The Cottage on the Bay, my personal home away from home. This last weekend marked my 3rd time staying at Bud and Carol's quaint cottage and there's not much more I can say then, when are we going back? We stumbled onto this perfect vacation spot last year and loved every minute we were there, so much so, we reserved a weekend for my husbands 40th birthday 3 months later. We stayed away too long and just had a girls weekend/Mother's Day vacation this last time and I took my much deserving mom and daughter to experience this relaxing little gem on the bay. My mother of course fell in love and I wouldn't be surprised if she hounds me to book reservations for some other hoilday/birthday/made up day of celebration in the next few months. I love the cottage for so many reasons there's not enough characters on this review to go into all of them. So I'll try and hit on the most important to me. It's clean, very clean. It's decorated and comfortable and homey and makes me feel more relaxed then my own casa. Its close, an hour and a half and bam we're there. It's convenient, Sequim is small enough to be a sleepy little town but big enough to be entertaining and has all the ammenities one would need. The location is perfect for me to walk to the Discovery Trail and keep up with my daily exercise while bird watching and taking in the beautiful scenery. The views while I sit on the couch is breath taking and the picture window in the dining room is just as serene. It's quiet. I can go on a hike in the Olympic National Forest and come back in time for dinner and a movie without feeling like I was gone all day and exhausted from the drive. The availabilty of the owners is perfect, their on the property but never in your space unless needed. It's great for small families, romantic getaways or a girl's weekend. It's my Disneyland tucked away on a small winding road across from water that is smooth as glass. I love this cottage. Bud and Carol you really lucked out. Thanks for opening up your home to us and allowing us city folk a taste of the slow life. I'll be back, I'm checking my calender. I would highly recommend this property to anyone that wants a relaxing getaway and helpful owners.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We stayed at the cottage for two nights and I only wish we could have stayed longer. It was super comfortable and had everything anyone could need. The view of Sequim Bay outside the kitchen window was really lovely. We especially liked the front porch and the private beach access. We would definitely recommend this property and we hope we will be in that area again so we can stay again!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We were back for another visit and fell in love with it all over again! We can't say enough about the cleanliness, the decor and the overall comfort level. Whether we went to the beach for an evening walk or woke up early to see the sunrise, it was simply perfect. It's so easy to forget about the whole world at the little cottage. The fresh flowers made it a perfect personal touch for a welcoming home! Thanks again for a wonderful time. Can't wait to come back.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

This is the perfect location for a stay on the Olympic Peninsula. The cottage has a gorgeous ocean view and feels very secluded, but is conveniently located. A wonderful restaurant is within walking distance, the lovely Discovery Trail walking path is readily accessible, and Highway 101 (the main peninsula thoroughfare) is only minutes away. The cottage itself is lovely and extremely well-maintained. The kitchen is well-equipped should you wish to cook, and there is an outdoor patio and grill as well. Bud and Carol are the perfect hosts and are immediately available if you need something. This is one time when I can say that the reality surpassed even what we saw on the web site.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children.

If you are seeking true peace and quiet relaxation on your vacation, this is an excellent place. We enjoyed sitting at the breakfast table and watching the sunrise over the hills across the bay. Although it was too chilly most mornings we were there, you can enjoy your coffee from the bayside deck on a warm summer morning. After a day on the trails it was great to return to the house to build a nice fire and make a dinner of local seafood. Olympic National Park, Dungeness Spit, tidal pools, and the Olympic Discovery Trail are all nearby and recommended activities for the active vacationer. The lavender farms are a must as well. The house is exceptionally clean (I don't think I have seen a whiter sink!) and had all that we needed. The bath towels are even nice! The kitchen is adequately equipped with the minimum needed to prepare meals. We prepared all meals rather than eating out in order to better enjoy the house. As active hikers it was really nice to be able to do a load of wash when our clothes were muddy from the trails. The owner was kind and accommodating of our every need, and made us feel we could contact him with any questions. There is a nice library of pamphlets and brochures that help in learning about the area. Renting this property made my vacation! I would have had a good trip otherwise, but staying here made my trip fabulous and unforgettable. I will definitely return!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+.

This was our second time staying at this cottage and we again had a wonderful time. Bud and Carol are wonderful hosts and make the rental process very easy. Bud responded quickly to all of our questions and requests. The cottage itself is lovely. It is easy to find, not far from town, but feels very removed. The location is very peaceful with lots of song birds. The size is perfect for our family of four with very comfortable beds, linens and furnishings. The kitchen was well supplied for all we needed to make simple meals. The pictures in the listing all accurately reflect the condition of the cottage. We enjoyed daily walks on the beach across the street and our toddler loved running around in the fenced yard. We have absolutely no complaints and would highly recommend this cottage to anyone. In fact, I'm certain we will return again ourselves!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children.

I have previously rented 4 other properties in Sequim over the past 4 years and the cottage is by far the best rental I have had. It is cozy, well appointed, everything is provided for your stay, it is immaculately clean, and the location and views cannot be better. I walked everyday on the bike trail, which runs behind the property, or down to the marina to watch the birds. You can sit on the front porch or down on the beach in front on the private deck for more relaxation. The owners are very accessible and care about your comfort and needs. The owner actually installed an additional router in the cottage so I could have better reception in the front of the cottage and look out at the water while I worked. I could not recommend this rental more highly. I plan to be back in a few months.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We loved this place. It was such a cute cottage and met all of our needs. It had a beautiful water view as well. The kitchen is updated and the bed is very comfortable. It is also very close to downtown and the Olympic Discovery Trail. The owners added nice touches like fresh flowers on the table. They left us firewood for the fireplace as well. We would definitely stay again in the future.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage. The view of the bay is beautiful. The cottage is clean, well equipped and maintained. The property is landscaped with much care. The owners are responsive, friendly and respectful of your space. The location is close to the Sequim downtown area (5 minutes by car) It far exceeded our expectations and we can hardly wait to return.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We decided to try something different for our Winter getaway from WI. A stay at "The Cottage" fit the bill nicely. This cozy cottage provided our home away from home for one week as we explored the Olympic Peninsula. We love nature and this rental's location on Sequim Bay was picturesque and within easy drive to numerous hiking and snowshoeing destinations. We enjoyed the coast, rainforest and mountains during our stay--without the crowds!Recommended for: Adventure seekers.

Why the Owner Chose Sequim:
After vacationing in Sequim, we bought The Cottage for a vacation home and then chose to retire here. We lived in The Cottage for over 10 years and after building another home nearby, we knew others would enjoy the experience as much as we.
