The Sea Turtle cottage is located in the heart of exciting Gulfport within walking distance to the beach, parks, casino and Historic Downtown Gulfport's restaurants, shops and bars. The Sea Turtle is on the Mississippi Department of Archives and History covenant register and has been carefully restored to the charms of yesteryear. If you enjoy the ambiance of 'days gone by', then the Sea Turtle Cottage with its original hardwood floors, tongue and groove ceilings and comfortable and eclectic antique furnishings is the place for you!
Sleeping accommodations are great. The parlor bedroom features a four poster bed, antique chifforobe trestle table and flat screen TV. An antique full size burl maple bed with matching armoire and an antique single brass bed in the second bedroom is just perfect for the aunts and nieces. A French Provincial queen bed in a third bedroom with it's nautical touches is seaside cottage chique.
Dining and entertaining for large groups is artfully easy. The graceful dining room table has two leafs for expanding to easily accommodate parties of ten. The kitchen is equipped with all the tools you'll need to make fabulous meals to wine and dine with friends and family.
Relax in the parlor living room where you and your musical guests and friends can have a fun night playing the spinet piano or guitar. Or gather in the sunroom where you will find a trundle daybed for additional sleeping and plenty of pillows and places to flop to watch your favorite shows or DVDs on the flat screen TV.
Two full baths make it easy to get up and get going. One bath includes a bathtub and shower combination that is great for the little guys.
This is a perfect vacation spot for family gatherings, and casino goers alike. The kids will love the splash pad at West Side Park located just a stroll around the block. And Jones Park with its scheduled entertainment events, (Gulfport Music Fest in May and the Fishing Rodeo returns July 4th weekend!), picnic areas and playgrounds is so close you can walk to it. The newly constructed Gulfport Harbor will delight you with fishing piers and the offerings of fresh fish and shrimp from the boats (summer 2013). Or in season, take a ride on the Ship Island Excursion Boat leaving from the harbor to tour Historic Fort Massachusetts and leave you to do some 'barrier island' beach combing. The Beach Comber Trolley stops at Jones Park, ready to pick you up and carry you up and down the coast for even more shopping and dining fun. Even golfing! And the Island View Casino is a good neighbor living just across the street ready and waiting for whenever you're feeling lucky! Get in the car and you’ll find more fun with outlet malls, discount stores, golf courses and the Gulf Island Water Park.
Come and stay and play at the Sea Turtle Cottage. I just know you will make some great memories.

we had a great time at the beach cottage. There were different ages from 74 down to 4. Four generations of family together for a long weekend. the house was nicely decorated and had all the convenience of home. It was just what we were looking for and will definitely try to go back!!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway.

When travelling for business I am a hardcore Hilton properties person; there is something to be said for the consistent experience that a chain hotel has. This trip though I brought a crew and took a chance on my first stay at an alternative property and am glad I did. This cottage is deceptive, it lives a lot larger than the street view would suggest. There were 3 distinct living/bedroom areas, each as large as the typical hotel. The kitchen, dining and front rooms were perfect as shared/working space and the sleeping /tv room was able to easily be turned into a private sleeping space. In short, I was concerned that my crew of 6 would have to sacrifice privacy and efficiency in order to stay in this charming cottage a block from the beach. We didn't have to, it worked perfectly. Description was accurate, property was clean and well maintained, owner was prompt in answering all inquiries and flexible on departure date. In short I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property to anyone.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks Richard! I am so glad you took the time to comment on your stay. I did keep in mind, when decorating and renovating the cottage how the spaces would be used for multi family gatherings as well as business groups. I look forward to all the quests you and your review send my way. Have a great summer! Beth

Our family of 5 spent 4 nights at the Sea Turtle Cottage over Easter weekend. Our son is currently stationed at Keesler AFB and the cottage is a straight shot from the base along the coast about 12miles away. Our son absolutely LOVED having his own room and being able to simply relax and unwind at "home." We ate at a couple of local places - both of which we all enjoyed - Shaggy's Beach Bar & Grill and The Dock. The cottage is equipped with everything you need for a pleasant stay - plenty of towels, fully equipped kitchen, starters of shampoo/conditioner (we did bring our own), etc. The owners are incredibly friendly and responsive - just a short walk away in case you need something. The only downside would be for light sleepers...the train tracks are nearby and they do come through during the night. We loved the cottage and would definitely recommend it and would return. Thanks, Beth!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks Linda for your wonderful review. I am so glad you enjoyed your stay. I am fortunate the cottage is located in an area where our service men and women can reunite with family, friends and loved ones. Have a wonderful summer! Beth

This is a wonderful cottage centrally located and close to all the happenings of Gulfport. Our only complaint was there were several trains that ran several times during the night. The first night, we weren't prepared for the horn and it scared us out of our sleep. Other than that, we very much enjoyed our stay and the cottage is lovely and peaceful.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks, Toni. I am glad you enjoyed your stay. And yes, trains are a way of life for us here in South Mississippi and some, not all, of the engineers can be a little heavy handed. Fortunately for our neighborhood, a few more railroad crossings have closed during the past year which has made the night noise less disrupting. Thanks again for staying at the Sea Turtle Cottage and happy travels! Beth

The house is very cute and clean. There was plenty of room for myself and 7 kids! We were meeting up with one son who staying at Keesler. We wanted to just be together all weekend-not really spend time running around. This house was perfect! We prepared meals there and enjoyed them around the large dining table. The rest of the time we watched movies or played board and card games on the other tables. We spent one afternoon at the Westside Park and Splash-pad. It was very close and the kids loved it. Thank you for a fun and memorable weekend!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thanks so much for your comments! So glad you enjoyed your visit and hope to see everyone again. Lovely family! Beth

Beth did an incredible job fixing up this unique house. The beds were very comfortable, plenty of room for all of us, the trundle bed area was great for the kids to play their video games, the short walk to the casino tempted us to gamble more than normal, nice walk to the beach, and the local Tony's pizza place was the most delicious pizza I've ever eaten. Beth and her family were very accommodating and gracious.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

About the owner: My family and I have lived on this street just a few houses up from the Sea Turtle Cottage for 20 years. Our home was lucky enough to survive the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, but many other homes in our community were not so lucky. It is the love for the coast and the desire to help restore and rebuild our community that brought us to purchase the Sea Turtle Cottage. Thanks to the partnership between my mother and me, we were able to complete the restoration of this charming cottage and offer a delightful place for friends and families to vacation and gather in this exciting town. I hope we can share our pleasures of the coast with you, our quests, for many years to come and that you will return time and time again. Owners, Beth Swigris and Martha Sexton
