This Architecturally significant home was the first collaboration between architects Albert Frey and Robson Chambers for Chambers' personal residence. The initial structure was built in 1947 and was later added on by Chambers. Perfectly sited, the home takes full advantage of the spectacular views of the San Jacinto mountains. Floor to ceiling glass seamlessly combines the interior space with the outdoor living areas unifying the spirit of one, large open entertainment venue. Photographed by Julius Shulman and featured in Mademoiselle Home 1950 and Architectural Record 1952. This property is a unique mid-century modernist home. It has gone through historic renovation and was refurbished by internationally published, interior designer, Sam Cardella. The renovation brought it back to its original design without compromise to its integrity. This property features two bedrooms, plus a sun room with a queen size foldout, a formal dining room and living room with 2 seating areas. This property is an incredible example of Frey and Chambers work. Special attention has been taken with the interior design and amenities to fit with the bones of the structure. Luxury linens, plush towels and a fully stocked kitchen make this ideal for the discerning traveler with an appreciation of architecture, style and design. The central location of this magnificent property puts it within minutes of the area’s many cultural, dining, entertainment, sports, hiking, biking, theater, downtown and shopping areas and clearly makes this home ideal for vacationing in Palm Springs. It is being offered on a limited basis for the discerning traveler that shares a passion and appreciation for architecture, history and style. This property is only being made available for 15 weeks out of the year.

We had a great week! Thank you for making our stay so nice. Our son learned to swim. The backyard was great for our two young kids. Media center up to date. Kitchen fully stocked with everything we could imagine needing. Comfortable mattresses and bedding. Oh and of course...the house...it's just cool to get to live in a place like this if only for a week. The property manager was prompt and helpful. He left some grapefruit juice ice cubes in the fridge to enjoy by the pool. He checked in by text midweek and told us about a street art fair. We took a day trip to Joshua Tree National Park and to the Indian Canyons (3 miles S of town). It's a beautiful area. Finally, we loved the convenient location and the privacy afforded by the property layout. The pool gets sun like it should most of the day. The streets are quiet and neighbors are situated way from the living areas and pool. Views of the mountains are spectacular (from the pool or poolside). The pool furniture is really comfortable. We couldn't have had a better week! Thanks again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

My husband and I have enjoyed vacationing in Palm Springs for years. Our preference for accommodations is always Mid-Century modern, whether it be a private home or hotel. Each trip we search, like Goldilocks, for that "perfect" home that personifies the ideal PS desert feel: the California dream, forever sunny skies, indoor/outdoor, poolside-cocktail, 24-hour bikini, delicious lifestyle. I am delighted to say that in discovering the Albert Frey/Robson Chambers 1947 home, our search is over! This home exemplifies each criteria we require for that perfect vacation. In and of itself, the home is a historic gem, lovingly restored and beautifully appointed. The furnishings are gorgeous and comfortable, the kitchen has all the tools that a chef needs to prepare food and cocktails, and the lighting in and around the property is perfect for all your family photo-op moments. The indoor/outdoor living at this property is divine: the pool is heated to the perfect temperature, the poolside furniture maches the mid century modern decor, there is a fire pit, a ping-pong table and lovely landscaping. We were well taken care of by Aames, the property's concierge, who left gifts at our door step (local fruits, morning paper and local publications). He provided any information we required about the surrounding area, or activities of interest. The home has a fantastic library of glossy, hard cover books that depict the Palm Springs life style, including history, photography, architecture. The home has an exceptionally private feel and we slept like babies every night. When we didn't feel like cooking, we took advantage of the surrounding area's restaurants. One can walk, run, ride or hike the local trails right from the house. It is right smack dab in the middle of Palm Springs and close to "down town". And one of best treats for us is that we were able to bring our dogs along with us.....a privilege that very few high-end rental properties offer. Without a doubt, this visit to Palm Srings, at this "Jewel Box Gem" was the best experience we have ever had to the desert.Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We stayed here for a week and have to say this house is exceptional. Well appointed with everything you need to relax either formally or casually. The owners have wonderful taste in art, books and furnishings -- it's good to see such an architecturally significant house in such thoughtful hands. A gorgeous pool, a ping pong table, palm trees, classic mid-century furniture -- just perfect! Aames, who serves as a concierge/manager for the property is a real dream -- friendly, hospitable, informative, prompt. We can't say enough good things about him or this home. What we can say for sure is that we'll be back! To stay at this home was a treat -- thanks for sharing your house with us!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

My husband and I were looking for a sophisticated, modern retreat in the desert, and this house met and exceeded all of our high expectations. It's furnished very thoughtfully, with beautiful pieces throughout. The fact that the original architecture has been preserved adds a very special element to the property, and you can tell great care has been taken by the owner to create an authentic environment. I would say the photos on the listing don't fully capture the house's special quality--we were delighted when we arrived. It's five minutes away from all the best places in Palm Springs, including great hikes, the Plaza Racquet Club, and numerous restaurants. The house manager is outstanding, and addressed the very few little things that came up quickly, smoothly, and effectively. I would recommend this house enthusiastically to anyone, particularly a couple or maybe a couple with one child. It's a serene retreat in one of the most relaxing destinations in the world.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway.

I stayed here for the month of July (yes, yes, I know, but I love heat!) and it was magnificent. The air conditioning and the pool took care of any overheating I may have been feeling, and the beautifully furnished rooms gave me a place to relax and watch the world outside when I wasn't out in it myself. I used the residence as my home office for the month, as well as entertaining a few friends passing through town on a weekend evening. It is convenient to everything...five minutes to the airport, one minute to Palm Canyon and Indian Canyon Drives, just down the street from the excellent Tlaquepaque Restaurant and close to a Ralph's market, a Rite-Aid, a True Value, the Spa Hotel Fitness Center (my gym away from home for the month) and every other amenity you could want. In cooler weather, it's all walkable. All of the linens, towels, dishware and other appointments are luxurious. The TVs in every room are large screen and work wonderfully. The lights all have dimmers so you can be as shadowy or bright as you like. Overall, the house and grounds are clearly lovingly tended by the owners and the property management is top rate. Will I return? You bet! You should, too!Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

This is truly a great vacation rental. We are very picky with our rentals and I rarely give 5 stars to anything. But this house is just totally cool, embodying the Palm Springs vibe perfectly. It is beautifully decorated (big plus for me: nice sheets + well stocked kitchen), has a great pool and is very close to the city action. We loved this house so much that after we booked it for a week during our kids' spring break we returned within a month when we had in-laws visiting from New York. Also, the property manager Rhenton Aames could not be more cordial, professional or helpful. He was always reachable and made us feel like we were at home. Highly recommend it folks!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
