Chesapeake Bay Beach House - Beach Front and Endless Bay Views
- Minimum stay:3 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
Nestled under towering pines and surrounded by an acre of evergreens, we peer out east across the endless and beautiful Chesapeake Bay. The 180 degree view is breathtaking from our private beach, grand porch, or any room in the house. The sunrise is spectacular and nature's beautiful colors change throughout the day.
Whether you're ready for action or much needed relaxation we've got it all. Kids and adults will love the sand and surf just 80 feet from our door. The shallow and protected water makes all kinds of water activities possible - in a safe environment. Land lovers can be equally active by biking or hiking the country roads that wind around the many creeks, inlets, and other tributaries. And everyone can enjoy our many outdoor and indoor games.
You R&R-types are in luck too. Choose to snooze on the porch or the bayside hammock - the views are both outstanding if you can stay awake. Read a good book. We have many and welcome exchanges. View distant merchant ships, Tangier Island, the Bay's only private lighthouse, and a vast array of waterfowl using our binoculars and telescope. Explore historic Reedville, once considered one of the wealthiest towns in America. The 19th-century mansions will astound you. A fisherman's museum, antique shops, and fine restaurants are also popular attractions.
Save some energy for the evening. Cookouts are a must, particularly on the expansive porch and outdoor dining area. Enjoy your dessert bayside while sitting around the firepit. The s'mores, songs, stories, and stars seem all the better by the water's edge.
Our home is a classic southern-living design aptly named 'The Carolina House' due to its predominant use among Carolina country elite. It boasts a grand front and back porch perfect for entertaining and relaxing. The floorplan is open and airy with an emphasis on bay views. The kitchen and eat-in area are the hub of indoor activity with a spectacular 180-degree Bay view. All three bedrooms have their own full bath.
Our additional detached guest house is now available. It has a bedroom, bunkroom, game room, full bath, kitchenette, and sleeps 6. It is strictly for use by whomever is renting the main house and will not be rented separately to another party.

What a wonderful home in a truly special setting. The location is incredible– it felt as if we were at the ocean, with our own private beach. Every room in the house has a fantastic view of the Bay. The sunrises were amazing, and we also enjoyed watching the light change over the Bay as the sun was setting. We had 8 people from 3 generations, and the house was very comfortable for our group. Everyone found their own space with no trouble. The furnishings and décor were nice and the house was very clean. The kitchen was very well-supplied for all our needs. The guesthouse where my sister and brother-in-law stayed was roomy and just perfect for them. It had its own sitting area, tv, full bath, and a kitchenette with mini-fridge - so they were set! The adults enjoyed the breezes on the porch and in the shaded Adirondacks by the fire pit. The setting is very peaceful and relaxing, but there was plenty to keep everyone as busy as they wanted to be! My 8 year-old granddaughter loved the fire pit, s’mores, kayaking, swimming, and building sandcastles on the beach. My daughter’s family also enjoyed riding the bikes into Reedville and stopping at the ice cream shop for a treat. The golfers in the group had a great day at the terrific public course nearby. There were horseshoes, croquet and other lawn games, as well as a lending library and family-friendly games. We all enjoyed a few nights out at the restaurants that are within minutes of the house, but our favorite nights were spent having cookouts at the property. We had a crab feast one night that we will never forget! We truly enjoyed every minute of our time at this home. We look forward to our next stay!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

This was our second visit to this beautiful home. We were equally as pleased the second time around. We have stayed in a number of oceanfront/bayfront houses and this is the one we will return to. The owners have made their home an oasis both inside and out. We love how clean, well equipped and spacious this home is. The yard offer a spectacular view of the bay and we spent lots of time just watching the beauty in front of us. One of our favorite things on this last visit was sitting around the firepit. The night was chilly, the fire was warm and the s'mores delicious. Imagine five adults from three different generations relishing the time we had together. We hope to come back next year and bring our first grandchild! We have found our vacation home. PS. Tommy's restaurant in Reedville is great!Did you find this review helpful? My husband and I recently stayed at this house for a few days of quiet and relaxation; it was that and more! The back porch and hammock were perfect for reading or snoozing in the sun, and we used the fire pit several times to roast hot dogs and make s'mores. The surrounding houses and downtown Reedville were very quiet (given the time of year we went, I imagine), and the only problem we ran into was finding a restaurant to eat at that was still open during the off-season! We highly recommend this house for anyone wanting some time away from reality to listen to the ocean waves and soak in the view!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

we stayed with our girls (7 and 6 years) and our boy (2) for two weeks in July. The day began with a breakfast with a view, including dolphins and ospreys. The beautiful deck with the comfortable seating was our favorite spot - perfect view, kids on the lawn, playing horseshoe or ball or just enjoying themselves and always a breeze going. The beaches are great, too - both our girls used the ocean kayak - very first time for them and they had so much fun! All five of us could kayak together with the bigger ones provided - just wonderful. In the evenings we grilled and dined outside and had marshmallows at the fire place with the wonderful view over the bay. The interior is very tasteful, too - only that we spent most of our time in the garden or at the beaches. We highly recommend that place if you are looking for a relaxing outdoor vacation, especially with young children.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We have two young toddlers and wanted to visit Virginia. Your house and property was the perfect getaway! The girls loved the kayaks, water, private beach, kids playground, their " bedroom" , fire pit for s'mores. You had ample toys and things to do! Thanks again!Recommended for: Families with young children.

My husband, daughter and I had the most relaxing time at your place. We loved kayaking, fishing, swimming and relaxing in the hammock and on the porch. Our bed was very comfortable in a big room with a beautiful view of the water and sunrise. Clean, clean, clean! I have been to many rentals over the past 10 years and this home is by far the cleanest, home-away-from-home feel, relaxing place we have ever been at. We will definitely plan on coming back, next time with extended family. We love that you offer a cottage for larger groups. We also have to mention the Crazy Crab restaurant, .....we went twice for their large portion crab legs and great atmosphere. Bill, you really have a gem on the Chesapeake, thank you for sharing your gem with us!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 8/8

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2011
About the owner: We are Northern Virginia natives who love the outdoors - particularly the beach and mountains. We enjoy short excursions to B&Bs and wineries. We are high-energy, sports-oriented but crave down-time too. Our hobbies include building sandcastles, building sandcastles, and building sandcastles!
Why the Owner Chose Reedville:
Our friends bought a waterfront home just south of us 6-years ago. We loved visiting them and eventually found our dream home in the fall of 2011. This is our idea of paradise. It feels like we're at the ocean and deep in the Carolina woods at the same time. It is an easy and beautiful commute through rural farmland and rustic old towns. There are so many things to see and do in a wholesome, family-friendly environment.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We enjoy our private beach more than anything. Whether beachcombing, romping in the water, or just relaxing you can't beat the setting. Our view of the Bay is equally spectacular whether you're down on the beach, nestled in a recliner on the porch, or making a meal in the kitchen. Playtime is endless and the days seem too short. Nightime is fun too. And everything revolves around the entire family having a good time - together.
