  everything was just great and we will be back at least once a year. the food, the location, the staff, the access to the suburban were all great. the owner was great to work with and i simply don't have a bad thing to say. as its stated, just bring your swimming suit and get ready to have a great time!

  Don't bother looking at any other homes to rent in the area - this is a gem and can't wait to go back. So happy friends had recommended it. The house has everything you need with the major plus of a car, airport pick up and drop off, and the two most lovely locals to take care of you: Rosa and Gilberto. Rosa and Gilberto Our mediocre travel Spanish was plenty good enough to get by (and they understood a bit more English than our Spanish so no real language barrier). And, they are both SO SWEET. Rosa is an amazing cook and will plan meals with you everyday (don't miss her chicken mole, baja fish tacos, and chile relleno!). She kept the house spotless and even did our laundry! Gilberto made killer fresh lime margaritas, ready for us every afternoon. He also kept the garden and patios swept clean and made sure the pool was crystal clear. Beach AND a pool My husband and I both surf so didn't think we'd use the pool but we were in it everyday. The ocean was really warm so it was a wonderful way to cool off. The Burros main surf break was a short paddle up (5 min. with our longboards) but you could also walk. We didn't hit a great swell so a few days we drove 5 min. to La Lancha surf break and enjoyed that a bit better. But if you didn't feel like getting in a car, Burros would do just fine. The house's beach was very clean and secluded. We only saw a few people early in the AM and out for walks at sunset. I laid in the hammock under the house's private palapa by the ocean all afternoon and red books. No hassles of vendors or other people. Hard to find that anywhere The House Plenty of room for a gang but we were perfectly comfortable - the house did not seem overwhelming with just the 2 of us (although 3 bedrooms went unused). Comfortable beds, beautiful mexican tile throughout, TV (didn't think we'd use but surprisingly the SF Giants were in the World Series!). No issues with plumbing, electricity, etc. Note: a given in the tropics, bring bug repellant for sunrise/sunset. Central location We were so happy at the house we didn't get out much. We drove to Sayulita (a little too touristy for us but lots of shops and restaurants). Punta de Mita closer, smaller with shops/rest., PV not far if you need more action. Close to airport a big plus Kathy's a pleasure to deal with and makes sure you have all details about the house before you get there. We felt perfectly safe in the house and gated community. For a worry free trip, book this!

  We have been all over mexico and stayed in hotels and condos and prefer Casa de Abeuelas and Amigos in Punta Del Burro to anywhere else. We just returned from our third trip to this house and stayed for a wonderful two weeks. We LOVE everything about it. The staff is exceptional and personable, the house is immaculately cleaned, the food is tremendous and the relaxation superb! Rosa and Gilberto are a delight to have around and do everything they can to make your stay what you want it to be, including home prepared five-star meals. They even made virgin Pina Coladas for the kids without being asked. Las Distilideras beach is a 5 minute drive and is the best beach in all of the PV area. Sayulita for surfing and Bucerias and Punta Mita are delightful visits within 30 minute drive. The area is very safe and driving anywhere easy. I recommend this house to all of my family and friends and everyone else has come back with nothing but perfect reviews!

  This is our third time over 20 years, to return to Casa Abuelas for our anniversary. As always, we had a wonderful and delightful time. Gilberto and Rosa took excellent care of us. It is always a pleasure to be waited on and cooked for by such friendly and hospitable folks. Each night they asked us what we wanted for meals and the next day and we enjoyed delightful Mexican meals. They surprised us when they returned one morning with a bean cook pot and tortilla warmer that we had only hinted at wanting. However, they went above and beyond all expectations after our son came down with an ear infection from swimming and was in great pain. Rosa found a doctor who spoke English and Gilberto drove us there! We would highly recommend Casa Abuelas - the home, the beach, the car and the service are all delightful.

  I was checking the calendar of Casa de las Abuelas and noticed the negative review. I felt that I had to respond to it.. I have been going to Casa de las Abuelas for several years. It is absolutely my favorite villa, and I travel a lot. I have never felt unsafe. In fact, the opposite is true. The days and nights spent there are so restful that after a week or two, I am able to return to the "real world". Rosa nd Gilberto make you feel so special. They are kind, helpful and hard working. Everything is always in perfect shape. I enjoy working with the owner, Kathy. She really wants everone to have a trouble free trip and does all she can to make sure you do. I also noticed that all the other reviews are positive. If you are reading this, I would dismiss the bad review and believe the good ones. I know I will be returning to the villa this November.

