great family vacation home
great family vacation home
We had a great time staying in Cancun, at this property Michael, the owner was above and beyond helpful and so was Carmen the property manager. Such nice details taken care of, fresh fruit and flowers when we arrived, we hadn't rented a vehicle and Carmen arranged everything for us having the vehicle dropped at the house. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the house was clean and well cared for. Our morning coffee on the roof top was great, as was our evening glass of wine up there! The house was a close drive to the beach for our family, our kids played with the games constantly and in all I would highly recommend this home! Thanks Carmen and Michael for a great stay.

Manager response: It was great to get your review, Deb, because I just heard from Carmen yesterday who told me to send you her regards! She was blown away with how clean you left the home...especially with your 7 kids! She also noted that you were smiling the whole time she saw you...especially with 7 kids! LOL! Thanks again! Hopefully we will see you again soon!
Superb "Home" in Cancun
Superb "Home" in Cancun
We just got back from an incredible family reunion trip to Cancun, and Michael's property (La grande naranja y rojo casa) was central to that memorable experience. Our family group of 8 had a blast all week, and our teenage son actually slept in a hammock on the roof our last night there. The house was literally our rest & recuperation hub in between our activities (XPlor!, scuba diving, Isla Mujeres, tour of Tulum & Chichen-Itza), and had everything we wanted/needed and more. Most important to us was the opportunity to hang out together either downstairs or on the roof, as a large "private" group, that you can't match in any hotel or resort. In addition, the profusion of bedrooms and bathrooms (every room air-conditioned) gave everybody their "own turf" when they wanted it. Carmen, across the street, was very helpful in introducing us to the property and the area, and was very accessible all week whenever we had questions. And we give this property top marks for security/safety: the house is located in a true gated community with a real guardhouse, a border-crossing-worthy barrier that raises/lowers for each vehicle, and private guards raising & lowering said barrier 24/7. In short, we felt VERY secure. (For transportation during our visit, we rented two small cars all week, and were able to park on the street in front. This worked well for us, but YMMV) One note--the restaurant outside the gate (El Atajo) owned by Pepe was open ~9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. with great food--just don't wait to eat dinner too late! Michael, the owner, has done a great job with this home, and I know you will have as great an experience as we did. Thanks again, Michael! Since we're still around in 2013, we will DEFINTELY be back to take advantage of the Post-Apocalyptic Special! :-0

Manager response: That was just the best, Andy! Thanks so much for taking the time to write your comments. Carmen agreed that, indeed, your family was "the best"! Have a great year and hopefully we'll see you back for the Anderson Post-Apocalyptic Special real soon - come when the pool is up and running!!! Thanks, again!
Great multi-family vacation
Great multi-family vacation
This actually turned out to be a perfect property for my group. We had three families with four kids (ten total) between us. I have been to Cancun a few times and really didn't want to do the whole hotel zone thing again. We were here to see Chichen and other larger touristy places and we had never been to Isla Mujeres before so the location was really good (we actually walked to the Isla ferry). The community was gated and the guards were nice and helpful steering us to a great little local restaurant across the street. The house itself was just a great deal for the money. I wouldn't say it was high luxury but it was beautiful nonetheless. The downstairs was an incredible hang out for all of us. We took turns at the cool little game table (the first time in years I played Monopoly with my kids)...the TV was right there. I was surprised we had as many movie channels as we did and we brought a bunch of movies with us for the Blu Ray. The whole room was opened up so while two of the moms were cooking a few others were watching TV while a few others were playing poker on the dining room table. Nothing, however, beats the rooftop! We just loved it up there! Incredible breeze...we BBQ'd...kids loved the hammocks...the view was awesome...this was really the highlight of the house. The rooms themselves were each different and very nice. The beds were surprisingly comfy. The rooms all had some extra feature about them...one was huge, another had a whirlpool in the bathroom, another had a balcony. The kids had bunks in one room which they thought was cool. The adult couples had their own room which was great. Most of them had their own television if one of the couples just needed their own space. There were cool little Mexican decorative touches and we were all impressed with the brick dome on the way to the rooftop. One last note..Tony, the property manager who lives in the neighborhood, was just a great guy and was really helpful when we asked him a ton of stupid questions...thanks, Tony! Michael, the owner, was also just a nice person and really easy to work with.

Manager response: Wow, Jana! Thanks for this amazing feedback! We really enjoyed communicating with you and Cindy as well. So glad you all had a blast! Seriously, I just want to forget about my normal life and sit in those hammocks all day...rotate around the three of them to stare in the various view directions and melt in that breeze! Thanks for mentioning that! ...and, again, Tony. That guy is becoming so popular!Don't forget about us in the future. Have a great year! Best, Michael.
Relaxing getaway spot

We had a wonderful stay for me and three buddies here for a fishing trip. A ways off the resort area (which we liked) although only 5 minutes to downtown Cancun and the Ferry to Isle de Mujeres (we walked there and spent a great day on the island), 10-15 minutes ride to the barrier Island Resorts. Unit appeared new with private baths for three of the bedrooms. Individual split unit A/C's in each room so everyone could set their own temperature. Great area upstairs for hanging out with covered thatch roof and bar. We hung out in the hammocks up there most morning and evening enjoying coffees or drinks. Only negative is the neighborhood is only half developed but there were no issues. In fact the caretaker for the unit (tony) lives nearby and was helpful in getting us around and with any issues we has during our stay. Be sure to try out the little restaurant outside the gate. Just a tiny outdoor eatery but the food was great and the owner Pepe was super nice.

