Torreon is a gated golf community developed by Desert Troon to accomodate the Phoenix (3 hour drive)and Tucson people (4 hour drive)looking for cooler summer temperatures.It is Arizona,sunny 350 days a year but here in the White Mountains (6,500 ft elevation) we rejoice in summer temperatures rarely reaching the 90's. With no humidity or no bugs, it is the best weather in the United States!
We know the importance of your 4 legged family member so we are pet-friendly, but beware Torreon does not allow fences so there is no containment.
The garage holds 2 cars and car rental & adult bikes are available. Great trails abound in surrounding state forests or walk and bike within the gated community. 5 minute WALKING distance to Clubhouse, Family Center, tennis, pool,hot tub, basketball, sand volleyball, fishing and Fitness Center. Two world class 18 Troon Golf courses, great restaurant & bar on site. There are riding trails behind Torreon on state lands, horse boarding facilities or arena and group horseback riding lessions.
What more could you ask for? We are in a fabulous location for both adults and children, beautiful setting, safe (24/7 roaming security),magnificent weather. Safeway grocery store is a 5 minute drive. Drive to Show Low (5 minutes) or Pinetop/Lakeside (20 minutes) for restaurants, shopping, antiquing. Come discover the White Mountains of Arizona and make everyone's summer memorable.
For winter guests, the Sunrise ski resort man-makes snow for a full season of skiing, snowboarding or snowmobiling. Sunrise is a 45 minute drive from our cabin, many rental stores along the way as well as at the base of the mountain. 4 wheel drive car is recommended.

We wish many of our German friends had the opportunity to stay at this very special family loghome: we were surprised by the sheer size of it, by its rich equipment - each room has it's own specific style - and by the fantastic views over the forests of the Mogollon Rim and of the White Mountains in the distance. The spacious deck offers opportunities to spend one's time lazing in the sun, or if need be also in the shade. One can sit outside at a big pond or read inside in any of the comfortable armchairs in one of the sitting rooms. The kitchen is extremely well equipped and invites you to cook delicious meals. The whole property is very clean and well-maintained. The golf course is close by, just five minutes walk through the woods or along the paved road, and offers unlimited possibilities for a stroll also for non-golfers. We would both of us like to come back to this paradise in the forest as soon as possible.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway.

We had a wonderful stay in this home. We were traveling with four children and they never ran out of things to do around the house. The entertainment system and pool table provided a lot of fun for visiting family members as well. The kitchen is fabulous and we enjoyed cooking daily and had many meals outside on the deck. The owner was extremely helpful, friendly and always accessible.Recommended for: Girls getaway, pet owners, families with young children, sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

The property was beautiful, completely well stocked with everything we could imagine, and very comfortable for our party of 9. The owners were wonderful to deal with and helpful in every way. Our expectations were high because of the beautiful photos and description, but our expectations were exceeded by this home.Recommended for: Girls getaway, people with disabilities, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers.

I've vacationed in a lot of lovely places in my 56 years, but this stay rises to the top of my list! Our extended family was lucky enough to trip upon this opportunity and will certainly be back. Although I got a kick out of referring to it as 'the log mansion', the place could not have been more intimate, cozy and inviting. The home is beautifully appointed and cared for, from a state of the art kitchen, game and media rooms to absolutely charming bedrooms, all with en suite bathrooms. While we stayed there during the winter season (great for skiing by the way!!), I can only imagine the good time to be had during the summer with swimming, hiking, horseback riding etc. We were also pleased by Show Low's proximity to Tucson. the Petrified Forest, and Meteor Crater park for day trips with the Grand Canyon and Canyon DeChelly easily doable with a few overnights. There's just so much natural beauty in this part of the world, it's an absolute bucket list reservation to make.Recommended for: Pet owners, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

I have, on several occasions, stayed in this property. The home is beautifully constructed, decorated and appointed. When not slumbering in one of the comfy bedrooms, you will love cooking a gourmet meal in the charming modern kitchen, breathing the fresh mountain air as you sit on the deck and gaze over the forest line, relishing some quiet time in the cozy den or enjoying a movie in the home theater. The gated country club seating the Log home is located in will draw you out for long walks and starry nights. This loghome getaway is such a special property you will never want to leave!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

About the owner: We lived in Fountain Hills AZ for three years and drove to the White Mountains (2 1/2 hours) for respite from the summer heat. We fell in love with the mountain views, the cool temperatures, 4 seasons and all the outdoor activities.After living abroad for 20 years, we found our place of peace in the White Mountains and built our dream loghome.The four of us and dog Jack live in this loghome year round except for the summer and 2 weeks around Christmas when we travel.

We accept well behaved pets, but remember there are no enclosures in Torreon and there is a leash law.As with most private custom homes, this rental does not include access to the golf courses. There is a trial membership option available (inquire at the Torreon Golf Club) for summer golfing.
