  Rented this unit and was sorely disappointed. Other units in the Hollinsed House are fine but this one needs a lot of work. We opened the door and were greeted to the musty smell of mold. The carpets were stained. The walls looked like they hadn't been painted in quite some time with scuff marks all over the bedroom walls. There was evidence of mildew in the bathroom shower and the shower rug looked as if a dead animal had been sleeping on it. The photos are overselling this particular unit. The odor in the unit was so bad that we didn't even stay in it and went to a nearby hotel. We honored the contract since we had already paid for it but it was a costly lesson learned. We were able to see 2 other units of the Hollinsed house and they both seemed far superior to this one. The Hollinsed house location is excellent just a block and half off Duval in a nice neighborhood. The small pool and garden area is beautiful. It's just a shame this unit was so bad as the area is a super nice location. Try other units in the Hollinsed House before selecting this one.

  Owner response: I almost don't even know how to respond to this review. These guests checked out and called me to say they left the key under the mat because the lock box was not working. As a note to that, the guests prior and since have had no problem with the lock box. If the guests that wrote this review were as dissatisfied as this review implies, why did they not call me during the 5 days they were in Key West. And if they stayed at another hotel, who used the unit at the Hollinsed House? My housekeeper assures me it was used. As I have previously said to all guests who complain once they get home, who never complained during their stay, how can I solve a problem that I do not know exists? I have to be given the opportunity to address your concerns at the time. Please do not go home unhappy and then blast me on VRBO when you never told me there was an issue. The guests that checked into this unit after, loved it and cannot wait to come back next year! They found no problems and I had not gotten this review prior to their check-in and had time to "clean up the mess". All I can say is, I am sorry that the guests did not enjoy their time at the Hollinsed House but I am more sorry that I was not give the opportunity to rectify this.

  Tracy Thank you for the use of the Victorian Delights. The place was just the right size and the location is right near all the action but far enough if you want some peace and quiet. Your book on the coffee table with hightlights of some local places was great. We went to Louies backyard for our anniversary and it did not dissapoint.

  Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, tourists without a car.

  I can't believe it has taken me a month to write this review! Everything about our experience with the Hollinsed House was amazing! From first contact it was easy and we were given all the details we needed to know where to go and how to get to our room. There is no annoying check in or check out desk. If you need anything, Charlie (the care taker) is there with a smile every morning. When we arrived we were amazed that this little piece of paradise was ours! Very cute house with a serene courtyard complete with a relaxing pool and Tigger the cat walking around. Our apartment (#4) was a pleasant surprise as it was HUGE! The photos do not do it justice. The kitchen has all the necessities and the bathroom is larger than my office at work! There is a roll-away bed in the closet plus the couch is perfect for curling up and napping. The air conditioners work great as it was especially hot out in June! We met a great couple on their honeymoon staying in another room and traded restaurant ideas. Not to mention the book of past guests in the room that is full of ideas for dining, sightseeing, and more! The apartment has a stack of brochures, coupons, and even a binder filled with discounted trips that the owners can book for you. When relaxing in the pool at the end of the day you don't hear any of the party sounds of Duval Street yet everything is just a few blocks away!!! We parked our car once and walked everywhere for the entire three days! We will definitely go back and stay at Hollinsed House every trip to Key West!!!!

  Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, girls getaway.
