What a wonderful house! We weren't sure when we saw it on the website, but when we got there we knew the web didn't do it justice! Absolutely beautiful home. Wonderful, private and room for everyone. We always go with our in-laws and my sister-in-law is very critical about every rental. But she loved it and loved that their family could use the downstairs just like their own apartment! We've rented before but never had such a great experience. The owner is so accomodating and the house has nothing lacking. So clean you could eat off the floors. We went at a bad time of the year, September, and it rained and was windy most of the time, but we didn't care. The house was so comfortable all we did was relax, just what a vacation SHOULD BE. We loved it so much that we are doing 2 weeks next year, early summer and hope to go back again in the fall. Love it! Love it! Love it! Even friends who saw the pictures when we came home said it looked like a great place. Thank you for letting us become one of your renters.Did you find this review helpful? This is an amazing place! The House: The house was very clean and very comfortable. Lots of wood surfaces and relatively new. The kitchen was nice and big. The fridge, oven, washer, and dryer all seemed new. Windows overlooking the lake and woods are plentiful providing nice views. The owners' house is nearby, but it's up a hill through the woods and you definitely feel isolated from it. Bathrooms were standard full size and clean and had ventilation fans. Water quality was fine, but we used a brita filter we brought with us for taste. Beds were comfortable. We brought our own pillows and were glad for it- the provided pillows were a bit old. Really great gas grill and chairs on the deck. We didn't have any issues with insects. Lots of room in this house - you probably could fit two families comfortably - one on each floor. The Owner: Was very communicative and helpful via email before our stay. Very friendly in person. Very accommodating for our dog (who also enjoyed his stay!). It was very clear that if we needed him he was a phone call away, but otherwise he left us alone. Very good service at returning the deposit. The Location: This is a house at the end of a dead end private road at the end of a dead end road. It's literally at the end of a tree covered lane next to woods and fields. When you arrive at the house, it's all by itself overlooking woods, wetlands, and the lake. It's very quiet in a natural setting, but has a good sized grassy area to enjoy, a dock, a rowboat, and a paddleboat. The water was very calm during our stay - almost mirror-like! The sunrise, sunset, and star watching are perfect from the deck. It's about 3-5 minutes to North Hero, 35 minutes to Burlington, and about an hour from Montreal. Downsides: Very few. The biggest downside was that we had to leave! Only thing we can think of is the house is on a bit of an incline, kitchen is on the second floor, and has stairs, if accessibility is an issue. The Recommendation: We'd spend more time at this place again in a heartbeat!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Our family really enjoyed our getway vacation this past August because we are very fortunate to have access to this outstanding rental. It is"very" private because it is the last house on a "private" road and the water front is just outstanding. We enjoyed everything about the house as well as the simplicity in working with Larry through the rental process. If you (and your kids) enjoy kayaking and fishing- you are in for a real treat!! We caught so many bass from the dock as well as of he rowboat, we even caught manhy more when we rented a boat. The family room was great for our family of 10 to hang out during dinner and at night. The AC certainly a treat during those days when the temperature up to 95+. Everyone around this area was so friendly and relax - it certainly feels like a real vacation away from big cities such as Boston. There are several local farm stands where you can get your fresh (and organic) vegetables and eggs every day to prepare yor meals. The fresh tomatoes, corns and squashes are just sweet. We enjoyed our "day-trip" to Montreal and still be home before dinner. it isreally only about an hour fromthe house to Montreal. I would like to thank Larry and Mary for sharing their house with our family. We are planning to come back next time and hope it still available.Recommended for: Families with young children, adventure seekers, families with teenagers.

My family has rented this house for the past two summers. The location is perfect -- not difficult to find, but remote enough to really enjoy the beautiful lakefront. We comfortably fit my parents (60+), my sister and her husband and nephew (toddler) and two more adults (with no children). Plenty of space! The deck affords breath-taking views. We dined on the deck frequently in order to watch the boaters and appreciate the amazing view! While we usually go for the fishing, it's also a short trip to the great shops and museums in Burlington, or plenty of great little shops on the islands. This past summer, my husband and I took a ride to Montreal -- a pleasantly short trip. Very few places offer such a complete shift -- one day we were on an island in picturesque Lake Champlain, and the next night we were dining in a luxury hotel in a Europeanesque metropolis. The next day we were fishing for huge smallies right off the shore. We typically have two boats with us, and this past year we also brought a canoe. The secluded launch area made going out in our little canoe very easy -- particularly on such a huge lake. The bay was a perfect spot for canoeing- we were able to get deep into the secluded wooded area and get a *very* close up view of nature. And by nature, I mean, very large fish. Very close to the canoe. The house itself was clean, spacious and well appointed. It had all the comforts of home. The owner was particularly attentive and wonderfully accommodating to us before and during our multiple stays. I look forward to this retreat every year! I cannot recommend it enough to anyone looking for the perfect getaway.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, families with teenagers.

Larry was very helpful during the planning of our last minute reservation. The house was big enough for our 7 friends. The neighborhood is beautiful and it was a joy to drive around discovering apple orchards etc. At night, we sat around a bonfire roasting marshmallows and catching up with each other. It was a lovely time. I would definitely recommend to other people.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers.

I have stayed at this property for a week long visit with my children for two summers in a row...I'll be there again next summer. The location is very private, the fishing is incredible, the house is very well kept, well appointed and well equipped, nice access to the water...gradual slope down to beach area (but also some areas with steep drops to beach so probably not for families with very small children). Lots of wildlife, great sunsets, amazing fishing. Not a swimming beach but there are places to swim nearby. LOVE IT!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 6/6
