- The town of Friendship is undeveloped and offers a true taste of Maine. With scenic beaches, several lakes and on a peninsula jutting into the ocean, it is a quiet fishing village of small homes and quiet summer cottages. Kayak rentals are available in town. There is a small local grocery with deli & video rentals, library, hardware store, a playground and several churches. One of the most productive lobster harbors in the world, lobsters are available down on the docks - we also provide contact numbers of local lobster fishermen in our welcome kit. ...moreless

a beautiful place to rest your hat.......
a beautiful place to rest your hat.......
This was an amazing vacation, and a beautiful home. It was exactly what our family needed on our vacation. The deck is amazing just like the pic. The people of this small little town of "Friendship" were so friendly/nice. We took daily walks to the lake, and bought fresh lobster at the pier. The owners were extremely helpful and easy to deal with. Thank you....Maynard, upstate NY

FUN in FRIENDSHIP
FUN in FRIENDSHIP
Well how do you review a weeks worth of stuff in short words...not sure but i'll try and keep it simple. The owner and his wife are allowing folks like us to stay in a home their family enjoys when they are not there..well i personally wouldnt do it But i am glad they do. This home is awesome. The home draws youin makes you want to just sit around and do nothing all day and just take in the view. The property is secluded and makes you appreciate what i see as the real maine. A short drive can get you to any major harbor town and locally in friendship you have lobster pound at wharf and a market that looks small but you want it they have it.. surprising really but true for us. If you want to walk out of your door and shop all day this place is not for you but if you want to come back to your home base and feel spoiled and need or like the seclusion this is it hands down. I honestly almost want to keep quiet so this little gem doesnt get out to the masses but because our stay was so seamless thanks to the owners and the fun we had i have to tell it like it is. The best part is i truly believe the owners are renting their second home out only so others can see and feel what they do when they stay there. The little lake is awesome, the view superb, the short drive to anywhere and anything you want to do no problem. Shoot we could have spent 3 days just in FRIENDSHIP and the other 3 in ROCKLAND...or me personally i could have just pent all week at the property and lake eatin lobster from the local wharf. Anyhow this home is truly a gem just a short drive from whatever you want to do in any harbor town in MAINE. Fyi bar harbor is sweet and only 2 hrs or so away but after a day in ACADIA the nearby towns if you explore have it all and then some!

Why the Owner Chose Friendship:
Our family has been coming to Maine since the early 1900's - my wife and I searched the coast for a get-away home of our own that would embrace traditional Maine culture, nature, the ocean, and simplistic ease and beauty, we found all that and more at our beautiful cottage. Our children quickly named the cottage the Tree House. The privacy of the Tree House lends itself to playful and relaxing focused time together, and in our busy lives that's just what we look forward to in our time at the cottage.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Friendship is much the same as it was 100 years ago, quiet, focused on fishing, naturally beautiful. Early mornings we sip coffee on the deck and watch the lobster boats pull and bait their pots while gulls circle the stern for scraps. Bald Eagles, Osprey and Heron soar above while hummingbirds flit over to the flowers on our deck. As the household gets up, we make breakfast and eat looking over the bay, and as the sun climbs higher we slowly decide on lake vs. ocean, kayak vs. swim, hike vs. a hammock and a book, or, if we’re really ambitious, breaking away and driving to Rockland or Camden for lunch, but, we all agree to return to the Tree House for dinner to see what the day’s stunning sunset has in store... this is why we love the place.
