Very enjoyable week....home is very private, calming, peaceful. Short walk to the beach, private pool....very comfortable, spacious master suite, a well equipped kitchen and convenient location. Short drive to wonderful places for seafood. The stairs can be tiring, but we tried to consider them exercise to work off all the seafood we consumed.

Your Cape Palms house was super comfortable, but what I loved most was looking out to the Gulf through tall pines and palms! If we hadn't been exploring and beach walking every waking hour I would have happily read, snacked, and maybe napped on the highest deck off the living room. It was crazy beautiful out there in the sun and breeze---even when we turned the lower deck into a workout space. The house felt protected from one day's high winds, yet we could be walking the surf line in minutes as sunset approached. Getting to everything we wanted to do or buy nearby was a cinch, too. Thanks!

Thanks so much for making our siblings getaway so comfortable and relaxing. The tastefully casual, cheery and super-clean decor inside was a perfect contrast to the natural wonder we saw all around us -- pines, palms, birds, butterflies, and more! Whether we were hanging out on the decks, or just gazing out the windows from the dining room, it was like being a bird looking through the tree tops at the sparkling ocean! With such a short walk to the beach, it was easy to just grab a cocktail, run out to watch the sun set and be back to the house in time for dinner. Speaking of which, the kitchen was very well equipped and your suggestion on the Indian Pass Raw Bar was another great dinner. I'm sorry we didn't get a chance to try out the bikes or use the pool, but we sure took some really nice long walks on the beach and along the new bike path. With all that fresh air, good food and a great memory foam bed, I had no trouble sleeping. Maybe it was the blizzard predictions last week, but our winter get-away to Cape San Blas was just the ticket for my siblings and me. I'm sure we'll be back to Cape Palms -- with our spouses, kids and friends next time. Thanks!

Our stay at Two Palms was absolutely perfect and we'll be back - the location feels private and set back just far enough from the beach to avoid the constant wind but still enjoy the view. The house is completely up to date, well appointed for every need, and truly feels comfortable - as if it's it your own place! The decks on each level have a great mix of sun and shade, again with a sense of privacy. And then there's the pool - a respite in the morning with a cup of coffee, or after sundown after a great day on the beach. The owners have a great property and were terrific to work with - you will be so glad you chose this place to stay on your visit to Cape San Blas, whether as a family get-together or a group of friends. Two Palms - our favorite so far!

Property was absolutely as described, if not better. My family and I stayed 2 weeks in this house, and it was such a wonderful stay! From the top floor porches, we had a very nice view of the ocean and then we could also see a few glimpses of the bay as well. Plenty of room for large families or groups. The private pool is a great amenity that this property offers. This house is a short walk to the beach. We had a 2-year old and we didn't have any problems with the short-walk (less than 2 minutes). This was the first time we stayed at the south end of the Cape and it was so relaxing that we may continue to vacation on the south end for our future stays. The beach is wider and it does seem as though you are in a more natural surrounding. The pine trees and dense greenery is a delight as you don't feel as though you are completely open to the sun. The layout of the house worked for my group as it gave us all some privacy at times. However, the flights of stairs did get tiring at times, but I thought of it as a way to work off all the food we were cooking at night. If you do have a small child, I recommend bringing at least one baby gate. The owners had supplied this house with pretty much everything you can think of to cook with in the kitchen. A considerable size pantry closet is in the kitchen as well that gives you plenty of room for (non-perishable) food. My family and I had a wonderful time! We hope to stay in this house next year as well! I definitely recommend this property!

