Retro Retreat: Cozy, Moderne, Affordable House in Wine Country.
3 bdrm, 2.5 bath for the price of 2 bdrm 1 bath rental!! We are new, so we are offer low prices. Not sure how long these prices will last......
The Retro Retreat is a fabulous little house built in 1951 and recently updated for comfort and convenience with central heat and A/C. It is centrally located in a very quiet neighborhood just north of the town of Sonoma, with easy access to highway 12. We have a totally new kitchen with new cabinets, appliances and granite counter tops.
The main living room, kitchen and dining area is open, providing an extra large space for entertaining and relaxing with family and friends. A great space for celebrating holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, or just long weekends! One entire wall of the living room, dinning and kitchen area is glass, looking out on a covered patio and large back yard. The floor plan is ideal for two couples or a family. Two bedrooms, a full and half bath are in one wing of the house, another bedroom and full bath are in the other. The living room, dining area and kitchen are in the center of the house, providing complete privacy between the two wings.
The Retro Retreat is just minutes from the Sonoma Plaza (2.4 miles) for shopping and dining experiences, and within walking distance of the world famous Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa. In just a few minutes, heading North on highway 12, you will visit dozens of the best wineries California has to offer.
If you want to stay in after a day of wine tasting, dinner is a snap with provisions from Whole Foods or Sonoma Market. In addition to the new kitchen, there is a BBQ, dining table, chairs and lounge seating on the covered patio. Plus, staying at the Retro Retreat is a great way to save your $$, so you can splurge all that much more on Sonoma’s fine wines and dinning.
When you book with us, let us know if you like red or white, so we can greet you with a bottle of one of our favorite Sonoma wines.

Very comfortable for a small group of friends (1 couple+ 3 singles). This house was our jumping off point for visiting Napa and Sonoma, and wasn't really "close" to anything. It is in a neighborhood right off of a busy corridor, not really walking distance to much, but it was easy enough to find our way around with a GPS and car. The back yard was great and we even played croquet with the set provided. Overall, a great experience.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway.
Owner response: Our rental house is 2.3 miles from the Sonoma Plaza. Guests will need a car to visit the Sonoma Plaza, wineries and site see. The closest wineries are Valley of the Moon, Little Family, and BR Cohn, which are 3 miles away. There are over 50 wineries and tasting rooms within 10 miles. There is a ice cream shop, fruit stand, and a small number of restaurants within walking distance (quarter to half mile), such as Hot Box Grill, Mary's Pizza Shack, Big 3 Diner, a few taquerias and Sante Restaurant in the Sonoma Mission Inn. The house is east of the Sonoma Mission Inn, across highway 12. The house is in a quiet neighborhood. You cannot hear the highway noise, which is 0.2 miles away.

Thank you very much!! The house was clean and comfortable, and so well furnished for visitors. We had a wonderful time. We also really enjoyed the spacious patio and seating in the evenings. The house seemed to have easy access to get around the city of Sonoma, and to major wine trails. Thank you again, and the next time we visit California wine country, we know where we'll try to stay.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

David and Josette, you have done a wonderful job of making your vacation home inviting, comfortable and relaxing. The house was very clean and well-equipped and we had everything we needed.. We especially loved the beautiful glass wall along the back of the house that brought the outside in. Our two young grandchildren enjoyed the patio and backyard. The location was quiet and convenient to everything the Sonoma area has to offer. Thank you again for your hospitality and attention to detail. We hope to be back soon!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This is a wonderful place to stay after a hectic day wine tasting. You can come home to this really quiet neighborhood and kick back on the patio. If you've had enough wine, then try some lemon drops as there is a great lemon tree in the backyard! This house is very, very comfy, super clean and has a well-equipped kitchen -- complete with gas appliances!! Oh, and the owners are very easy to work with and very much on top of everything!! Will certainly stay there again!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

Just stayed at this adorable little house. This pictures do not do it justice! House was immaculate! Super clean and very well stocked. Have stayed at several rental homes and by far this one was one of the best. Such a welcoming backyard, quiet neighborhood. Some of the bedroom furniture is quite dated but it just made me wonder how old they were and how well they must be made to last so long. Beds super clean and comfy. Newly remodeled kitchen. Will stay here again - God willing. Thanks David and Josette!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We stayed here for a long weekend and had a great time. David was friendly and helpful and met us at the door when we arrived to give us a tour. The photos are quite representative of the house. The house is comfortable and clean, with three bedrooms. Two are in the front (and share a small bath with a shower), one is in the back (with its own full tub bath), and the center is an open plan living/dining/kitchen with a walk-in pantry. There is also a powder room/laundry off of the living area, which is quite convenient. The kitchen is off to the left of the dining table in the photo of the living room. We parked a minivan on-street in front of the house - if you have a very small car, you might be able to park in the narrow driveway. The front and back yards both have fences around them (useful for containing children). The house was well stocked - there were plenty of clean towels and extra blankets, laundry soap, dish soap, hand towels and potholders, as well as some travel size toiletries in case you forgot anything. This being wine country, there were lots of wine glasses, but also plenty of plates, cups, mugs, silverware, kitchen tools, and a coffee maker. We had a small child with us and the house worked well. There was enough room in one of the two front bedrooms for a pack and play with plenty of room to walk around it. It is not right in Sonoma, but a short drive to grocery stores and the Sonoma square, and we enjoyed visiting the ice cream shop on the main road nearby. We used this as a base for wine tasting and rock climbing at Robert Louis Stevenson State Park (about an hour+ away). Would love to return on our next visit to the area and would recommend this house highly!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.
Owner response: Jennifer, Thanks for your wonderful review. I am glad you enjoyed your stay. You were a wonderful guest and would have you back any time. I just have one small correction to your review. The front yard is not completely fenced in, so unfortunately it is not "useful for containing children", ( I like that wording :) but the house is on a very quiet street.

We had a fabulous time on our Girls Weekend to Sonoma and the house was perfect for us!! It has 2.5 bathrooms and mirrors in the bedroom, so we had plenty of "getting ready" areas for all of us girls! The kitchen was beautiful and allowed us to create a beautiful feast of food for all of us to have one night. The outside back porch is also beautiful. We will definitely rent again on our next trip down to Sonoma!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway.
