O'Duffy's Pub & Cosmo's Cucina View on map
This place delivers! Cosmo's is awesome for any meal, but breakfast is my personal favorite. It's located on the second floor and feels like a tree house and boasts one of the best outdoor seating places in town. O'Duffy's Pub is on the main floor and is as charming a Pub as you'll find in the midwest! The Pub menu is great, but if it's not your thing, no problem. You can order from Cosmo's menu too. It's owned by my friend, Jamie Kavanaugh, one of the nicest people you'll meet here. So, please introduce yourself and say you were sent by Kara.. You'll get the warmest smile you've ever seen : ).

Old Dog Tavern View on map
This place is where you'll find the locals in one of the most rustic and charming old buildings in town. There's good food, tap beers, ping pong, pool, live music and outdoor seating. It's owned by my friends Sean & Amy Smith. You'll know them when you see them because it looks like they walked off of a folk music album cover.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1996
About the owner: I am a Michigan native with an appreciation for historic homes, a passion for good design and a love for the planet. I moved to Kalamazoo from the Shores of Lake Michigan in 1990 to attend college. I remained in Kalamazoo because of the youthful energy, amazing people and an up and coming direction which has since been realized. In my spare time, when I’m not combing the earth for treasures to use in my Kalamazoo Bed and Breakfast, I’m exploring life with my husband, Dean. We enjoy participating in recreational sports, the company of our friends & family and traveling.. All while being responsible stewards of the planet. I’m also know around town as ‘The Painted Lady’, the proud owner of a painting, restoration and home improvement consulting business of 16 years called, Painted Lady.
Why the Owner Chose Kalamazoo:
This Unique, Kalamazoo Bed and Breakfast is a beautifully renovated, Italianate-style, three-unit home nestled in between three historic Kalamazoo neighborhoods and located on Kalamazoo College’s scenic campus.
All three private Kottages within this multi-unit house are furnished with all the necessities of home, including a well stocked kitchen, cozy living room, separate bedrooms and a spacious bathroom. Plus, all the warm touches you’d expect from a beloved B&B– like fireplaces, beds you melt into, European-style breakfast treats and even mini-bars.
Available for overnight, weekly or monthly rental, this Kalamazoo B&B is an ideal choice for business or pleasure.
The Unique Benefits at this Bed And Breakfast:
In practical terms: I have developed a space that is unique and ideal for today’s modern travelers who desire all of the comforts of home during their stay; A separate spaces within a home that allow for additional visitors, multiple guests and total privacy. All this, and on a heavily wooded lot with a great outdoor space in a safe and quiet, historic neighborhood near Downtown Kalamazoo.
This Extended Stay Bed and Breakfast allow for the flexibility of renting to 1-5 guests for 1-90 days while offering each guest every comfort of home no matter what their length of stay.
In Idyllic terms: Attractive, peaceful and picturesque.. In good design, this has always been my objective and this Bed and Breakfast is no exception. What you will enjoy most about each Kottage is the attention to detail, gorgeous design and little extras. This home reflects my vast experience, healthy outlook, connection to nature and strong work ethic.
This conveniently located, Kalamazoo Bed and Breakfast is within walking distance to Downtown Kalamazoo, bike paths, shopping, great restaurants, 2 Local Colleges and much more!
Kara’s Kottages is also unique in that there is not a live-in innkeeper. This detail gives my guests more privacy and autonomy during their stay, giving this B&B a vacation rental flavor.
