The Oakland was built in 1927 and was first known as Mendelson's Resort, and then later as The Oakland Resort. This is the resort that Clark Gable vacationed at in the '30s. Antique memorabilia of the period is displayed throughout the home.
The Oakland South has over 2200 square feet of living space with soaring ten foot ceilings, original refinished millwork trim & windows, and solid wood doors with antique transoms.
This is three bedroom home (one queen, one full, and two sets of bunk beds) which very comfortably sleeps eight, with two full sized baths (perfect for two couples and four children). If an additional bed is needed, there is a new queen size sofa sleeper in the den.
The Oakland South was renovated by a professional interior designer to provide you with all the modern conveniences while maintaining the comfortable feeling that a classic Lake Michigan resort should. The location is ideal! With views of Lake Michigan from the entire front of the house (directly east of the North Beach public beach) and views of the harbor from the back of the house, you will always know that you are at the lake. Sit out on the front patio with a cool drink and watch the sun set on the lake - you won't want to leave!
The North Beach of South Haven is one of the finest public beaches in Southwest Michigan. The huge wide and deep beach of sugar sand has all the amenities you could hope for: clean concession stand, clean restrooms, playground equipment, picnic tables, and volleyball courts. The best part about this beach, however, is the fact that there are absolutely NO stairs to climb! Anywhere!! |
