This hip 1920's farmhouse was designed by my grandmother and built using recycled cobblestones from the old railway tracks that once ran down market street. It was the first house built on this hill, with the VIEWS to prove it! Watch the hawks soar over the city from the sunny deck. Open a bottle of Napa Wine and light the Wood Stove in the comfortable Modern Vintage living space . This is San Francisco at it's best. Surrounded by nature peace and quiet, right in the middle of the vibrant, sunny, hip side of the city. Parking in front!
It is a beautiful walk over the crests to the Mission, or Castro Neighborhoods! Public transport close by. Across from the favorite local walking trails Billy Goat Hill, and The Harry Street Stairs. Stop for a latte, and fresh baked sourdough on the way. Safe, Gorgeous, fun Neighborhood!
The house has 3 bedrooms: 2 with Queen Beds (and cozy down comforters), and 1 single bed and crib in the kids bedroom. A 2nd Crib and trundle bed are also available.
Large, open kitchen/ dinning room/ living room with great views, lots of light, and a vintage wood stove.
Handcrafted Modern Kitchen with dishwasher, gas stove.
To comply with CA housing code, A one month minimum (32 nights) lease is required as well as gas and electric utilities transfered to the new tenant for the duration of the lease term.

Our family rented this property for a week just this past month and would highly recommend it to others. We are a family of five, so it gave our three children plenty of rooms to relax in when we returned after our busy days of sightseeing and touring. The spacious flat provides a big kitchen and a living room that we all enjoyed. The location is great, easy to zip to downtown San Francisco and the local neighborhood has great shops, restaurants, etc... We would definitely stay here again!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers.

our family of 6 (3 adults + 3 children) traveled to S.F. as part of our summer vacation, and stayed at this property. The place was very spacious, clean, and included all of the amenities advertised. The owner was very helpful, and responded very quickly to our inquiries. The views from the house were spectacular ( when there was no fog), and the neighborhood eateries were plentiful and good. We had a car, so it was easy to navigate to all areas of the city pretty easily. I would definitely highly recommend this vacation rental.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, families with teenagers.

We had such a wonderful stay in this lovely home. It was just as pictured, in great condition, and Athena was so helpful regarding things to do in the area and preparing us to get into the house. We loved reading about the history of her home and exploring the neighborhood with our children (6) and (4). It was perfect for our two week stay. We loved cooking in the kitchen with it's spectacular view of all of SF. It is a well organized home with pretty, cozy rooms and lovely light. Highly recommend.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

We (my husband, two children & I) have recently returned from a weeks stay in this beautiful part of the world. Our accomodation was just as we expected. Accurately described. We had everything we needed and our host could not have been more helpful. Everything was clean and well maintained. I would recommend this property to anyone. It is conveniently located with a large supermarket just up the hill. We also discovered a great oriental restaurant which we used twice during our stay. Thank you Athena.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We found the property met our need for a place that comfortably slept 5, near our son's home in Twin Peaks neighborhood. We much prefer a house over a hotel room since we first did VRBO for our son's wedding in San Francisco 5 yrs. ago. We had a few small issues that were addressed by the owner. She was out of country but totally available by email. The home hasn't been with VRBO long so we enjoyed tossing out ideas to improve the experience. The house has plenty of parking which is a huge bonus in S.F. It sits on a hill overlooking the homes on other side of the street. The neighborhood is very, very quiet. The view is broad & impressive especially from the kitchen where I spent some time, and also from L.R., D.R, & master bedroom. Furnishings are spare but adequate & having only one bathroom (it's cute) requires cooperation. There is a small mall around the corner & up the hill with a Safeway as it's anchor. We shopped there for breakfast & lunch supplies. I recommend the Hong Kong style restaurant right beside it on the second floor. We celebrated Mother's Day there with our Chinese daughter in law & her Mom ordering for us. Very authentic. It's also convenient to areas that deserve exploring like Glen Park (great soft yogurt place), Bernal Heights (cute) & Noe Valley itself. All are like small villages within a city. We brought our Garmin along to use in rental car....a necessity there. In sum, the house isn't luxurious but a nice experience & we definitely prefer a neighborhood & home over other options, especially a pleasant neighborhood like this one.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers, families with teenagers.

