Went to fulfill one of my bucket list items to see Yellowstone Park. Thanks to uncaring government park was closed. Thanks to Patricia and Ward's hospitality and great bunkhouse we had a wonderful stay. Bunkhouse was very clean, comfortable and well stocked with necessary items. Beautiful view and very quiet. Highly recommend the bunkhouse.

Location, location, location, always the most important consideration, right? Not this time. Here at the Bunkhouse there is another element equally important. Ward and Patricia are unparalleled hosts. And their support staff of Buck, Jake, Paint and Traveler can't be beat. The accommodations are exceptional and perfectly fitted for this beautiful territory. Best place we have ever stayed and we hope to return.

The cabin was a perfect place for our Yellowstone trip. It was clean and comfortable and very well equipped. The most well equipped rental property that we have ever stayed at! The ride from the Cabin to the entrance to Yellowstone was awesome. Patricia and Ward were excellent hosts. We could not have asked for more!

My wife and I were celebrating our 30th anniversary and we could not have picked a nicer place to stay between Cody and Yellowstone. The cabin was wonderfully decorated, clean and cozy. It had everything we needed and more. Patricia and Ward were delightful hosts and were more than happy to make recommendations on experiences to be had in Cody when we inquired. This was one of our favorite places to stay during our 2 week trip and would be the place we would want to stay again if we return. I am not a seasoned traveler and a little nervous about renting places sight unseen but we hit a home run on this one! Thanks Patricia and Ward for a wonderful stay.

The "Bunkhouse" owned by Ward and Patricia Akins was the perfect place for our first trip to Yellowstone. The cabin had every imaginable amenity. This is great when you want to minimize trips to the grocery store for this and that. This and that were already there, as was very comfortable furnishings, fully equipped kitchen, satellite TV and stereo, state of the art workout room, and the coziest front porch ever! Ward and Patricia are terrific, providing lots of inside info about the park, Cody, where to take the best trail ride, and where to buy the best steaks and ribs in town. The property is a beautiful 81-acre horse ranch, complete with shady trees, friendly dogs, and a babbling brook that lulls any trace of stress away. Being equidistant from Cody and the eastern entrance to Yellowstone, everything was convenient. The drive from the ranch to the park is the most scenic highway we've ever traveled. We travel a lot and are accustomed to staying in fine places. This exceeded our every expectation. Can't wait to get back!

We visited the bunkhouse for three wonderful nights. It's location is excellent, next to one of our favorite wild places...the Shoshone national forest and within close range of Cody and Yellowstone national park. The bunkhouse was perfect! It was immaculate, beautifully appointed and beyond comfortable. We wanted for nothing (except to stay longer!) The property owners were absolutley wonderful people. They were kind, warm, generous and extremely knowledgeable about the area. We can't thank them enough! Our two girls aged 6 and 8 loved the horses and the two friendly dogs. It was hard to pull them away from the outdoors (a problem I loved having). We went on a horse trail ride, saw the Cody Rodeo, knocked around Cody, splashed in the Shoshone river and sighted a grizzly bear. We even had to stop for a horse drive...a beautiful scene with the mountains as a backdrop. Even though our trip found us in various parts of Yellowstone, our stay at the bunkhouse was by far the best part of our trip to Wyoming! We are missing it already. We will be back!

My family LOVED staying at the bunkhouse! The location was so wonderfully quiet and away from all the tourist noise, yet only 25 minutes away from Cody. I travelled with my husband and boys 8 and 12. My boys loved the horses, dogs and creek! They even asked when we can go back and stay again. The beds were wonderfully soft and the kitchen has all the amenitities we needed to prepare a few meals. The porch was inviting with a wonderful view. We used it every morning to have our coffee and read. We highly recommend this location to anyone travelling nearby!

We've stayed in many VRBO's over the years, and this has been our favorite. Patricia and Ward have considered every detail to make this a great home away from home. They are a wonderful couple that made our stay exceptional. The "bunkhouse" was exceptionally clean and very well appointed with everything you need. This is a great base location for seeing the greater Yellowstone area or just a great location to relax and sit by the stream that runs through the property. Beautiful, quiet setting in the Wapiti Valley. We will definitely stay here again when we return to the area.

There are no words to express the hospitality that Ward and Patricia provided us during our stay at their Bunkhouse. We had an amazing time touring Cody and even better time enjoying the scenery of the Shoshone mountains - right outside the cabin! I would highly recommend this place for a vacation. We only stayed two days but I could have stayed a week! There was more than enough room for 4-5 people even though we had 2. It was the right distance between Cody and Yellowstone. We toured the city (ask Ward) and enjoyed the Rodeo, Gunfight, Dam, Museum and ate at some great restaurants. You could drive all day but we decided to stay at the cabin for one evening to enjoy the wilderness.

We arrived at the bunkhouse on our sons birthday and spent the next three days exploring Yellowstone. The bunkhouse exceeded our expectations and just looking at the pictures again makes us "homesick" for our fun vacation there! The cabin was so homey and comfortable with all the necessities of home. The beds and everything about the cabin was welcoming and comfortable. If we are ever in the area again we will definitely visit the bunkhouse again. Our sons even enjoyed the dogs and petting the horses. I would definitely recommend the bunkhouse to anyone looking to stay in the area!

                      Owner info

                      Year Purchased: 1998

About the owner: Ward & I (Patricia) have been retired for several years.Ward is an avid skier and I have a great woodworking shop but we also have 3 horses and a mule and try to spend as much time as possible on horseback.

                      Why the Owner Chose Cody:
Ward , in his working life, was a corporate pilot and visited Cody many times during his career. He loved this area so much that you told himself that he would retire here. I visited Cody in 1981 with my son and also fell in love with this area. We met in Atlanta many years and married.

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
One of the best things about waking in the morning is the beautiful view. The creek runs between our cabin and YOURS and it sounds so wonderful when you get ready for sleep. We have 81 acres and enjoy having our horses at our home.
