The photos depict the property exactly! The feel is like being in the country, especially the view down the hill into adjacent properties. Bird singing, roosters crowing, donkeys braying, wild turkeys gobbling. If only the noise of the road wasn't mixed in, it would be perfect. We enjoyed staying here a great deal, although there are a few drawbacks. It is about 45 minutes to an hour drive south of Kailua-Kona which makes visiting north beaches a longer drive but heading to the volcanoes and Hilo shorter. Depends on what you want to do. Some in our group (2 couples) found the living room couch very uncomfortable. I, personally, loved it. It's one of those slouchy, sink into, kind of couches. One thing we all wished for was better lighting in the living room area. We weren't tv watchers while there and wanted to read or be on our iPads at night. The lighting is pretty dim for those activities. Perhaps a stand up lamp at either end of the couch would be nice. That's it! Everything else was superb. The beds were like falling into clouds. The kitchen was better stocked than mine at home and was a joy to cook in, which we did most nights. The beach equipment was top of the line and we enjoyed having beach umbrellas since then any beach was an option, if we didn't have to worry about shade. The views from the decks at all hours were wonderful. I loved sitting outside in the mornings with coffee and papaya and watching the geckos come out into the sun. We had a "pet" spider that stayed in its web the entire two weeks we were there. We occasionally fed it moths. The space in the house was great for two couples to spread out in without feeling like we were in each others' ways. We traveled both north to many favorite beaches and south to Hilo and the volcano park and the black sand beach. We walked on lava for a twilight view of the flows into the ocean, definitely the most strenuous activity of our two week stay. The owners were very pleasant to deal with and extremely prompt with everything. The caretakers equally so. We had one instance when the gate to the house wouldn't work. We called the caretakers and they both arrived within ten minutes. A short in the circuit fixed quickly. I would stay here again in a second!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Our family of 4 adults and 3 kids under the age of 8 had a great time on the Big Island. The home is well-taken care of and was a pleasure to stay in. The photos are right on! The extra kitchen and bathroom amenities add a nice touch. The views from the balcony are beautiful. We had issue with the internet connection and Tina was just a phone call away and went out of her way to help us resolve the issue. It is great to have wifi to research places of interest and tours while in Hawaii. We especially enjoyed 2 Step Beach, about 15 minutes away. The snorkeling there has great coral and fish viewing even when the ocean is a bit rough, but no sand for kids. An adult from our group actually swam out a little ways there and interacted with 11 dolphins one morning. For kids, there is a black sand beach about 2 miles from the house. We also spent time at Hilo (2 hr. drive) and at the warm pond down in Puna, about 30 min. south of the volcano (about a 90-min. drive). The volcano by the visitor's center is a sight to see at night, as are the steam vents and lava tube walk during the day. We also traveled up north to Hookena Beach for beautiful sand and wave jumping with the kids, about a 2-hour drive. Stop at Costco on your way to the house from the airport (5 miles south of airport) and you will be all set. There are not a lot of restaurants close to the house, but with a well-stocked kitchen, it is easy to eat in. We also felt very safe with both a gated road and gate on the property and with the gps we found the address easily. This listing is a great value for Hawaii!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This is just a fantastic place! We arrived at night, after about one hour drive from KOA airport. The picture showed the house is situated at the top of hill, but it is actually right off highway 11 and very accessible. The kitchen was fully stocked so we were able to cook a late dinner for the entire family (you will have to do some grocery shopping before you get there). We were up early the next morning, it's just an incredible experience to have breakfast and coffee at the upstairs lani while enjoy the ocean view (not sunrise from this side of hill, but sunset over the ocean would be breathtaking). All the appliances are high-end. We also liked the decor throughout the house, it shows the good taste of the owner. It also has all the gears outside for snorkeling, etc. We were talking about spending a week here next time to totally relax and enjoy! The owner is very accommdating and easy to deal with, sent me an email about the refunded deposit within two days of departure. definitely recommend it for all kinds of trips, romantic, family, with teenagers or small kids,.....Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children.

Perfect home thank you. We stayed in three homes over our trip on the Big Island and yours was by far the best one. The views straight down to the ocean are huge and the sunsets perfectly in line of the views from the decks. Was easy to find only one turn off the main highway about an hour drive from the airport. Nice quiet area in coffee plantation area and Ho'okeena beach was my favorite beach 10 minutes away. The house furnishings and beach gear where all Tommy Bahama and top quality. The bed mattress' where the best I have ever slept on. The house was very clean and had everything you could think of in it. 2.5 baths and televisions in every room. All the appliances and furnishings and beach gear looked bran new top quality. The outdoor shower was really nice after a long beach day. Was very easy to deal with the owners over VRBO and we got our DD refund the day after we left. Loved everything about this place and would stay here again. Brought our two year old girl with us and she had a great time looking for Gecko's and had lots of space to run around and explore. Thanks again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Every aspect of this home is a class act; from the beautiful furnishings, high end appliances to the breath taking views. The exterior of the home has an upper and lower lani for enjoying beautiful ocean views and amazing sunsets. We were pleasantly surprised to find the house equipped with all the beach necessities (snorkel gear, boogie boards, sand chairs, umbrellas, ice chest and even beach towels). My husband and I are so happy to have spent our 30th wedding anniversary in this magnificent home and are definitely planning a return trip with friends. To the owners of the home Mahalo!Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

This home was just what we were looking for. The Captain Cook area the home is in is away from the hustle of tourist, but still close enough to get anywhere quickly. We snorkeled at 2-step (10 min away) had amazing food at Guys Grinds just down the road and enjoyed the quiet relaxing nights at the home. There is everything you need to make your stay comfortable, even hair dryers in each bathrooms. They really did think about the little things, such as soaps, towels and all the things you would love about a hotel stay. We loved cooking and sitting on the balcony to enjoy the views. I had missed some of the info in the welcome packet and called the caretakers who were very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this home!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

The pictures don't do this house justice! It was nicer in person and very welcoming. Modern appliances, fully stocked and remodeled kitchen, elegant and comfortable furnishings, and plenty of room for my family of four. It is a solid 45 minutes from Kona, but the peace and quiet was well worth it. We found that it was actually nice being sourth of Kona for shorter trips to the Volcano National Park and other hot spots like South Point and Punalu'u. There were also plenty of little touches that helped make our stay so much better...like the beach gear that was provided. Everything was in excellent condition and so nice to have on our many trips to Ho'okena (a fabulous snorkeling and swimming beach about 15 minutes away). The views from both the deck upstairs and the lanai downstairs were gorgeous--beautiful sunsets. There is no air conditioning, but it really is not needed as there are ceiling fans everywhere and a nice breeze. We used the grill downstairs a lot and my girls loved playing with the numerous geckos that visit. I would highly recommend this house to anyone who wants to get away from it all and/or wants to do their own touring of the island.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Newly renovated and immaculately clean 2-storey home with high quality amenities. We enjoyed many breakfasts and dinners on the expansive deck, which had uninterrupted views down to and including the ocean. Short drive down to some of the best snorkeling on the island at Honaunau Bay (2-step). Great area to de-stress with minimum distractions. Would stay here again.Recommended for: Romantic getaway.