Let's start with the great things: House is exactly like pics. Cute, comfy, the little pool is nicely screened in. The outdoor shower is in a great location. The kitchen is on the top floor, but we didn't mind that. This floor is a little warmer than the lower floor, but we actually liked that. Good water pressure, kitchen is stocked nicely with glasses, dishes, silverware, pots and pans, and a blender. The beach was all ours, we really enjoyed campfires and horseback riding. The camp the horses leave/return to is right by the house. Seashells are abundant, as are the dolphins-we saw them every night and swam with them one afternoon. No jellyfish during our stay. The Indian Pass Raw Bar is a treat and a throwback to old Florida. Dollar General has opened a market and is giving Piggly Wiggly a run for the money with lower prices, great selections, and excellent service. Our main issue with our stay was the 2' deep by 50' wide water we had to walk through for 5 days of our stay to get to the beach. Rain on Sunday evening and a defective neighborhood drain led to day after day of standing murky swamp water that blocked access to both beach pathways. After numerous emails to the owner, they initially apologized for the inconvenience and eventually they confirmed what we already knew-that the pump was not working. On Wed, the county and prisoners showed up and trenched and pumped the water out to the street. On Thursday, the walk to the beach was back to being dry. We requested a pro-rating ($50 per day for the inconvenience) of our stay, the owners never responded to the repeated request. Other neighborhoods were free of water two days after the big storm. I am not sure what else we could have done, if we had been in a hotel, we would have moved to another one that had resolved their standing water issue. We recommend Cape San Blas highly if you want a taste of old Florida and will return to the area, just not this neighborhood. While the owners are new, we did find out from other neighbors that the pump had not worked on previous occasions during heavy rains.

Owner response: 2012 Summer Season has brought record breakings amount of rain on Cape San Blas. This week in particular the heavy rain started on Sunday evening and rained solid into Monday. Many homes throughout the Cape had to deal with standing water throughout the week. The neighborhood road on which you walk to the beach has a low area where it T’s into the road backing the beach front homes. In cases of extremely heavy rain this area can retain water until the ground can absorb the deluge. Our neighborhood has a pump that is used in these extreme cases to remove the water faster but in this case the pump was not working properly and the water was not removed completely until early Thursday. The water was about 12 inches deep at the worst point and it was not something we as owners had any control over. From other owners on the street we understand this situation has occurred once in 2010, once in 2007 and once in 2004 and only happens following extended periods of very heavy rain and then when there are problems with the pump. This is not a common problem and the pump has been repaired. The flooding issue did not affect the enjoyment of our home, pool or the beach, but the renters did have to walk thru some water for a few days to get to the beach from our home. There is an alternate route to the beach through Salinas Park less than a block from our home one could choose to take that route but I’m sure there was probably standing water there also. Per our Management Company there was flooding all over the cape this week and many weeks this summer because of the heavy rain. These renters did not ask to be relocated to another property. Cape Palms has a unique setting with a very private pool and lanai, not an easily duplicated property on Cape San Blas. Sincerely Dawn & John Lounsbury

Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home, the pictures do not do it justice. We had plenty of room for everybody to spread out and the decks were wonderful as well. The neighborhood is so peaceful it felt like we were the only ones on the beach most days. The swimming pool was a huge hit with the kids, they really enjoyed the lights at night. Everything was well maintained and nicely decorated. The beach was very easy walk but we rented a Golf cart for the week which was very fun to ride to the park on and ride on the beach. Our dog had the best time as well! Thank you again, hope to come back next summer!

We were lucky to find Cape Palms as a place to rest and relax with our family. The website pictures accurately reflected the home and the location to the beach; it was a short walk - one block- to the beach and the street was very quiet. We had a great view of the ocean from the top level porch and loved being up at tree level as well. The pool was a great treat and was a perfect size to relax by and take a dip after being at the beach. The location of this home on the Cape is perfect. We have vacationed in this area multiple times, but this was our first time at Cape San Blas. The convenience to all the places we enjoyed, such as the St. Joseph state park (10 min- and bring snorkels, masks and water shoes for walk out snorkeling in the cove- you'll see fish in the grasses, hermit crabs, scallops, crabs, etc). Apalachicola is only 25 min, and Port St. Joe (10 min) have great shops and wonderful restrauants. Also, Indian Pass Raw bar is 5 minutes away and is a must for lunch or dinner - great oysters, shrimp, and crab legs. Being right next to Salinas Park was wonderful as we enjoyed the sunsets and sand volleyball court there on the bay. The beds were comfortable and all rooms have a sliding glass door to the porch, the kitchen is adequately stocked, and there were beach chairs and an umbrella in the storage area, as well as other sand toys. If you have young toddlers, bring gates, as there are three levels of steps in the home; our children are elementary and middle school age and loved the bunk beds, hammock, pool, porches, etc. The home was clean and everything worked properly. We hope to return and would definitely stay here again.