Manager response: Thanks, Dan! It was great to have you guys. Sorry your fishing got a bit rained out but it sounds like you made up for it with a round (or several) at the bar. Yeah, I love that little place outside the gate, too. I eat there pretty much every other day when I am there. So good...so cheap...and really nice people who put up with my bad Spanish.
Great place - great value

The condo was extremely clean (like new). It is about a 15 minute car ride from both downtown Cancun and the hotel nightlife. The ferry to Isla Mujeres is a 10 minute walk. A local restaurant, from which we regularly ate breakfast and lunch, was just outside the development – only a 5 minute walk at most. The roof of the condo is setup as a patio with a bar area and Tiki hut - great place to relax with a cocktail. The caretaker of the condo was available and helped us get around for the duration of our stay. He picked us up from the airport upon arrival, dropped us back at the airport for departure, drove us out in the evenings (to downtown and to the hotel area), drove us to exchange money, and took us grocery shopping. He was a great asset. Apart from saving us significant time locating a good exchange rate and the grocery store, he was also helpful in planning our activities. For our limited stay, no car was needed. By staying at the condo, we were able to access nightlife, nearby hotel bar/pool areas if desired, nearby golf, or venture to Isla Mujeres.

Manager response: Kevin, Is was great to hear from you and I'm glad you all had such a great time! I'm also glad you mentioned Tony because he is definitely available to do the same sort of thing again that he did with you all. In essence, he was your car AND driver for about the same price that my son just paid to rent a car down there when he visited. Cancun Centro has the strangest layout of any city I've ever seen...Tony just took you around everywhere for a steal. Thanks for taking the time to leave a review! Michael

Year Purchased: 2005
About: I am thrilled to be able to offer this property for many to enjoy! I am a pianist and teacher and produce performances of all kinds including theater works where I perform in character as famous composers. Check out a few links of my YouTube performances of Gershwin and Scriabin. Just search 'Michael Yannette' and either of those two composers names. Unfortunately, I don't get to visit my little paradise nearly as much as I would like but I hope to spend more time here as the years go by.
Why Other Cancun Properties:
In 2005, I took a year long sabbatical and spent some of my time in Cancun. A friend of a friend told me about this little gated community of Bahia Azul. Sixty percent of the development had already been built when I visited it for the first time. Throughout the home, the breeze filled the space with the most incredible feeling. There was a remarkable brick lined cupola - something that I simply had never seen before in the states. The space was open and airy and was well constructed to keep the space cool. But when I got to the rooftop I was absolutely overwhelmed - the ocean views were gorgeous. You could see Isla Mujeres in the distance and THAT BREEZE - INTOXICATING!!! I bought the property pre-construction within the week. Within one month of my purchase, Hurricane Wilma hit Cancun. I was still living here and endured three terrifying days of that horrible Cat 4-5 storm that stalled over the city. When the storm was over Cancun was devastated! It would be three years before construction finally would begin again. All of the construction workers had moved to the hotel zone. The home finally was completed in 2011 and morphed into something that was completely unique in the development. We had an inspiration to add another floor, raise the terrace and add the incredible circular palapa and 'Crow's Nest' with a Bar/BBQ and gorgeous Panamanian hammocks and the result is the most unique property in the development - none other like it - with much more space and custom features. Some things are worth the wait! I am thrilled with the result. ...just wish I could spend more time there. You'll have to enjoy it for me!
The Unique Benefits at this House:
I can honestly say I rather be relaxing in one of the hammocks on my rooftop than perhaps anywhere in the world. The terrace is not actually directly on the water like the hotels in the hotel zone but it has a feeling that is so much more private and intimate. It's so quiet up there! It towers above everything and has an incredible 360 view of everything...sunrises and sunsets, the golf course next door, Isla Mujeres, the ocean and hotel zone hotels in the distance. For a change of pace I relax in the hot whirlpool. I really enjoy it when my 26 year old son comes down with his girlfriend or when other family members come to visit because we are big gamers! We are a board game family so we junk out on games on the game table - a unique little Cancun creation of a circular table with 'pie piece' chairs that fit underneath it. The best part of it is playing games while we watch a Blue Ray on the GRANDE LCD screen and make some munchies in the kitchen. That entire space in on the same floor so it makes being together really easy and fun! If I want some alone time I hide out in my master room which is huge and watch one of the smaller TV's while lounging in the bed. The master is a great space because the entire front of the room is lined with windows so the light is wonderful. Every room in the house has its own mini-split AC so everyone can adjust the AC to their own taste. I went all out when purchasing the beds and bedding. One of the great things about being on vacation and hosting others is feeling like someone can really rest - the beds are very high quality Posturepedic beds with cozy high thread count sheets. I actually SLEEP when I come to Cancun when I really need to rest! And last but not least, after dreaming about that beautiful brick lined dome cupola for years, I finally built one into the top of the stairwell leading to the terrace. It has a great Spanish chandelier hanging from it and makes me smile everytime I pass it leading to my hammock!
