Nancy, so enjoyed our stay. The house was lovely and had everything we needed. I did take a cutting of the privet. Hope I can get it to root. I also left you a plant. It is an angel trumpet flower. We will be back. Safe travels to you!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Wonderful people to work with. Beautiful, Beautiful place. So many things to see and do nearby. We had so many plans but due to a family emergency, we had to leave after one day. They were very understanding and we do hope to return at another time. The rental was great. There is a whirlpool bath, and the house is really nice. My wife would probably be able to give you the details better. Even my kids commented on how nice the bed was. It's also about 200 yards from the beach. The beach is white sand, very nice. What was really amazing, though, was that my car broke down as soon as I got there, and Steve and Nancy loaned me a car for a day and a half!!! They were interested and attentive to my situation, helpful about where to go when we wanted to buy groceries, and we had a great chat about his car with the hemi in it, which I never got around to seeing. Great, great people, and a really nice rental house.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: We have traveled alot and know what it is like to have car trouble on vacation, we were happy to help you out.

5 STARS!! - Our Cruisin’ the Coast vacation experience could not have been better and a large part of it was due to this cottage. This cottage was an outstanding value for our 10-day stay in several areas: 1) Location: This cottage is located in the heart of the Mississippi coast and offers close proximity to everything important. It sits two blocks from to the beach, so beach access is no problem; but it’s also close to all the great restaurants, shopping, and highways that you would want to access during your vacation. 2) The Cottage: The Cottage itself feels new and comfortable, as well as nicely decorated and quite clean. The kitchen had everything needed to prepare meals which saved us a bundle on food. Beds and bed linens were quite comfortable. 3) Amenities: Jacuzzi tub was a luxury. Concrete driveway and space to park our trailer and tow-vehicle off-street was so nice. The washer and dryer were quite handy and allowed for lighter packing. Wi-fi signal is present. Owners Nancy and Steve were accommodating and nice to have nearby. 4) The Business Transaction: The owners of the Cottage were great to work with and extremely helpful in providing us anything we needed in order to make our stay enjoyable. Any time we needed directions or recommendations regarding places to go or things to see the owners helped us immediately. 5) Overall Experience: We feel lucky to have found the Sandcastle Cottage for our home base during the 2012 Cruisin’ the Coast experience. I give this Cottage my highest recommendation possible and would encourage families or singles to consider staying here. It was a superior value for the money.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

My handicapped husband, and our golden doodle, Hollyand I enjoyed a month in this cottage last January/February. We were very pleased with everthing about the cottage. The appliances were top of the line and the kitchen was furnished with everything I needed to be able to cook a complete dinner including baking my homemade pies. The grill is wonderful and the deck spacious with beautiful flowers and a comfortable table and chairs and umbrella. Holly enjoyed the yard and we enjoyed sitting in the sunshine on the deck. The pictures almost didn't do the cottage justice. It is cozy and spacious at the same time. My husband was able to get in and out of the cottage without any problem. There are very sturdy railings by the side door and deck. Even without using his cane he could manage the steps very well. Of course the comfort height toilets and grab bars in the shower made his stay quite comfortable. The owners were availble and helpful with anything we needed. They have been in Gulfport for a number of years and know the area very well. They gave us directions as well as shopping and restaurant suggestions. The city park has a wonderful walking track and is only a half block away. We made day trips along the gulf coast. We especially enjoyed Bay St. Louis with its many quaint shops. We also shopped the outlet mall in gulfport. We made a couple of trips to New Orleans. Since we were there for Mardi Gras, we enjoyed a couple of parades. My husband and I enjoyed several of the casinos and the owners directed us to the best and most reasonable buffets. Not only would we highly recommend the cottage, we are booked back there for 2 months in January and February of 2013. If you need accomodations for 1 day, 1 week of 1 month you will be very comfortable here.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for your review we are looking foreward to having you as neighbors this winter. One of the best parts of renting our cottages is meeting all the wonderful guests like you and Bob who have enjoyed their vacations here.

It was a nice cottage. There were two drawbacks for me, one of which could be fixed and one that can't. First, I didn't notice really the first night, but the second to fourth nights the train going by at all hours of the day and night got to be annoying -- especially around the 5 am time when it seemed to go by every 5 minutes. The second is the wifi. It didn't work in every area of the house, and the reception was spotty. I didn't have as much trouble with it on my laptop as I did my iPad, and I've never had an issue with my iPad receiving a signal before. It was nice being within walking distance to the beach, though.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners.
Owner response: I'm sorry you had a problem with the internet AT&T has been replacing their lines this summer and we had linemen here almost every day the first two weeks in August. The train tracks run the entire state aproximately 6 blocks from the coast so to enjoy the beach we have to put up with the trains several times a day.

Our family of three went to Gulfport for a relaxing vacation. The home our first impression of Gulfoport, and how our vacation was going to play out. When we opened the doors we found a comfortable home with everything needed to feel "right at home". The house was very clean and up-to-date. The amenities were fabulous. Out of the half a dozen condo/homes we've used in the past, this one was most memorable. Without a doubt, the home is an excellent place to stay and very fairly priced. The extra bonus for us was being able to bring our pets.Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.

This cottage was everything we hoped for and more! Clean, extremely comfortable, tastefully decorated, and we felt at home right away. Nancy and Steve were the ultimate in gracious hosts. It was our first trip to the MS coast, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We love the beach and were also able to take a day trip to New Orleans. We are planning to return and hopefully it will be soon! Thank you so much!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We were driving from Florida to Texas in two days and had the opportunity to stay at this little cottage. The accommodations were wonderful and included a jet tub, comfortable bed, kitchen with all cooking/dining supplies, and small back yard area for the dog. It was a very comfortable and relaxing break from two long days of driving. I wish we had more time to stay and explore the area. Highly recommend staying here!Recommended for: Pet owners.

About the owner: We are from Michigan and have been coming to the Mississippi Gulf Coast for Vacations for over 30 years. We consider this area one of the best kept secrets in the United States. The weather in the winter is very much like our Michigan summers. Our orginal home in Gulfport we bought in 1999 and after Hurricane Katrina we purchased this home to renovate and live in while working on our original home. We kept this cottage for our friends and family to stay in when they came to visit during the winter months. The area is very quiet as very few houses have been rebuilt since Katrina. If you are traveling with pets, children or just want to relax the area is wonderful.
Why the Owner Chose Gulfport:
We grew up along the shores of Lake Michigan and wanted to be near the water. The Mississippi Gulf Coast has 25 miles of sandy beaches. The area feels like a small town but has all the amenities of the city within 15 miles. I love to grow flowers and my husband likes to drag race and we can do both all winter in Gulfport. Most important is there is no snow to shovel in the Winter.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
We are concert lovers and car show people and there are plenty of both here every weekend. If we want to go to New Orleans for the big Mardi Gras Parades or catch a cruise ship for a week we are only 80 miles away.
