We had a wonderful, relaxing, peaceful time enjoying the beautiful surroundings of this lovely cottage. Everything was clean and tidy, and easy to find all necessary kitchen utensils and other miscellaneous things. Cottage was fully equipped for every luxury, from fluffy towels to blender to fire pit. Every room was decorated and pleasant. Many windows allowed full view of the fall colors and watching the river slide past. Wifi, TV, movies, etc, although we were fully entertained by the setting and enjoyed getting away from our hectic work environments. We ate breakfast in the diner in old town, bought some steaks and fixings at the grocery, and enjoyed cooking together. Walked down to the boat ramp and up to the Civil War park. And like someone else posted, we enjoyed watching the little train that came through at dusk on the other side of the river. Our dog also had a wonderful time. She tried to chase a couple of deer that were in the yard, but at 9 years old, she didn't get very far. Patty was wonderful to work with and we had no problems with the reservation. Patty called us several times to make sure everything was OK. I know we'll be back.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, pet owners, tourists without a car, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.

The house is very pretty and the rooms are suitable. The kitchen is just the right size for a family of four. It is surrounded by shades which provide shade and keep the house cool. The river is pretty though not easily accessible from the house. The overall setting is very peaceful as there are no other homes nearby. It is convenient to various hikes on the AT and after a long day, the house offers a great place to relax and enjoy the river view. Trains do go by behind the river which offers a nice rural appeal. Great place to get away from busy, noisy city life.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you Jeremy for the review. We are happy you enjoyed your vacation in our home. You are welcome back anytime. We will be working on making the river more accessible by our guests. A dock is in the planning stage and hope to have it in place for the next season.
