Our family vacation to Manzanita was in early October 2012. It was a first visit to the area for all of us, and I don't think we could have been more pleased with the location and Abby and Dan's rental home. There were 8 adults in our group, one 3-year old child, and one dog. The house had plenty of room for all of us. Here are some highlights: * House was perfectly clean and organized upon check-in. Bed linens in great condition. Plenty of clean towels. * Owners provided all the necessary information for making rental and check-in easy. * House is set up for recycling and composting * Nice supply of beach toys for little ones * Upstairs entertainment system set up with Roku player that made it easy to use Netflix, Pandora, Youtube TV, etc. * House was stocked with plenty of wood for using in living room stove. * Hot tub in very good condition and very clean. * House is situated on culdesac at end of quiet street filled with attractive homes (no McMansions). Very quiet surroundings plus lack of traffic near house a definite plus when vacationing with small child. * Walk to beach along trail at the end of the street. Just an 11 minute walk. Trail goes through a protected wetland. Downhill heading to beach. Uphill on the way back. Doable for everyone in our group, young and not-so-young. * Manzanita beach is simply beautiful. So clean. Not at all crowded during our stay. Most folks take their dogs for walks without leashes. Beautiful sunsets. Water felt ice cold to me, but clean, clear and beach gradually sloped to the water. Waves near the shore were quite gentle. My daughter didn't mind the cold water. Very kid-friendly beach. * We cooked most of our meals at the house, so I can't comment on local restaurants. But downtown Manzanita seemed like a lovely little place to explore. Not surprisingly, nearby grocery stores were somewhat small compared to those where we live. Prices seemed a bit high, but you can generally find what you need. * Neighbors said we lucked out with the weather. All but two of the days we were there were mostly sunny. Weather felt quite cool, so definitely pack warm, layering clothes. All in all, the attention to renters' needs that Dan and Abby have given this property goes beyond anything I have seen at any other vacation property where I have stayed before. They are doing an amazing job. I wouldn't think twice about where to stay if given the chance to go to the Oregon coast again. Thank you again for a wonderful stay!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with young children, pet owners, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thanks for sharing the details of what you enjoyed about our rental home. We hope to host you again! Abby & Dan

We had such a great week at your rental property! It was super clean and comfortable. I love the fact that you have thought of everything a group might need to have a fun stay - i.e., the bikes to head to town, the games, ping pong, books, and all the great supplies in the kitchen. It was nice for cooking up some much enjoyed seafood! The beds were really comfortable and we loved being able to hear the waves in the distance lulling us to sleep. We also loved having a hot tub to soak our sore muscles in after a day of hiking. Thanks so much for making our trip to Manzanita so enjoyable. We are telling all our friends about your home!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

I have finally found the perfect spot to vacation with my family! After ten years of traveling to Oregon from Phoenix to visit my son during his college years and now beyond, I was desperate for more than a long weekend in a hotel. Quite serendipitously, this lovely home in Manzanita came into my life. The Oregon coast was glorious with it's amazing rain forests, incredibly beautiful beaches and wonderful trails. The town of Manzanita was charming and lovely in its' people, shops and restaurants. And, the rental house was like being home. We cooked lovely dinners and breakfasts, sat out under the stars on the deck, listening to the nearby surf and enjoyed a much needed soak in the hot tub after yoga and hiking. With three floors with bedrooms and bathrooms on each floor, we all had just enough privacy. The kitchen had everything we needed, plus some. The beds and bedding were very comfy and everything was spotless. And, the helpful suggestions for destinations, be they hiking, dining, driving, were all great. I can't wait for next summer to do it all again.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, people with disabilities, adventure seekers, families with young children, tourists without a car, pet owners, girls getaway.

At first I was a bit apprehensive finding a vacation rental on Craigslist but, in truth, we are so happy to have found this home! Unlike most houses or motels one stays at, this was truly a very inviting and comfortable home as exactly described in the listing (only nicer!)...very clean and inviting, well laid out and very tastefully maintained. The hot tub was a huge hit with everyone and a nice addition. My husband was itching to play a game of ping-pong but the hot tub won out! The beds were very comfy and the kitchen was great. We could all spread out in the spacious living room and enjoy one of the several movies or watch a movie on Netflix. The lovely town of Manzanita and beach is a short distance from the home and is very quaint and charming. Our dog, Mr Quinn loved the pet shop and picked out a prized chew toy. The bakery has the most delicious scones and my fav was the yarn shop. The owners greeted us with a nice welcoming letter and a little bag of sweets! All in all, their home made it feel like this was own home. Everyone had such a wonderful time that we would highly recommend their home. A huge thank you to the owners!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We had a fabulous week! The house is as clean as my own house would be, and we really appreciated that. The house is also really well appointed - linens, towels, kitchen stuff, furnishings, wall art, laundry, game room, decks, hot tub, all this made it a home, not just a rental! It was the first time on the coast for several of us, and we just loved the serene setting among the forested mountains and beautiful beaches. The homeowner made lots of perfect suggestions for places to go and things to do - and this really helped narrow to the best adventures. We walked several miles every day - on the beaches and beautiful mountain trail - it was such a healthy vacation! Between the lovely & friendly Manzanita community, nearby Cannon Beach, and all the beaches and trails in the area - there is so much to do, a week just wasn't enough! We'll be back!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with young children, pet owners, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thanks for sharing your enthusiam about staying in our home for your vacation. Hope to see you & your family again soon!