The home lives up to its advertisement. The neighborhood was quiet, very convenient for recreation and living needs, and we felt safe as a family at all times. The home was naturally warmed during the day with the front facing eastward, and the heating system worked well in the evening and overnight. It was great not to have to worry about parking for our rental car. I particularly appreciated the uncluttered nature of the house; our 3 children and my wife and I had plenty of room. The washer and dryer were very convenient and efficient. The owner could not have been more caring and responsive to our needs, even though she was located 9 time zones away! Communications for our needs with the local support of the owner's family were excellent and we are very appreciative. We would recommend this vacation home to anyone, and would certainly be glad to stay here again on future visits. It helped us really enjoy our week in the great city of San Francisco.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We just came back from our 5 nights stay in this cottage. The house is very clean, and view to the city is wonderful --especially at night time. The room is big enough for our 6 persons, and it is a very quiet neighbourhood. The owner is not in local, however her brother just next door. he came over to fix the wifi within mins. From the house, left turn for 20 meters , there is a dirt trail on left side which led to the playground -- which also has a good view. I have rented a mini-van. there is no problem parking off street. The location is close to twin peaks, personally thinking the view is better than Coit tower. We have been driving in and out everyday, have been enjoying it very much. Less than one mile, there is a supermarket, drug store, susi take out and a big chinese sea food restaurant. The owner also sent me some of her favorite restaurants. I don't think you can really enjoy the walk in the neighbour hood too much since it really go up/down a lot. But the neighborhood looks very decent and safe. One thing is missing is the micro-wave. I didn't realize that until I bought the food. But it is not a big deal just a suprise to me.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers.

I rented this lovely place for a moms' get-a-way weekend. The 5 of us were very comfortable in the space, loved the views, and were charmed by the neighborhood. The view from the living room and kitchen of the cityscape is spectacular. The layout is functional and would be great for families too. The decor is a nice blend of class and quirk. The kitchen is well equipped. We spent hours inside staying warm and cozy while catching up on sleep and each others lives. When we were ready to step out the front door, we found urban hiking trails, stairway streets, and wonderfully varied architecture. (Don't miss Goat Hill, Laidley Street, and the Harry Street steps!) We enjoyed great food in the nearby neighborhoods of Noe Valley, Bernal Heights, and Diamond Heights. If you are coming with a car, don't fret -- street parking is ample. Public transportation is nearby if you are not afraid to walk a few hills. The owner and her local support team of family members were very responsive to our questions and concerns. I wouldn't hesitate to return or recommend this place to others looking for a San Francisco get-a-way for family or friends.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1920
About the owner: Hi. I'm Athena. I grew up in this house with my 3 brothers, as did my father before me. We are an artistic, eclectic, musical family. together we have recently renovated this beautiful house throughout to include all the mod cons and comforts including new heaters in every room while keeping the charm and old-school feel of the house. I live in Italy half the year and travel a lot through my music, (I play Irish Fiddle) so I am renting the house while I'm away. We love San Francisco like crazy and are fortunate to be able to share this magical spot in the hills with you.
Why the Owner Chose Diamond Heights:
This is not the overcrowded, overpriced tourist San Francisco. It is everything I personally love about this city: The inspiring beauty, the gourmet everything, the easygoing joie de vivre!
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
The house is beautifully decorated in a relaxed, mid century style with many sweet touches, the huge wild back yard is perfect for kids to romp around in or pets to let off steam. Billy Goat hill is less than a block away, this natural habitat is a rare find in the heart of SF. Glen Park has a fabulous Natural Grocery Store, with excellent California Wine and Produce. Get take-away from their deli for a delicious dinner or picnic.
Take a stroll around the block. This hill is spectacular from all directions. See The Pacific, The Bay, and the mountains beyond!
Glen Park Canyon is an amazing natural area. Rock Climbers love the bouldering! As we're almost in the center of San Francisco if you look on a map, we're convenient to many neighborhoods and have easy access to HWY 280 for trips down the coast, Silicon Valley, SFO airport or San Jose.
