My son and I enjoyed our 2-night getaway at Red Paws Ranch. We used the place as a home base to snowboard at Wolf Creek and it was nice being slightly outside of Pagosa Springs. We especially appreciated the nice woodstove and the excellent movie selection! Thanks Jason and Juliette!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, pet owners, romantic getaway.

My boyfriend and I recently rented this guest cabin as a getaway/ski weekend. The skiing at Wolf Creek was amazing as was our stay in Pagosa Springs. This is a perfect and cozy cabin for a couple escaping the city. The cabin has all the necessities along with a very cozy wood burning stove, kitchenette, WiFi, and a DVD player with a draw stocked full of the latest movies (no cable--but we didn't care). The cabin has very high ceilings which makes the place feel much more spacious than the pictures indicate. We were very comfortable here during our three night stay. We brought our pup along and he loved running around the yard and examining the animals. Jason and Juliette were wonderful hosts. They had firewood waiting for us and Jason was extremely helpful in providing tips for skiing, diner, and going to the springs. This place is peaceful and a bargain! It's only a 5 minute drive into town but is still a beautiful and secluded area. We highly recommend this guest cabin.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, pet owners, romantic getaway.
Owner response: We're glad you enjoyed your stay and were able to get in some great skiing at Wolf Creek. We welcome you to return with Baxter anytime, the summer & fall are great times to come for some hiking, biking and rafting, as well as the Springs - hope to see you again soon! Jason & Juliette

If you are considering renting this cabin, do it. :) The cabin is set back in the mountain about 10 minutes from downtown Pagosa and we really liked being out of the town. The cabin is right next to the owner's house, and while that is usually a negative, the couple that own this rental are not only extremely respectful of privacy, but also welcoming, helpful, and kind. They gave us firewood and let us in after we locked ourselves out (d'oh!) and made sure that we were never hesitant to ask them if we needed anything. Juliette, thank you again! The cabin is small but perfect for a couple. We had our small dog with us too and the owners were very welcoming to him too. Everything was very well cleaned and it has an awesome wood stove that keeps the cabin toasty. There is also automatic heating, if you prefer. The water in the shower became lukewarm to cold once, but this wasn't a consistent thing. Juliette was able to recommend places to visit and dine, but I'd recommend the Wildlife Park just a few minutes south (only go at feeding time ~2:00pm) and the Ski & Bow Shop on the right just when you get to Pagosa. Our car is wimpy and we might not have made it if it had freshly snowed, so I'd call and talk with the owners and look at the weather reports if you're concerned.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you guys!!! I am so glad you had a good time and were comfortable in our cabin. So sorry about the showers. Sometimes if you take a couple of showers back to back it will run lukewarm. The hot water tank is not super large. Hope to see you and Ollie again!!!!

PERFECT IN EVERY WAY. Easy drive to Wolf Creek, less than 5 minutes to downtown Pagosa. The cabin is much bigger than we expected. Accommodations and service far exceeded our expectations. The ranch was beautiful with 18 Elk grazing off the land. Great recommendations from the owner for food, drinks and entertainment. No issues or problems. I wouldn't consider going anywhere else. Thanks!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you, Dan!! You guys were awesome and we adored looking after Boone your fabulous dog. Do come back and visit us again! Juliette and Jason

Juliette and Jason were great hosts. They explained everything and the place was exactly as advertised. It is very warm and calming, much better than a hotel. The location was all we wanted, perfectly quiet, and removed from town. We'll definately stay there again. Being able to take our dog with us made all the difference also.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thank you so much for your kind words, Bob. We are so happy you guys had a good time and it was our pleasure to have you stay. Your dog was terrific and always welcome!! We hope to see you again in the not too distant future. Best wishes Juliette and Jason

I stayed at the Red Paws Ranch for one month while attending a program at the Parelli Ranch in Pagosa Springs. This was a great place . . .the perfect place for rest and relaxation. It is a quiet location off the beaten path, but close to town. I had everything I needed. . . great internet connection, a small kitchenette, with microwave, toaster oven, stove and small frig; the double bed was comfortable, and the shower was hot. The apartment was clean and well maintained. Jason and Juliette were very helpful, and even accomidated my horse before and after the program! I would definately recommend Red Paws Ranch to anyone planning a visit to Pagosa!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks so much Ellen!! It was a pleasure to have and your horse stay with us. Hope to see you again in the not too distant future!!

About the owner: We moved to Pagosa Springs from Kanab, Utah where we had both enjoyed 8 wonderful years working for Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. We also ran a successful Guest house from our home. . Jason received an exciting new job offer with Parelli Natural Horsemanship which brought us here to Pagosa. Juliette is a dedicated Natural horsewoman and is currently a student with Parelli Natural Horsemanship. We have 6 rescue dogs, 3 pygmy goats and 2 horses all sharing our life with us. We are thrilled to be able to share our wonderful Guest Cabin with fellow travelers and we will do everything to make your stay memorable.
Why the Owner Chose Pagosa Springs:
One of the reasons we decided to buy the main house was because the guest cabin that came with it was so nice and we could see the potential. Also since we had so enjoyed running our rental property in Utah it seemed like a natural progression.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
River fishing is available in town on the San Juan River. The quality waters of the San Juan below Navajo Lake is world renowned for the incredible trout fly fishing. Wolf Creek Ski area boasts the most snow in Colorado, with an average of over 600 inches per year!
The Wolf Creek Ski Area is about 20 miles away and the main roads are always kept clean. This ski area gets more snow than any other ski area in Colorado, on average.
Pagosa Springs is a magical place to visit any time of year. In the spring, summer and fall, choose from rafting, kayaking, hiking, fishing and hot air ballooning just to name a few. The Hot Springs are open year round and they are a few minutes from the ranch. In the winter months, there is skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, sleigh rides, ice-skating, ice-fishing and cross-country skiing to enjoy.
