Woodland Park house description
Open your eyes to a spectacular sunrise over Ute Pass; you’ve had a refreshing sleep after a long trip. Make your way downstairs to the fully-appointed kitchen, and take your coffee in the breakfast nook as Pikes Peak takes shape in the morning light. Take a deep breath of clean Colorado air: You’ve got a big day ahead of you!
This home boasts great panoramic mountain, valley and blue sky views from three sides. Although secluded, it’s close to Woodland Park and centrally located among all the destinations and activities in the Pikes Peak area. Here you can get away from it all and still have easy access to just about everything. You just can't beat the country feel coupled with convenience! Nearby hiking trails and abundant wildlife are right out the door! Major destinations such as the USAF Academy, Pikes Peak Highway, The North Pole, Cave of the Winds, The Dinosaur Museum, The Cog Railroad, Focus on the Family and Iron Springs Chateau Theatre are within 5 to 25 minutes away. Woodland Park is just 3 minutes down the hill, complete with grocery stores, hospital, theatre, golf course, recreation center, restaurants, shops and churches. Manitou Springs and Old Colorado City, offer their unique shops and quaint restaurants within 15 minutes. It’s about a 40-minute scenic drive to historic Victor’s spectacular three-mountain-range overlook and vast 24-hour gold-mining operation, as well as to Cripple Creek’s famous gold mines, narrow gauge railroad, casinos and museums. A twenty-minute drive east will take you to Colorado Springs’ airport, hospitals, shopping malls, golf courses, museums, churches and theatres. You’re two hours or less from major ski areas, Mt Princeton Hot Springs, great white-water rafting and The Royal Gorge. (There’s much more - See our Area Activities webpage for a lifetime of local activities and destinations!) At the end of the day, after you’ve stocked the food pantry with supplies from Woodland Park’s own Walmart, Safeway or City Market, you can prepare a great meal in the completely equipped kitchen or grill on the deck. Relax with a game of pool downstairs and finally sink into the hot tub to watch the sun set over Pikes Peak.
Sunrise offers three separate living areas: main, upper and lower levels. It's great for multi-family or friendship gatherings: there’s plenty of space for everyone! The main (middle) level features a large living area, lots of windows and open access to the spacious deck. The upper level has a master suite with a king bed (sleeps 2) and a luxurious master bathroom including a Jacuzzi. The second bedroom offers a queen bed (sleeps 2); and the third bedroom has a bunk with a lower double bed (sleeps 2) and a twin above (sleeps 1). Additionally, the room has a futon (sleeps 1) . The lower level features a large recreation room with a pool table, and a large screen 3-D TV with lots on the DVR. There are sleeping spaces for a maximum of five (1 futon and 2 queen airbeds).
The hot tub is outside the lower level and overlooks the valley.

Our Sunrise Retreat
Our Sunrise Retreat
Wow, views are incredible .. Never got tired of being on the deck. We really enjoyed all the wildlife we would see each & every day. House is beautiful, treats were a very nice amenity. Enjoyed cooking in the kitchen for family gatherings while looking out at the mountains ... Enough space to spread out. Boys enjoyed hot tub, playing pool & seeing the doe's, buck's, fox and various wildlife. The location is excellent for all the site seeing we did during our week stay. Loved returning to the house every day to relax & plan our next day adventure. Would definitely stay again when returning to Colorado. George was extremely helpful & considerate in all our dealings. Would highly recommend this home for your vacation stay.

My husband and I stayed at Sunrise for a week with our "tween" grandchildren. The house was fantastic for spreading out and having our own space, and was fresh and clean making us feel welcome. The treats on the kitchen counter were a blessing for two hungry kids that had traveled without stopping for lunch to expedite our arrival. The views off the deck were priceless, and we never tired of just looking at the ever-changing mountains. The location was superb for sight-seeing and activities in the region. Wal-Mart was extremely convenient for groceries and those items we forgot to bring. George was very friendly and easy to work with, and he even allowed us entry a bit early (I forgot to account for time zone differences when announcing our arrival time). We have already recommended this house to several of our friends and family. If ever in the region again, we will definitely stay here again.

We couldn't have asked for a better view!! Waking up each morning and having coffee on the back deck with Pikes Peak so close we could touch it! The photos do not do the view justice. The home is beautiful and well equiped for this family of seven. To be more clear, the third bedroom has a bunk bed with a full mattress on the bottom and a twin mattress on top, and also a twin sized futon in the room. The master bedroom has a king size bed, and the other bedroom has a queen sized bed. There are also several air mattresses available. My teenage children loved the hot tub, pool table and 3D television. And we all loved the den of baby foxes at the end of the driveway! Deer were also our close neighbors. Woodland Park is a great location as the town is actually in the mountains and close to so much. Walmart is close if you want to cook in the well equiped kitchen, but there are many restaurants nearby. The property managers are very nice and have placed a lot of information about area activities in the home. They were also available to answer any questions we had. My family had trouble leaving to come home and will stay in this wonderful home when we return to the area.

A perfect retreat with perfect hosts
A perfect retreat with perfect hosts
Sunrise was absolutely the perfect vacation retreat for my family. My daughters (ages 10 and 11) enjoyed the 3-D TV in the basement while we spent most of our time on the deck or in the hot tub looking out on an unobstructed view of Pikes Peak. I was glad our dog could come with us, and he enjoyed the walks through the beautiful secluded neighborhood. We loved taking morning hikes most every day, and enjoyed exploring Manitou Springs and Woodland Park in the afternoons. Most of all, the Woods are excellent managers who were always kind and helpful in answering any questions and helping with any small needs that arose. We will definitely be coming back for a vacation within a year, and our first priority will be to stay at Sunrise, or at another property managed by the Woods.

A huge WOW!! This house is incredible - inside and out! The view is absolutely amazing. We went to the Garden of the Gods, Seven Falls, Manitou Cliff Dwellings, Miramont Castle, Cripple Creek Railway, Pike's Peak, the Flying W Ranch, Santa's Workshop (North Pole) and Cave of the Winds! Woodland Park is such an ideal location - we enjoyed the local restaurants and shopping. Thank you, George, for being a pleasure to work with. We're already planning our next trip!

We enjoyed our stay at Sunrise very much! The hosts were very helpful and pleasant to work with. I cannot even describe the views from this home! They were unbelievable! The house is in a great location...very private, yet a short drive to Walmart for all of your needs. Pikes Peak and many other attractions are a short distance. During our stay we visited the Air Force Academy, Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods, and even went white water rafting. It was a great vacation and we hope to return to Colorado soon. We will definitely stay here again! We had 2 adults and 3 children on our trip and it was perfect for us. There was plenty of room and the home is nicely decorated and had everything we needed. I highly recommend this home to anyone staying in the area.