The place was even better than expected. We were pleasantly surprised by the layout, the very well accommodated kitchen, and the pool was such a treat to have an evening dip! The proximity of the beach access was nice and the verandas were a wonderful place to relax, read, or have a scenic meal! We offer our highest recommendation!

This new home's decor is tastefully colorful and has whimsical beach art throughout! When you go through the front door, you go up a flight of stairs to the master bedroom and the bunk room which uses comfortable, reg. size Serta mattresses (not bunkie boards). KitchenLots of photo ops here! This was our 1st visiting Cape San Blas & the "Forgotten Coast" area - lots of pine trees, palmetto bushes, & marsh areas on the bay and mainland side. Cape Palms is in a great location right off the mainland. It is next to Salinas Park which has on one side picnic areas, a volleyball court, deck looking over the marsh, screened in shelters, fire pit and a small playground that all appear relatively new. On the other side of Salinas Park is beach access with picnic tables and this is where you will go if you are horseback riding. Though there is beach access in the neighborhood, many times it was just as quick to go this way. Cape San Blas has a bike path running along side the main road & though we did not get a chance to ride them, the owners provide two brand new bicycles to use for that. They also have a new wagon, 4 beach chairs, a large beach umbrella (and even more that we didn't use), many beach toys & they are all located in a big storage room in the carport. The pool area is wonderful with the black lanai that lets all the light in. The pool is lit & also has coloful underwater lighting as well. There is a private outdoor shower with hot & cold knobs to rinse off with between the pool & the house so you can shake out the sand here easily. A barbecue grill is also provided. The neighborhood is very quiet, as is the whole of Cape San Blas. I suggest you bring some spray with you if you are prone to being bitten by bugs as there is a tiny insect I have never met before called a sand midge or "no-see-um" & they will go in the mouth, up the nose & sting through clothing unmercifully. Not sure if this is because of the marsh or what but folks say a spray with a high DEET concentration or Skin So Soft spray by Avon works - bites are much like those of mosquitoes. We mostly went to Port St. Joe for food & groceries. We ate at McDonald's & Joe Mama's Pizza (looks upscale inside & has AWESOME cheesecake!) We shopped at Piggly Wiggly & the Dollar General Market which also has food. You are entering a Wal-Mart free zone when traveling to Gulf County so pack accordingly! Bring garbage bags, too. If you have babies, bring a baby gate (many stairs)

This was one of our family's best vacations ever. The house was beautifully decorated and very well taken care of. It was spacious and comfortable and we loved how the trees surrounded us. The beach was just a short walk away and the pool was very nice as well. The owners thought of everything we would need and helped us out immediately when we needed it. Cape San Blas is a quiet area but this is what we look for in a vacation. We went to the Raw Bar which is just a short drive away and the State Park at the end of the cape which has nice beaches as well. Port St. Joe has some nice restaurants which are about 10 miles away. My kids loved all the shells on the beach, loved the hammock on the big porch, and loved having our dog run on the beach with them. Thank you Dawn and John for sharing your wonderful home with us.

I have been visiting the Cape for years and was always told to rent a home north of the rocks, but I have always missed the greenery. What a wonderful alternative setting at Cape Palms. In the Two Palms subdivision, which is before the large expanse of rocks along the road, Cape Palms was comfortable and beautifully decorated. The yard had two giant palms welcoming our arrival. The pool was fabulous and the lanai kept the mosquitos away :) This beach is soooo much nicer than the north part of the Cape! It evokes such a peaceful, serene feeling walking along the sandy path through the pine trees, and sea oat grass. I loved it! Will definitely come back. Thanks !
