot tub is a perfect way to wind down your evening. We can arrange private yoga sessions, massages, manicures/pedicures, and help you with organizing Spanish lessons, fishing/boating/surfing excursions, or transportation/tours around Nicaragua.

I love San Juan del Sur. This home is in walking distance to the beach, restaurants, bars and shopping. Taxi cabs are also available for those who do not wish to walk. We had a very nice large room with a bathroom that was en suite. We had access to a modern kitchen with all the appliances we are used to back in the States. The rooftop deck has a hot tub and it was a great place to relax in the evening and do some star gazing. The swimming pool is brand new and is also a great amenity. I will definitely go back and stay with Lee and Rachel. They took really good care of us.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

During our stay at the house we enjoyed the privacy and quiet of the secluded location, away from the noise of buses, firecrackers, church bells, etc that are a constant part of life in San Juan del Sur and yet it is still only a few minutes walk to the centre of town or the beach. Our room was very spacious and comfortable, with a home theater sized plasma screen television facing the bed, a Jacuzzi tub in the bathroom and a screened porch from which we watched howler monkeys in the surrounding tropical forest with our morning coffee. From a solar heated hot tub on the rooftop terrace there is a spectacular view of the bay. Rachel and Lee are gracious and friendly hosts who go out of their way to help you make the most of your stay.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

This container home is like no other home i have ever been in! Everything about this home is top notch, from the living area, to the kitchen to the EXTREMELY comfortable beds you simply can not go wrong here. Lee, the owner of the house is a great guy willing to help and facilitate any of your needs. Both Lee and his wife took tons of time and pride in building the perfect home and it really reflects from the second you start your way up the hill to the time you are relaxing in the hot tub on the roof. The house was in great shape when we stayed there, very clean and well maintained. I would recommend this home to anyone looking for a great stay in SJDSRecommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

I had a chance to stay at this "modern castle" for three days last october. On a hill with magnificent views of San Juan del Sur, with maximum security , confortable, modern fittings and some amazing "gadgets" to make the stay even better. Plasma Sat TV screens, massage chairs, a jacuzzi on the terrace where to relax muscles and spirit at the end of a fun day on the beach,a swimming pool, comfortable beds, bathrooms with nothing to envy to a luxury hotel and total funcionality. What else to add, I woud go back for a much longer stay anytime!!!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

About the owner: After just one visit to Nicaragua, Lee decided to pack up his clothes and computer and head to the tropics to start a new life. Lee spends his time working on eco-friendly projects (he built this container home!), and when he is not working, he is either volunteering with the local library or vet clinic, or simply enjoying the peaceful beach surroundings.

I love the charm of this small town, and I wanted to live close enough to walk to everything, but just far enough to feel like I am in a quiet, secluded space. I found it with this beautiful location on a hill overlooking San Juan del Sur!