As a group of late 20 something married couples wanting to catch up on college/high school old times and take a break from the babies for a few days I want to say this home was perfect! Each floor had it's own restroom. There was a large shower on the main floor and a soaking tub on the top floor. We really appreciated the hot tub. I watched the stars through the skylight in the master bedroom. Everything was well maintained. The grill was very convenient to the kitchen. The furniture in the living room was very comfortable. The HD TV was the right size for the living room and we really appreciated the Netflix and Pandora. We loved the tile floors! The view was wonderful! You can see the ocean in the distance and the mountains up close. Manzanita was a short walk down the hill passed some truly interesting Pacific Northwest homes. The beach was even closer. There were easy to understand instructions for everything which we really appreciated and have not found in other vacation rentals. Plus, every time we thought we had forgotten something a rousing search of the drawers always provided us with a replacement for the missing item! This place had everything! Thank you for providing us with the perfect space to have a much needed getaway! We'll be back for certain!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, tourists without a car, pet owners, girls getaway.
Owner response: Glad you so enjoyed your stay at our home. It has been very enjoyable for us to attempt to see the needs of our tenants as they stay here in Manzanita. Wonderful that you wish to return, note our calendar for 2013 is starting go fill already. So let us know as soon as you get your dates for your next visit to the coast!

The owners were terrific and the house was even better than we expected. Incredibly clean and great use of space. We had four teenagers with us who were able to all have a little space to themselves (and we got some space to ourselves). Easy walk to the beach or into town. Great hiking nearby and a beautiful view of the mountain. We'd highly recommend.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with young children, pet owners, girls getaway.
Owner response: Your kind description of our home & your visit is appreciated. We are thrilled that you took advantage of hiking the highest headland on the Oregon Coast. Even more enjoyable as you sit in the living room, watching the play of clouds over the mountain, knowing what the view is like from the top!

Would like to thank Dan & Abbey for sharing their lovely home. My husband & I & his 2 sons & daughter-in-law rented the home for a week. We choose this house because it had the number of rooms we needed but most importantly was it was pet-friendly. We have a small dog that goes everywhere we go. The minute we walked in we felt at home. The house was very clean & well stocked. We loved the heated floors. Thank you Abbey & Dan for the wine & the flowers. We plan on visiting Mananita again in the future & would love to stay again. This rental property was well-stocked with kitchenware, towels, and items for leisure activities. The home was incredibly clean and well-maintained, in addition to being tastefully decorated. The rooms can accommodate many more sleepers than we had on our trip. The caretakers were quite responsive with any issues that came up. One recommendation is that the bikes that are offered for use could desperately use tune-ups. I went for a ride one day and found that only one brake was working. I'm sure it is a challenge to keep these working due to the weather at the coast. The trail to the beach could use a bit of an update as some parts can be a little steep. I did enjoy the proximity to the beach and using the trail, and took several morning jogs as a result of our location and trail access. The town of Manzanita has a lot to offer, especially compared to some other towns we explored further south. I'd recommend the funcycles on the beach, attending the farmer's market, exploring Oswald West, a trip to Cannon Beach during low tide for the tidepools, the Terra Cotta restaurant for a nice dinner, Wanda's for breakfast and the pizza place. I would definitely recommend this property to others.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, girls getaway.
Owner response: Nice to read that you liked your time spent in our home. Thanks for the heads up on the bikes. We have given them all the requested tune up. It is our desire to make sure that the needs of our visitors are met. The City of Manzanita is responsible for the trail to the beach & they usually do a great job keeping the trail bed in good shape & vegetation trimmed back. I know that we love to take this non busy & quick walk to the beach from our home.

About the owner: We love a good vacation & want to provide you with the best experience possible in Manzanita. We live just 2 miles from this rental & will be able to assist you with any problems that may arise during your stay in our vacation home. We know how much fun it is to travel with your pets (we have a sweet dog named Bella) so this is why our home is pet friendly & open to well behaved animals.
Why the Owner Chose Manzanita:
We looked for 15 years on the WA & OR coast before buying our rental home in Manzanita. The first time we turned off hwy 101 & headed down Laneda to Manzanita, we knew this was the place! We didn’t even have to speak a word. The beauty was immediate & the people of the area are wonderful.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Our home is big enough for your large group but the 3 level floor plan allows for the opportunity of peace & quiet & lots of personal space.
