Domaine Escudes is set in 41 hectares of landscaped park and farmland on the edge of a hamlet midway between the Atlantic and the Med. A former hunting lodge of the Duc de Toulouse, close to the hamlet of Vigueron and only 10 minutes drive from the vibrant market town of Beaumont de Lomagne. The house is conveniently located only 40 minutes from Toulouse Blagnac airport. The giant parasol pines guide you through wrought iron gates into this perfectly symmetrical house, with a giant sweeping staircase up to the principal floor and vibrant blue shutters. Behind is a lovely lake/canal sprinkled with ducks; beyond, waving fields of sunflowers and corn. There are two sitting rooms, sofas galore, books, games, TV, and doors that open onto a terrace over the water. The kitchen has 2 large fridges, and is well stocked with utensils for every eventuality. There is a dining room for candlelit dinners, heaps of comfortable beds (mostly twins) dressed in fine linen, numerous bathrooms with fluffy white towels. A solar heated swimming pool, surrounded by numerous sun loungers and parasols, along with a tennis court and practice wall plus a basket ball net are also part of this wonderful house. Golf, horse racing, Toulouse and Carcassonne - all are near. A friendly English Guardian looks after the place. Peace reigns supreme.

A really wonderful and spacious house with all the facilities required for an great holiday in the depths of the french countryside. Excellent restaurants beautiful local market towns. The swimming pool, tennis courts and the surrounding land ensure that there is plenty to do for both adults and children.Recommended for: Girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Beautifully appointed, glorious gardens with majestic pins parasols, great pool, fabulous birds and wildfowl. It is hard to imagine a better place from which to explore south-western France.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, people with disabilities, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

I spent a wonderful week at Domaine Escudes last Spring - a wonderful peaceful spot in a rural area , perfect for rest and relaxation . The house itself is very spacious and comfortable with all mod cons - one can spend many hours on the verandah or by the pool relaxing or explore the local countryside with a host of good markets , eateries and other attractions such as the trotting in Beaumont . Highly recommended .Recommended for: People with disabilities, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Myself and girlfriends took Escudes for a winter break having returned the children to school after a hectic Christmas holidays! We took our own DVDs and took full advantage of the Sky TV and the roaring fire. The drive was uncomplicated from Toulouse and the instructions very easy to follow. We thoroughly enjoyed hot chocolates in the local market in Beaumont and beyond. The weather was amazingly good enough to sit in the sunshine on the terrace and enjoy the view of ducks and swans over the lake. We took it in turns to cook in the well stocked kitchen and provisions were easy to buy either in the local market (5 mins) or a choice of local supermarkets. Terry (the English speaking) guardian of the property couldn't have been more helpful, ensuring we always had enough firewood and was always on hand to give us fresh eggs from his chickens and to ensure we had everything we could need. We felt we benefitted from the relaxed atmosphere of an obviously well loved home (family photos and so on) whilst also enjoying beautifully luxurious surroundings (lovely furnishings and a stunning location) Escudes was peaceful and relaxing and the pool, tennis court and amazing outdoor space which seems to go on forever, means we shall definately have to return with our families at a later date. For the time being, however, we may just have to keep it as our own little secret...Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

About the owner: We are a English family with 4 children who tired with renting bad holiday properties abroad decided to buy our own holiday home so that we could ensure that we had the type of relaxing holiday we wanted with all the facilities and convenience of a good location. The property is good for weekends or longer visits because of its location close to Toulouse International Airport.
Why the Owner Chose Toulouse:
We chose this location for the space, the convenience of its location, 2 hours from the Pyrennes ski resorts, 2 hours from the beaches at either Biarritz or Perpignan, and in a properly rural region of France with all the wonderful French markets and music which abound in this region and all only 40 minutes from Toulouse airport, which meant weekend visits were easy.