  Our trip to Casa de las Abuelas could not have been better. Everything surpassed our expectations! It was a perfect place to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary and birthdays with our family. And, yes we felt perfectly safe as you indicated we would. Thank you for sharing your paradise with us. We loved swimming in the waves, beachcombing and relaxing in the pool. The hammocks are the best on the beach – what a special treat. Rosa and Gilberto were very gracious in all that they did to make the vacation perfect. You have done an incredible job of making your villa a best ever holiday destination, Kathy. We look forward to booking a visit again in the future – I know now why I will have to book well in advance!

  It is not a safe and secure house as advertised. We were robbed of valuable items while, we believe, we were out. When we told the person working in the house about the robbery, he was not surprised whatsoever. In fact, he continued doing what he was doing, shrugged his shoulders, and said it had been 'el dueño' (the owner) as they call this person that goes around Punta del Burro breaking into private property. I wonder if this has been reported before, or if they are all in on it. Once we realised we had been robbed (31st December at around 7pm) I asked for the owner´s number since she was the person I had the contract with and none of the people working in the house said they had it. Which, we thought, was very strange. Eventually a local manager gave us the contact number, but not without aggravation and delay. We felt completely unprotected and violated, and our New Year holidays were ruined. The fact is we did not feel safe, the idea that my kids had been sleeping downstairs with the house unlocked (we were never given a key) and that there was someone going around robbing, made us take the decision to leave immediately. We discussed this all with the owner and she said she would give us a full refund if we got off the premises immediately, which we did. Of course, she never did give the full refund as agreed! She gave us some money back but it took a long time coming and we had to chase repeatedly. There are expensive houses in the area but most of them either have very tall walls and/or VC security systems. So the area clearly isn’t safe or secure. We have rented many houses in Mexico and have never had an issue. The garden was not particularly clean, the pool was dirty and covered in sand (not to mention freezing but we were never told it was heated so I accept this). The chairs on the beach were filthy, the bit of sand right in front of the house covered in fag butts, plastics and other detritus, so you could not walk bare foot. Every other house has the sandy bit right in front immaculately kept. The couple working in the house were very often absent, driving their kids around (who were on holidays) in the car. I will definitely not recommend this place.

  Owner response: I want to respond briefly to this review. Without completely denying all that was said, I would like future renters to read the other reviews. I have dozens of references about the safety of the area and villa.The "expensive items" in question were 3 bottles of wine in the outside bar. Though this is regrettable, it does not mean that the villa is unsafe. When we talked, nothing but kind things were said about the house and staff. As for the doors, they all lock from the inside and the house key is on the key chain of the Suburban that is provided. My manager recommended that I not give a refund, but I refunded the unused stay, plus the cost of the wine. I felt this was more than fair.

  We spent 10 days at this property. Gilberto & Rosa are fantastic hosts. The property has a great location on the beach. (Not recomended water for small children, but great for surfing & boogie boarding) Very safe complex with 24 hour security. The beach fire pit is great and a good way to end the day. Most everything you need is there from hair dryers to kids toys.

  We just returned from a week at this location, and we will definitely go back. It is absolute heaven to stay right down on the beach; we started with our coffee by the water in the morning and ended the day watching the gorgeous sunset. The couple who do the cooking, cleaning, etc. are delightful. Rosa is a great cook; we only went out to dinner one night during our stay. We rented paddleboards and kayaks and spent our days in the water or lounging by the water. The gated neighborhood is secure and quiet, very low key and relaxing. This was a good value for the money spent and we look forward to returning next year. There is nothing like the sound of the ocean to lull you to sleep.

  Just returned from an extended weekend. Awesome location - quiet, safe, secluded neighborhood. The only thing between your door and the ocean is the beautiful pool. Short walk up the beach to a couple of great longboard waves. Consistent and mellow - great place for beginner and intermediate surfers with gentle, safe takeoffs, and long rideable walls. Rosa and Gilberto were delightful and Rosa is a great cook (request the chicken mole!) Stable and fast internet, HD TV set, stereo to plug you iPod into, AC, plenty of places to get away from your group for some quiet time, shaded hammocks right on the beach. It's hard to imagine anything the house is missing.
