The Red Grouper is a one bedroom, one full bath floating house located at Stock Island Marina Village. With direct access to the Atlantic Ocean, it's the perfect way to experience Key West by water. Bring your boat and tie up to the Red Grouper, or just enjoy the ocean breeze from the deck or roof-top viewing area. The interior has been recently remodelled with new furnishings and artwork, and the bedrooms and bathrooms are equipped with luxury towels and linens. We have a gym and a dog park at the marina that are also available for your use. Enjoy all the comforts of home with the atmosphere of maritime living!
Stock Island is located just over the bridge from Key West, about a 15 minute ride to Duval Street. It's close enough to enjoy all the action of downtown but kick back in a more laid back atmosphere. Stock Island Marina Village is home to a colorful and friendly array of live-aboards and commercial fishermen, giving you a unique 'Old Key West' feel. And we're pet friendly!
Stock Island Marina Village: Stock Island Marina Village is a multi-use Marine Community located in historic Safe Harbor and serving live-aboard, recreational, and commercial vessels. We offer free wifi internet, use of our new gym and dog park, laundry facilities, and daily trash pick up. Our office is open 7 days a week, and we have security on site after office hours so you can feel safe during your stay. Our residents are very friendly, courteous, and knowledgable of the area, and the docks are a great slice of Key West life.
Stock Island: In 2007, the New York Times said, “The real Key West? It’s not even located on Key West proper anymore, but just over the Cow Key Channel Bridge, on the even tinier Stock Island.” Home to a diverse group of residents and business (and boats), Stock Island is a little quieter than its neighbor Key West, but still close enough to experience all Key West has to offer. Named after the livestock that used to call it home, Stock Island has a unique commercial history. The docks that currently house the Red Grouper were once lined with hundreds of fishing and shrimping vessels. With easy access to the Atlantic Ocean, proximity to Key West, and old island culture, Stock Island’s a great place to relax and experience the Florida Keys!

My wife and I absolutely loved our stay at the Red Grouper. The accomodations were great and the staff made us feel like home. The sunrises and sunsets were gorgeous from the floating deck or top deck. The Blue Angels welcomed us with a few flyovers when we arrived as the air show was going on that weekend. We were hoping to see the manatee but we did see a few tarpon (we thought it was a shark) surface a few times during the week. We did most of the tourist stuff and ate at Margaritaville, Sloppy Joes and the Hurricane Hole (catch of the day was red grouper...mmm). We rented bikes and rode all over the island. We enjoyed the pristine beach at the state park and plan on spending more time there next year! Did I say next year? Oh yea, we're coming back! Thank you Stock Marina staff and management for a great week at Key West! Owner response: Sure are glad you had such a wonderful time and can will be very happy to have you again.

We stayed in the Red Grouper over spring break and had a fabulous time. The house boat was clean and had everything we needed for a successful vacation. We sat on the top deck as well as the deck off the back of the boat. We rented bikes from the Recycle bike shop just down the street and enjoyed several lunches at Hurricane Hole. It was an easy bike ride to Duval Street and all of the sights of Key West. If you are looking for a quiet vacation spot The Red Grouper is for you! We are already planning our trip for next spring.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.
Owner response: We are so happy to hear you enjoyed your stay aboard the Red Grouper and can not wait to have you back for another vacation. Thank you for your review, take care.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Red Grouper! It is well situated for easy access into the sites & sounds of Key West, but is a wonderfully quiet retreat from the crowds. The photos & description were perfect... it was exactly what we were expecting and hoping for. In fact, I felt the main living area was larger than the pictures suggest, which was nice. Restaurants and grocery stores are all very nearby, so we enjoyed a great mix of dining out and cooking for ourselves. Our 2 favorite restaurants were right there on Stock Island - Hogfish Bar & Grille and Hurricane Joes. The sites and sounds of the marina were wonderful... lots of bird watching and even a visiting manatee. One of the fishing guides at the marina called us over when he turned on fresh water for the manatee to drink... it was an awesome 'show'! Loved the back dock and the upper deck for coffee in the morning and sundowners in the evening... the sunsets were beautiful!! We loved the gentle rocking of the boat, but anyone prone to motion sickness should be aware that it is always moving a bit. I hope to have the opportunity to return to Key West and stay at the Red Grouper.... it was the perfect vacation.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: We are thrilled you had such a great time aboard the Red Grouper. Thank youfor your feedback, we hope to see soon back in Key West.

Coming from dry New Mexico, we wanted to be surrounded by water. The Red Grouper was perfect for us. It was very clean, organized, pet friendly for our small dog, a fishing delight, not to mention the beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Each night the houseboat rocked us to sleep. And it was lots of fun to watch boats coming in and out of the harbor. This is a working harbor so we saw all kinds of boats, people, and activity. The owners are going the extra mile to make Stock Island Marina Village a fun unique experience. We hope we can return someday. And yes, it is a very quick bike ride to Key West.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our trip was delayed due to Tropical storm Debby. But once we were able to arrive we Loved everything about the Red Grouper! We have been traveling to Key West for over 20 yrs and really enjoyed the experience of staying on a houseboat! Our favorite thing to do was watch the sunsets from the rooftop. Also getting to party the Green turtle neighbors was awesome. Thanks for the Tequila! Cant wait to stay again!!Owner response: Gald you had such a wonderful time, we sure enjoyed have you stay with us. Thank you for the positive comments. Please think of us for your next trip to Key West.

My wife, my brother in law, our dog Tux and I all had a great time. We caught plenty of fish from the kayak and the red grouper. There is always something interesting to see in the marina and in Key West near by. Bring or rent some bikes or mopeds. Wish we could have stayed longer. Too bad there is no special rate for a month or longer. Note: The max stay is set at three weeks.Owner response: Thank you for your positive commets, we sure enjoyed having you. We will be looking in to longer term rentals for the future, please keep us in mind for your next trip to Key West.

My husband and I stayed on the Red Grouper while visiting family in Key West and we loved it! The condo was very clean and well maintained, and very cute and cozy. We felt right at home! And great customer service! Anytime we had a question or concern, someone was always available immediately. I was also very happy with the quality of the A/C since we visited in the summer. It kept the place real nice and cool after a long warm day of sight seeing. I only wish that the condo included some fishing poles or beach gear, since we had to buy our own at the local kmart for a one week trip. The thing we loved most was being right on the water! My husband would fish off the dock every day. He even caught a shark and barracuda off the dock! We made use of the full kitchen and outside grill and had shark ceviche and steaks one night and had barracuda for dinner another night. We also used the kayak that comes with the rental for transportation to my in-law's sailboat and just to have fun in the marina! It is not within walking distance to Key West, but we rented a two person scooter for the week and it was so much fun! One of the few places in the US where travel by scooter is so popular, I would highly recommend it! I would also recommend trying the Hogfish Bar and Grill! It is within walking distance (or a very short scooter ride), and is one of the most popular restaurants in Key West. The coolest thing we did in Key West was the trip to the Dry Tortugas National Park on the Yankee Freedom Ferry. It is a long boat ride, but includes breakfast, lunch, drinks, and snorkel gear. If you have a full day, I would recommend this short trip over any other attraction - it is well worth the money! Overall, great place to stay and one of the best trips I've taken! We will hopefully be back again to stay on the Red Grouper!Owner response: Glad to you hear you had such a great time on the Red Grouper. We look forward to seeing you again.
