  Not only was the property amazing and well maintained, but it was better than described in this listing. Lynne and Bill were friendly and inviting. I really would have paid more for such an excellent experience. We saw a couple of whales from the deck and did a lot of walking around, checking out the neighborhood. My recommendations for staying in Milolii: 1. Know that you are in a fairly remote part of the Big Island. Stores and restaurants are quite a drive away, so plan on bringing food to cook. The kitchen in this house is amazing. 2. The drive off the main road is very steep downhill, rent an appropriate vehicle with good brakes! We rented the Jeep Liberty which was very wise given all of the volcanic areas we explored. 3. Make the drive down to Green Sands. Know that it's a 45 minute hike (over lots of rocks) that is SO worth it. Bring appropriate shoes & beach wear, but plan to spend at least $10 person for the shuttle back to your car unless you want to hike back. 4. Drive down to Milolii Beach Park, park and hike the 20 minute trail to Honomalino Bay. It's a gray sand beach that is fairly private (you'll have to find the trail among all the KEEP OUT signs). Bring snorkel gear and check out the reefs on the south side of the beach! My boyfriend proposed to me at this location on Christmas morning and it was perfect! 5. This is for travelers looking for a real Hawaii experience. This is not a resort area or over run with tourists in any way. Be prepared to relax and explore!

  We absolutely loved our visit. The house was pristine. The deck allowed for a beautiful view of the sunset, star-gazing after dark, and the location was set apart from the Kona tourist crowd (which we loved). The location really felt like authentic Hawaii. Water access was minutes away and had the very best snorkelling on the island. Our favorite beach, Honomalino, was just around the corner. Bill and Lynn were incredible hosts as well. We really couldn't have asked for more.

• Gorgeous and quiet

  This is a truly gorgeous house, comfortable and decorated with care. It is located in a very quiet area, perfect place to recharge your batteries. We didn't have to think about anything there, the owners already thought about it for us! Just enjoy the magic of Big Island during the day, use the bbq to make dinner and slide into the jacuzzi before going to bed. Plus, there is a little vegetable and herb garden around the house; I enjoyed using the locally grown basil and rosemary! I will have unforgettable memories of this too short stay in Hawaii, including spinner dolphins, turtles, manta rays and countless other colorful fishes. Great place.

  Our family stayed here in November 2012 and it was fabulous. As in, they should be charging more for this home, fabulous. We even extended our stay by three nights because we felt so comfortable. My husband and I, and children ages 6 and 8 slept and fit well in this home. The children had separate beds in separate locations so they could actually sleep and not wake each other up too early. This house has two levels, making it ideal for families or couples who would like some privacy from each other. The kids stayed downstairs, while we stayed upstairs. The home and area is wonderfully quiet, and the beds were comfortable. This home is very modern, with a dishwasher, beautiful decor and large, luxurious bathrooms. Our home in New Mexico feels like a shack in comparison! Every night we barbequed and relaxed in the hottub. MIlolii has a wonderful lagoon for children, and Honomolino is only a 15 minute, beautful walk from the Milolii beach park. Fishing is exceptional in this area. Be sure to stock up on food and drinks, because the nearest store is in Ocean View, a 20 minute drive. This area is very convenient to south point sites. South Point is only a 30 minute drive; Punaluu (Black Sand Beach that always has turtles) is only 45 minutes, and the volcano is about one hour. We don't like cities and even Kona feels too big for us. This home is perfect for those wanting modern comforts, off the main grid. We left completely rejuvinated, relaxed and refreshed.

  This home was amazing! I will be coming back to Hawai'i just to stay here again! The home was beautiful and the hosts were equally as accommodating. We walked in to find an aroma of fresh lilies lacing the rooms on both floors. Everything was immaculate. The wireless worked great, the grill was ready to go, and there was even a binder with maps and things to do in the area. Lynne and her husband were so helpful and so kind; we felt so comfortable. In addition, the views are incomparable. The sunsets are breathtaking and you can hear the waves as you doze of to sleep every night. This is the place to stay on Big Island. Many thanks...and we can't wait to return! (next time...one week minimum)

  This home in Milolii is very clean and nice. The snorkeling right down the way is amazing and is as good as anywhere else we have snorkeled. The owners are very nice and helpful. No matter where you stay on the Big Island, everything is a long drive, but this tiny community is quiet and relaxing and we would recommend staying here versus a hotel. The balcony upstairs is awesome and the spa relaxing. The only thing that I would have liked was twin beds in the downstairs bedroom, but for two couples, it would be perfect!

  Recommended for: Age 55+.

  Written in our guest book on May 7, 2012. Don and I would like to thank you for a wonderful stay in Milolii. It was so nice to find fresh flowers and fruit when we arrived. Your house is very comfortable, my favorite spot is the upstairs lanai with the great view of the ocean. Relaxing in the spa in the evening was the best. We will recommend your home to our friends.

  Our family had a great experience in Milolii and at this house rental. The house is set up for relaxing. The open air bar and spa made the house really seem like a vacation destination. My husband and I had the whole upstairs to ourselves with our two children in the downstairs, a perfect set up. It would also work well for two couples. A short two walk block to the bay where we went snorkeling, and swimming with the dolphins which you could see from the deck along with the whales. It was great to just relax in Milolii all day or know we could come back after visiting the rest of the island. So much better than a resort.

  This property is a new home with everything you could possibly need. The owners were very nice and easy to work with. This property was extremely clean and comfortable, it truly felt like home! My family had the most wonderful time getting away from it all. No crowds or craziness, and yet visited so many of the beautiful areas and attractions that the Big Island has to offer. The nearby black sand beach is to die for, the snorkeling right next to the house is amazing and watching the sunset while in the spa were just a few of the highlights. If you are looking for a place to relax and get away from it all, look no further, this is the place! We can't wait to return to our home away from home. I am sure you too will enjoy it as much as we did.
